With one eyebrow raised, Ikaris listened as the medic grumbled and talked about Tori, and something that had supposedly happened last night. Grabbing a bottle of orange juice from the fridge, Kari leaned up against the counter and looked over to Carson, watching as he cooked eggs and told him about what seemed to be damn near everything he had missed out on last night. Taking a long drink, the alpha took his time trying to process what he had just heard, and how the hell he was so dumb (and in his mind, selfish) for going straight to bed when he got home.

Carson had every right to be mad. Not only did someone get hurt and act stubborn about it, which was something Ikaris seemingly coined as his 'thing', but that someone was his sister, Tori. Hell, even Ikaris felt his own anger and worry bubbling up under his skin, threatening to tread on that fine line between being human and wolf. The anger he felt was mostly directed at himself, and whatever monster decided to even look at Tori. Biting down on his tongue, Ikaris only offered a small shrug, trying to seem as unbothered as he could, given the situation.

Kari was never one known for masking his emotions well, not unless he really, really focused on it. That meant he did all he could to try and avoid eye contact until he could get his heart and mind to dramatically slow down. That was happening now. The werewolf's grasp on the orange juice was tighter than it needed to be, his breath quieter than normal and his gaze not once looking to meet with Carson's eyes. One glance could sell him out in an instant, it always did.

"I can try to convince her, but there's no guarantees I could even- I'll come off as one hell of a hypocrite. Pulling the alpha card won't even work, she'd call the bluff anyways." Taking another drink of his orange juice, Ikaris then hugged his abdomen with his free hand. Could he convince her without looking like the biggest dick in the world? Probably not, well- maybe.

When Carson stopped and asked him about his night, all Ikaris could do was chuckle as he shook his head, "I'm starting to think I should've gotten into a fight." Defensively putting one hand up he smirked, "I'm kidding." Then, he pondered about how he'd even describe the night. He could keep the specifics to himself, they weren't bothersome anyways, right?

"I caught someone's fancy and they uh- at that point, I was already buzzed so I gave in to some chatter to get free drinks. I feel bad for them, I sort of snuck away after a few drinks? It's a bit foggy, but I did manage to get back here without a bloody nose. I suppose that's a plus." Rubbing the back of his neck nervously, the werewolf then decided he had better get a move on and bring Tori back.

"Alrighty, I'm going to go into town, wish me luck?"

Without leaving Carson much time to respond to him, Ikaris turned on his heels and headed towards the door, stopping to fetch the keys to his father's old mustang before doing a half assed salute as he turned around to face the kitchen, "See you later!" Then, when the door closed Kari sighed and got into the vehicle, turning on the radio and tuning it until he caught the beginning of You've Created A Monster, by Bohnes.

This would be the first time Kari would find himself going to another pack member's work place. It felt incredibly intrusive, wrong. They deserved to do whatever they wanted in their free time, but she had been hurt- is hurt. It only made sense that he should try to bring her back to rest and get proper care, even if the medic just so happened to be her brother.

Pulling up to the bank, Ikaris revved the engine of the old muscle car a couple of times before he turned both the radio and the car off. With one quick motion he got up and out of the car, stuffing the keys into his front right pocket as he walked up to the front doors. Faintly, in the back of his mind, Ikaris wondered if he should've gotten out of his hoodie and sweatpants to come here. Banks were... professional settings right? Only in movies, jackass. When he got to the first person there, Ikaris flashed his white teeth in a sweet smile, "I was hoping you could help me find someone that works here? There's a family emergency back home and we would really appreciate if she could leave work for the day." All of this felt wrong, mostly because he didn't seem to be giving her a choice, as much as he'd love for her to not hate his guts, he had to do this. After a few moments of talking, one of the employees pointed him in her direction.

Once he got close enough to where he could sense her presence, Ikaris found himself pulled towards a break room. Sure enough, inside of it was the only person who could actually break through his stupidity. Preparing himself to get yelled at, Kari gently rapped his knuckles against the door, announcing his presence before he walked into the room, "So, are you ready to go back to the house?"

Seeing Tori with the spilled water on her caused a pang of guilt run deep into his bones. Sure, it was just water- but she had to have jumped for it to spill all over her, which meant that she had to have gone through some pain, if her side was as bad as it sounded, "We don't always get what we hope for." Before he could even cross his arms over his chest, Tori took his hand into hers and led him to her office.

When the doors had finally shut, Ikaris raised an eyebrow and scoffed, "Maybe you can work, but while you're in pain?" Pinching the bridge of his nose, Kari leaned against a wall, his arms coming up from his sides and neatly crossing over his chest, "Go ahead and call me a dick, but if I was doing this, you'd want me to go home, right? Of course you would. So, that's that. You have to get proper rest and it would help if you could be back at the house if anything happens. We can't have humans trying to figure out how to patch us up, nor can we have them try to pry into what really happened. We'd sound like lunatics."

As much as he wanted to sit here and play tough, the werewolf's posture relaxed as his eyes softened, "I told them there was a family emergency. It's cliche, I know. It's not exactly far fetched though." He paused, smiling at himself, "If they need proof of an emergency I could make a quick trip to the bar. I'd be sober but it'd work." He didn't know why it seemed so funny to suggest that, "I don't like this. You know that, right? Everyone deserves to have their out."

When she asked about what Carson had told him, Ikaris shrugged, "He said you got slammed into a tree by something on a late night patrol. Carson didn't tell me your exact injuries, and if I'm being honest. I don't think I want to know." Realizing how bad that could sound, he sighed, "Tori, I don't like seeing you injured. I know, it's funny coming from the guy who could care less if he gets his shit kicked in during a bar fight, but it's true. What good is an alpha if he can't ensure the safety of his pack members?" It wasn't exactly what he wanted to say, but it would have to work until Ikaris could stop dancing around his true feelings for Tori.

Grabbing the keys from his pocket, Kari offered a genuine smile, "I drive, you pick the tunes?"

Hearing Tori say it didn't fall on just the alpha to protect the pack drew a half scoff, half sigh from him. It might just be this situation that made him think it was completely his fault, that he had failed to do one of the few things he was required to do as the alpha. Part of him wondered how his father had ever done this on his own. Ikaris would have to visit his parents soon to ask them, and hopefully he wouldn't get chastised for not having someone at his side. Every time he visited they asked him why the pack still only had one alpha, and every time he shrugged and awkwardly smiled, telling them no one wants a man like him. Kari could be pretty heavy on the self pity/self hatred thing. It was easy to fall into.

"I'd prefer it that way too. I can handle seeing myself hurt, not you... but I guess that applies to anyone who gets hurt. They generally seem to not care if they're hurt, but they do care if someone else gets injured. It's funny how the mind works like that."

Carson is right. That drew a smile on his face, it wasn't often that Tori admitted that her brother was right. When Tori said he could pick the tunes, Ikaris pouted momentarily before giving in and nodding, "Alright, alright. That sounds like a good idea. You can rub it in Carson's face when we get back if he tries to say you did nothing to help yourself. I've fucked with him this morning once, I thought he was going to gut me until I saw he wasn't as upset as I thought he was."

Making sure to not walk too fast, the alpha headed ouit of the room, keys spinning around one of his fingers as he looked around, quietly counting the number of people in the bank (that he could see). If anyting happened here to make Tori's job any harder over this one day off of work, Ikaris would have a nice set of words for the management here. He wouldn't tell that to anyone though.

As he climbed into the driver's seat, Ikaris kept his green gaze over at the passenger seat, watching carefully as Tori got into the seat. Part of him was screaming obscenities at himself for not helping her, while another part of him hummed softly, thankful that she got in without hitting it on anything, "I won't say anything if you don't." Smiling he then closed his door and turned the mustang on, wincing when he thought about how the pack needed a vehicle that wasn't... loud like this one, "I'm going to try to drive slow, okay? If I make that hurt, feel free to punch me in the arm or something. I don't fancy the idea of getting your more hurt and having to face Carson for it."

Then, he pulled out of the parking spot and began his drive back home, ensuring to keep the speed lower than he normally drove at, taking caution of corners and big bumps as well. The ride would be far from perfect, but it would be safer.
