frequently, yes. sometimes insecurities translate into people treating others poorly. and sometimes they're just trying to get a reaction from you.
complimenting them instead of reacting(even if they hurt your feelings) really seems to be effective.
arguments don't last long when only one person is arguing

Genevieve Caballero

New Rider | Female | Mentions: Vědmák Ohexis

The young copperheaded female felt her face scrunch up in annoyance - it seemed that this Valley was a place to encourage teenage drama. She could hear the muffled cries of those not chosen and the utterances of parents that were disappointed in the outcome. It seemed most of the dragons had arrived and were already finding their chosen rider. And she could hear the whispers and chatter about the dragons as they flew in and made themselves known to the humans. She gave an annoyed huff as she strained to find her dragon ; she could feel the pull and connection towards it - yet, she couldn't visibly see the creature, which was rather frustrating as most were already finding their dragon or other half, if you will. And she didn't want to be left out, and so she was making her best effort to find the dragon that would be her life-long companion. She mused about how that would be, and wondered if her children would ever get to meet her dragon - or even her children's own children. Dragons lived long, and she had read about the bond between a human and a dragon - something sacred and rare, and she would be honored to be just given a chance to encounter a great beast - let alone, have one as a companion for life.

That's when she felt it, a soft humming within her and then she soon found herself face to face with pitch black eyes, ones that seemed to almost stare into her very soul. And she felt her own hazel eyes widen ; not out of fear or shock - but, more so out of awe of such an interesting looking dragon. The first thing she noticed was that the dragon didn't have wings - which was interesting, how did it get here then? She wondered to herself, did it walk all the way here? But the next thing that caught her eyes was the sheer size of the beast, and she couldn't help but feel small compared to it. But the serpentine body reminded her of the differences between dragon species - because there were some that had such a body and had no need for wings because they could just magically fly, and she wondered if that was the case of this dragon. She couldn't help but appreciate how majestic the dragon appeared, yet - on the same token there just seemed to be an eerie feeling that creeps up her spine when looking at the beast as well.

"You're magnificent,"'was all she could breathlessly whisper at the dragon. Not caring it had pointed its absurdly large claws at him or that it was showing its teeth. As a matter of fact, she gave her own feral grin at the creature - she could only imagine the two striking fear into their opponents and doing great things together. And she looked at him and said, "Oh, before I forget, I have a gift for you. I hope you'll find it to your satisfaction to decorate your horns." And she gave a bashful smile, before presenting some bright golden rings and they had delicate markings on them and opalescent pearls within them. They were also varying size which would add a beautiful affect. And the smallest ones were adored with a teardrop like crystal - its color being like that of a bright diamond - clear and perfect.

"I hope we can get along," she said to the dragon with an honest smile.

Sujule & Katsiak
Storm Dragon | Female | New Dragon | Mentions: Open
Indirectly Mentions: None

Blood-coloured eyes narrowed into slits, a jagged tooth escaping the edge of her lips. Her deep cackle boomed across the skies, echoing for miles as she mocked the feeble humans. “Oh, they are horribly unintelligent, aren’t they?” She guffawed, all whilst aiding Sujule in their descent. Angling a singular wing, she assisted in their landing, spreading her talons out in support as they met the ground. All the while, beneath her breath, Katsiak whispered words of dread and despair, mumbling about the typical uselessness of the entire journey.

“To think, us associated with humans,” she hissed through jagged teeth. “Then again, their lives are but fleeting candles in the wind. If we’re lucky, our rider will perish far before their time.” Fur prickling with delight at the thought, she scraped her horn gently against Sujule’s neck, a subtle act of affection before a look of malice darkened her eyes. “Now, how do we wish to do this.” Katsiak repeated her sister’s earlier words, singular claw raised to her chin in ponderance. “You know how I adore chaos,” she began, tongue flickering from the safety of her mouth, as if hoping to taste the terror she so deeply ached for. “Though a change would be nice, wouldn’t you agree, sister?” She whispered to her other half, as if revealing a deep secret.

An almost bored yawn widened the she-dragon’s jaws, before snapping them together with an audible click. She lifted her front claws to pick a moment at her teeth, her tongue flicking against them as she mulled over Katsiak’s words. “They’re truly a waste of shhpace,” she slurred before removing her claw from her teeth, smacking her lips together. “It’s no wonder they overpopulate like ants, they don’t have the brains to raise half smart offspring, so they have to push out as many as they can because their chance of survival is low,” her voice rasped with a venomous tone, a disgusted look marring her features. Flicking her claws before setting her foot down she rolled her shoulder and shook out her neck, almost trying to shake the bad taste the idea of a rider left in her mouth. “If we’re so lucky they’ll contract some unfortunate disease and perish slowly… painfully,” she sighed out the last word, her eyes glazing over for a moment. “Then we could relish in something about them for once,” she pouted a moment before turning her attention towards the open portion of the valley the young humans gathered in.

“I think, sister,” Sujule began, her voice coming out a purr, “we show them the elegance they are privileged to see, let them realize they are among goddesses, and that they should worship at our feet.” A scoff left her throat and she extended both of the wings on her side before tucking them gently against her scales. Her head angled and she gently gripped one of her sister’s horns in her jaws, the subtly scraping of her teeth against the horn creating an almost comforting sound and feel. She hissed as she gently raked her teeth across the horn, sharpening her mane canines before lowering her own head to allow Katsiak access to hers for the same reason.

A puff of smoke escaped her flared nostrils in response to Sujule’s words. “Wretched mortals, they are.” Adding on, Katsiak stretched out her neck, craning it as forward as it could go before clicking her teeth together in satisfaction. “Their mere existence is nothing but a pathetic comedy, and yet, we must be stuck with one,” she sighed out with disdain. “Truthfully, our only hope is for that vermin to perish. I wonder..” She trailed off, turning to Sujule. “Do you think that it will affect us as much? After all, there is one rider and two of us. Certainly the oh-so-painfulness of losing a rider will be spread equally amongst us?” Scoffing her words out, Katsiak plotted to herself before snapping her head abruptly towards the valley, her eyes gazing through the bushes in observance. “Our little rider is amongst them,” she hissed, feeling the creature’s arrival.

She paused for several seconds, her chest tightening with growing malice before a sudden, gentle hum was sounded from her throat as Sujule’s thoughts fled into her own mind. “I suppose,” she started, examining her talons, “we could convert our rider into a servant. Show all those imbeciles, both humans and dragons alike, how to properly use their bond.” Slamming her talons together once more into a fist, she grinned to herself before her head was suddenly forced to the side, a singular horn of hers being grasped by her sister. The uncomfortable screeching of teeth against the material both rattled her brain, and provided music to her ears. When the task was complete, it was Katsiak who turned to Sujule next. Staring at her sister momentarily, she struck, mirroring her sister’s prior actions. Clenching a singular horn upon her sister’s head between her teeth, she dragged her canine slowly, painfully, across the edge, sharpening it to precision before repeating the action with her other. “Hm,” she mumbled, finger poking her canines lightly in inspection before running her tongue over them. “I think I chipped one.”

“I can’t imagine it would,” Sujule said with a sigh, surely the death of a mere human wouldn’t bother her, right? She could not fathom it; it just wasn’t something her mind could fathom. An annoyed expression crossed over her features, baring her teeth for a moment as if she had just been stuck with a needle. Without so much as a warning, she snapped her jaws at Katsiak, closing them around her sisters muzzle, lightly rasping the points of her teeth against the other’s scales. She jerked her head away with a hiss, jaws parting wide to reveal the rows of her sharpened teeth, much like some snakes do in warning to threats. After a few seconds, though, Sujule’s hiss turned into a grumbling sound of affection and she rubbed her head into her sister’s neck, before turning her attention outwards. “I hate this, Katsiak. Why must we share our existence with a human?” The darker faced head whined, her voice grating in the most annoying way.

When her own horn was rasped against Katsiak’s teeth, Sujule let out a mewling sound of enjoyment as the painful music her sister made filled the air. It was an atrociously beautiful sound, something Sujule reveled in truly. Her jaws opened in response to Katsiak but then snapped shut with a gasp and she quickly grabbed her sister's lower jaw in her one hand and pulled it open, leaning in to inspect her teeth. “Nonsense, they’re as perfect as always,” she assured her, but rubbed a testing claw on each of the canines to be sure. With a satisfied nod she let go of Kat’s jaw and stared forward, a new snarl once again marring her snout. “I suppose we shall go then?”

An unprovoked, sudden wail sounded from Katsiak’s chest when her sister clamped her jaws around her muzzle. Her fur stood on end, filled with anger and frustration. Her chest expanded, and she snarled, unfurling her wings and sending dust flying in Sujule’s direction. Katsiak’s eyes widened significantly, even after her sister released her muzzle and revealed her teeth in warning. To any onlooker, it might have seemed as though Katsiak was gearing up to strike back, much like a snake preparing to deliver the killing blow. However, when she did lurch forward, it was to bury her nose into her sister’s mane, as if embracing her in a hug. “We must share our existence with a human because fate despises us,” she murmured into Sujule’s fur, her voice tinged with defeat before she withdrew her head and turned towards the valley.

Her face was soon turned in Sujule’s direction once more as her sister grasped her lower jaw with her hand, inspecting her teeth. When told of their perfection, Katsiak hummed. “You think so?” She asked, flicking her canines to test their sturdiness before clamping her mouth shut as a sudden change of both feeling and tone overtook her upon being reminded of why they were here. “I suppose that we have no other choice, unless we wish to proceed with our original plan and paint the entire ground red,” she spoke, neck twitching with anticipation before taking a singular step forward. “Let us reveal ourselves regardless, for I may change my mind yet.”

Nodding to Katsiak’s words, Sujule let out an almost sinister growl, clicking her teeth together before she started the pace forwards, the light from where everyone resided in the valley flickering in through the treeline. Her eyes fluttered closed as her head reached out past the trees first, pupils restricting to adjust for the bright light. She glanced about, before turning to watch her sister follow suit. Once both of their heads were in the clear, Sujule stepped out with her foot first, a low humming sound emitting from her throat in the process. The low humming was soon accompanied with a deepened growl as Katsiak’s own foot followed suit, her teeth flashing at any vermin that even looked their way.

As the sisters continued to emerge from the darkness of the woods, an eerie silence settled over those near them upon realizing that these sister’s weren’t two separate dragons, but, in fact, were one.

Rhyhor
Storm Dragon | New Dragon | Male | Mentions: Mariana, Kavik, Ahura, Skylar
Indirectly Mentions: Ananth, Others at the Ceremony

The large storm dragon moved through the crowd of humans, their high-pitched voices ringing thorugh his ears. He could practically feel the future headache pulsing at the base of his skull, a deep growl rumbling through his chest. Most seemed to see him coming and moved out of his way, those that didn't were knocked over and scrambled out from under his paws before they were crushed. He had yet to feel the warmth of a body flattened beneath his body, but the reptile wouldn't have cared if he had.

The pull of the bond had led him through the crowd, and seemed to be heading to the outskirts. He had spied a boulder holding the presence of two humans in the process of his walk, and it seemed to be where the bond was pulling him, tugging his body towards the pair. And, even worse, another pair joined them, causing the dragons scowl to deepen, and his rumbling growl to grow only louder.

His heart gave nothing of an indication when his unnerving, electric blue eyes travelled over the young men and one of the women, but the bond gave a sharp tug when he looked at the other woman that seemed to be with them. And, just like that, the brute knew he had found his bond, his human. He parted his jaws slightly, allowing his tongue to run along his teeth and upper lips before retreating back into his mouth as he finished the final part of his approach.

Behind the group, he spied movement of a brown dragon slinking through the forest stealthily, reaching for one of the other humans. As the dark grey dragon neared the group of humans, he released a loud snarl, breath leaving his nostrils in a harsh exhale. Truly, the sound could have been directed at the group members themselves, or at the dragon that none of them yet seemed to be aware of, Rhyhor himself barely knew.

Instead, he focused his attention on the hooded woman. With his weight on his wings, giving him his more wyvern-like look, he was free to reach out with a foreleg and grab the woman, baring his teeth at the other humans as he pulled her to his chest and moved away from the group slightly. Enough to be in hearing distance, gods forbid he have to listen to any more screaming today, but far enough that none would be able to touch him as a surprise.

His clawed appendage was large as it wrapped around the woman, easily covering her abdomen and part of her legs. Once he was more content with the distance between him, the group, and the other dragon, Rhyhor pulled the woman away from his chest and peered down at her with his bright, pupilless eyes.

'You are mine.' He stated simply through the bond, voice low, baritone, rumbling like thunder.

Vědmák Ohexis
Psyche || Male || New Dragon || Mentions: Sevo, Genevieve

Balancing on his limbs, Vědmák Ohexis gently rested a lone claw on Sevo's back, conveying his position in an otherworldly manner. "ᛋᛖᚡᛟ," came the sound that emerged from the psyche dragon's mouth, followed by an eerie whistle and clicking of the teeth.

"Қалдарыңыз қалай?" His face was turned, gaze staring directly into the empty sockets of his old comrad, silently awaiting a reply. Blinking, he batted his eyelids patiently, whistling out a small melody in greeting before it abruptly stopped as his name was dragged out. The raspy voice shattered his eardrums and caused chills to go up his spine, as if nails on a chalkboard.

"Είμαι εδώ, μην στεναχωριέσαι," he responded, patting Sevo's back his touch light and reassuring before a momentary pause ensued. With a throat-clearing interlude, Vědmák inclined his head, his fur briefly obscuring his eyes before he jolted slightly, as though a sudden realization had dawned upon him."Forgive me," he hissed out, voice foreign and tainted with an accent that didn't seem of this world. "I seem to forget.. my tongues."

Lowering himself slightly, he assumed a posture akin to a meerkat, granting Sevo a pair of borrowed eyes. "Many are in the valley today." Raising his nose, he took a sharp inhale and tasted the air with his tongue. "A good day, at least." Falling silent, his darkened eyes remained focused on Sevo, nodding in acknowledgment, as if he possessed sight. "Indeed, my rider is here. I perceived them, even pinpointed their presence, but I will not approach just yet." Scratching his ear with his nails, Vědmák leaned gently against Sevo, gazing into the bustling crowd. "Allow me to accompany you," he offered, "to find your rider." A pause. "ᛁᛊ ᚦᚨᛏ ᚨᛚᚱᛁᚷᚺᛏ?"

Standing, he rose to his full height on his hind legs and teetered momentarily before falling forwards into his typical stance. Vědmák glanced in the direction Sevo indicated, offering another whistled melody, lasting just over a minute. His attention returned to the creature beside him, noticing a trace of unease. Snorting softly, he took a step forward, strategically positioning himself in front of Sevo, effectively diverting the attention of onlookers towards him.

However, either the gazes were that intense, or something was lingering nearby, for Vědmák soon felt himself tense, as if anticipating an attack. Slowly, he turned his head, gazing away from Sevo and focusing upon a mortal before him, whose own eyes grew. "ᛏᚺᛖᚱᛖ ᛁᛊ ᚨ ᚺᚢᛗᚨᚾ," he spoke to Sevo, clicking and chattering his teeth together before silencing himself as the individual before him spoke, her voice grainy against his sensitive ears.

As she complimented him, he remained silent, that is, until a dread-inducing grin unfurled across his features once more. This sinister smile encroached upon most of his face, exposing a macabre set of jagged teeth. Mirroring her own expression, the grin remained plastered to his face, unnmoving, before vanishing with an unsettling abruptness. For a solitary, disconcerting second, he continued to scrutinize the girl, his gaze neutral, before he contorted his neck back toward Sevo. "The homo sapien has found me," he hissed, his head turning slightly as she spoke again, ensuring that a lone, malevolent eye rested upon her.

His rider hinted at a gift, but before witnessing it, and before her further utterance, Vědmák extended his talons, laying them upon her head, as if sealing their bond into place, or whatever the humans called it. A sensation coiled within him, a tormenting tug that sent a shockwave of sinister energy racing up his spine, only to dissipate into a shadowy void. Throughout, Vědmák remained expressionless, even when golden rings were revealed before him.

Staring at them for a moment, Vědmák raised his hand as if prepared to study them, that is, until suddenly dropping it to his side and parting his muzzle instead, rings whisked away into his mouth and swallowed. Pausing, Vědmák twitched, throat rumbling as he coughed up a singular ring, to which had gotten stuck in his throat. He contemplated consuming it again, though refrained. Instead, he allowed it to rest around a singular canine, to which the idea suddenly dawned on him that, well, it was rather the perfect spot for such a piece of jewelry.

Reaching out, he clasped his hands around the woman's before him, and shook. "ᛏᚺᚨᚾᚲ ᛁᛟᚢ!" He whistled, patting her hand before dropping his own once more. 'Such a gift is truly appreciated.'

Ananth
Earth Dragon | New Dragon | Male | Mentions: Kavik, Mariana, Ahura, Skylar, Rhyhor
Indirectly Mentions: Other Dragons, Other Humans

The earth dragon moved along the edge of the forest, dipping into the wooded land when needed to avoid those around him. The thumping of mighty steps made his head pound and his spine rattle, the footfalls louder than any voices could be to his senses. That, though, didn't stop the pulse of adrenaline that swept down his spine when the unnerving, bright eyes of the storm dragon landed on him, and the larger, brutish dragon snarled at him.

Ananth jolted, baring his own teeth in something of a fearful snarl as he approached the group from the opposite side of the boulder from the storm dragon. He watched as one of the women was picked up and carried off a short distance, presumably to be bonded with the storm dragon. Or eaten. The earth dragon found he didn't really care or want to get involved in the brutish display.

Instead, he slowly crept forward, finding his eyes drawn again and again to the man sitting on the boulder, easily coming to the conclusion that the man was his rider. Ananth parted his jaws slightly, gently gripping the back of the mans shirt and tugging him backwards off of the boulder. His two front legs rushed up to catch the tall human, holding him under the arms like one would hold a child, or a small animal.

The brown dragon moved the pair a little further into the forest, his eyes remaining on the storm dragon until he was certain they were far enough. Only then did he set his human on the ground and crouch nearby, barely within physical distance. "Sorry," he said out loud, blinking his large eyes. "I wanted to be away from that storm dragon."

Sevo Archemoros
Dark Dragon | Male | New Dragon | Mentions: Vedmak Ohexis, Genevieve, Ahura, Others

The seemingly descicated dragon twitched his features as the familiar sound of his name, just in a different language, reached his sensitive ears. He flicked his tongue out, much like a snake, and shuddered into an awkward kind of sit where he moved his torso and front legs to face where Vedmak was, while his hind legs faced another direction.

"ᛁ ᚨᛗ ᚹᛖᛚᛚ, ᚠᚱᛁᛖᚾᛞ. ᛁᛟᚢ?" He replied in the language the pair commonly spoke together, Vedmak having taught Sevo several languages in their time together. "With knowledge as vast are yours, I would expect nothing less," his practically wheezed out, his crackley voice almost struggling with the syllables. The gangly creature rose to his feet and weaved his head back and forth rhythmically, as if he had a radar and was trying to detect something. Which he was, he was just trying to narrow down where his own human was.

"Acc-ceptable," he grated out, the words coming out strained, and he swallowed to coat his throat though it rarely helped. However, before he could take a single step, Vedmak spoke once more, drawing Sevo's attention in his direction where the subtle scent of another human drifted to him. His jaws parted to taste the air and he nodded gently at Ved, gently smacking his muzzle against creature's furred leg. "Delightful," he spoke, unseeing sockets trying to locate the human's position, which he did once she started speaking. "ᛁᛟᚢ×ᛚᛚ ᚾᛖᚢᛖᚱ ᚺᚨᚢᛖ ᚨ ᚲᛟᛗᛈᚨᚾᛟᚾ ᚦᚨᛏ ᛊᛗᛖᛚᛚᛊ ᛗᚢᚲᚺ ᛒᛖᛏᛏᛖᚱ ᚦᚨᚾ ᛗᛖ, ᚠᚱᛁᛖᚾᛞ," he joked softly, turning away from the pair and taking a few languid steps in the direction of his own human. "I'm going to try and locate my own human, should I need help I'll return. For now, stay," he informed Vedmak, not wanting to interfere with their bonding process. If he needed help, though, he'd come back for his companion.

He paused when he heard Vedmak speak once more in their shared language and curved his neck to look back at his friend's human. "He says 'thank you' by the way. You'll have to remind him from time to time to speak your language, he forgets," he offered to the human belonging to his friend, but turned to depart from them prompty.

A soft chorus of chirps and clicks emitted from his jaws, and his head swiveled a bit, taking in the information bounced back to him. The group had seemingly dispersed some, with at leas two humans having been moved away, the two dragons going with them. This left his own human mostly alone from what he could tell. There was maybe one another near his human, but he didn't want to take the risk of misjudging, so, as he began to approach his dry voice rasped out.

"Exc-use me," he began, his voice low and terrible, "I believe one of you is my rider. However, as you can see, I cannot. Please, do not be alarmed, but, also, do not move." Without any other warning, Sevo stepped forward and began to sniff at the pair. He started with what he found was the woman first, his whiskers brushing over her and his nostrils flaring. As he took in her scent and brushed against her, he felt nothing. She was not his.

Then he turned his attention to the second, a male based on the scent. He stepped closer, allowing his whiskers to trail against the young man so he knew where he was and parted his jaws, inhaling deeply to scent the air. Something in him seemed to sing, alerting him this was the one. To make sure though, he reached out with his tongue and slowly dragged it up the human's neck and face, the contact confirming this was his rider as his bond snapped into place.

Withdrawing from his Rider, Sevo rocked back onto his haunches and stared down at him with unseeing sockets. "Greetings," gravely voice spoke, "I am Sevo Archemoros. What might be your name, child?"

Skylar

New Rider | Female | Mentions: (directly) Ahura, Mariana, Kavik, others

Watching as Mariana lowered her hood, Skylar felt her breath catch. Striking icy sea-foam blue eyes that resembled a frozen wasteland gazed back at her. Mariana's lips were a perfect cupid's bow shape, and her flawless creamy complexion seemed to glow in the light. Her chestnut hair cascaded down like a waterfall of silk, framing her face in a way that accentuated her natural beauty. She seemed to be a living work of art.

Just by the way Mariana stood and spoke, Sky could tell her presence had a way of capturing everyone's attention. It wasn't just her physical beauty but also an aura of confidence and charisma that surrounded her, drawing people in like a moth to a flame. In a sense, Mari's aura challenged Skylar's. Skylar was known for her radiating, extroverted personality, but Mariana held a cold air that was equally captivating. It was a contrast that intrigued Skylar. Skylar was never one to be flustered by anyone. Skylar prided herself on her confidence and outgoing nature, but being near Mariana, challenged that self-assuredness.

Skylar couldn't help but laugh at herself inwardly. She didn't even know the girl, and here she was, already feeling like a love-struck puppy. Thankfully, on the outside, she was able to keep a calm composure except for a soft blush creeping over her cheeks. She already had an excuse ready if anyone pointed it out - the sun was out, and she was simply enjoying the warm weather and finally getting a bit of a tan.

Skylar was determined not to let her momentary infatuation with Mariana become the center of attention. She shifted her sapphire eyes away from Mariana and towards the boy, Kavik, sitting on the rock. Even seated, Skylar could tell he was huge. Not just muscular, but also in height. Kavik was a handsome young man, with a sculpted body that suggested a life of physical activity and strength. She found herself drawn to the scars on his face, curious about how those injuries had happened. As she studied his face, Kavik's eyes were also unique. They were a vibrant brown, almost amber in color. They stood out perfectly against his black hair and tanned skin.

Skylar's once sunny disposition faded into a frown as she listened to Mariana discuss her father. Pre-approved? She didn't know much about nobles, but from what she heard, it all sounded incredibly controlling. The idea of having to follow every command and restriction was hard for her to fathom. She was thankful her father had allowed her the freedom to explore and grow. Her childhood had been spent chasing him through the woods, learning about animals and plants, and it had shaped her into the person she was today. As Mariana spoke about her father, Skylar felt a sharp pang in her heart, a deep appreciation for the bond she shared with her father. She missed him so much, it pained her. Skylar did her best to tune back into the conversation, her frown quickly dissipating into a soft smile. However, her attention was abruptly diverted by the small cries of shock from nearby students.

As she turned around, her heart skipped a beat. A large Storm dragon was heading straight for their group. Before she could fully react, the dragon snatched up Mariana, picking her up as if she were a mere morsel. Skylar felt her hand slowly lower from her agape jaw, her shock and terror giving way to a growing sense of confusion. She held her breath as she studied the situation, trying to make sense of what was happening. The dragon had moved Mariana a distance away from the group. If he had intended to harm Mariana, he could have done so already, but instead, he just held her. Skylar's initial confusion gave way to astonishment as she considered the possibility. He had to be Mariana's dragon.

Skylar barely had time to turn as she watched an Earth dragon plucked Kavik off the rock. What the hell is going on? Suddenly, a rancid odor assaulted her senses, her face contorted at the smell. That’s when she felt whiskers unexpectedly brush against her. Stiff as a board, she slowly turned to face an eyeless dragon.

The sight and smell of the dragon left her mouth dry, a mixture of intrigument and horror washed over her. Though the creature was captivating in his own peculiar way, Skylar knew that he wasn't her dragon. She remained frozen, silently observing as the dragon extended his tongue and began to lick Ahura. Suppressing a laugh, she watched her for her friends reaction.

Kavik Forger || New Rider || Dragon: Ananth || M: *inhales* Mariana, Skylar, Ahura, Rhyhor, Sevo, Ananth

"Me? Suitors? Mariana, the only time I sneak out to interact with people is when I break into a castle to see you," he snorted, holding in a laugh. "If any potential suitors saw me, I think they'd switch to potential bounty hunters in a heartbeat."

Besides, he was still just an apprentice; he still had a month or two left before "graduating," and maybe then he could think about suitors. Not that any of them would catch his eye. Apparently, he had a type, and that type happened to be a single person that was not only out of his league but also surrounded by folks who would lose their shit if they found the two together.

Kavik smoothed over his features as he heard new voices growing louder and looked up to see a small young man sporting long, berry-colored hair and an upbeat girl approaching Mariana. They were heading in from the direction of Medi, whose face was now obscured as he walked in the opposite direction. Were they friends of that unsufferable creature? Kavik's gaze hardened, though he kept his expression passive. He relaxed somewhat when Mariana greeted them pleasantly; if she could say hello in a jovial manner, then they were definitely not friends of Medi.

Kavik's right eyebrow raised the slightest bit as the young woman -- Skylar, she'd said her name was -- grew a little rosy cheeked when Mariana lowered her hood. When Mariana introduced him, he offered a short bow to the both of them, though he was grateful to focus back on his friend when she resumed the conversation. He wasn't one for talking, let alone with strange nobles, no matter how kind of friendly he perceived them to be.

"Glad you were able to get away for a bit," he mused, running a finger over his lower lip. As the storm dragon grew closer, Kavik grew on edge and shifted his stance, in case he was forced to move. He was not expecting the creature to lunge forward and snatch Mariana up. His heart skipped a beat and he began to move forward -- what was he going to do; fight a dragon? Well if it saved his friend from being eaten, then - but she wasn't eaten yet. Maybe she'd been claimed? Kavik debated on moving closer to escape both the social predicament Ahura and Skylar had unintentionally placed him in and to check on Mariana.

His instincts and plans were thwarted anyway as jaws closed on the back of his shirt and dragged him back over the edge of the boulder, where he felt large, scaly arms hold him firmly in place. The boulder disappeared from his sight as he and whatever dragon was holding him moved deeper into the woods.

When he was finally set down, Kavik was too dazed to really comprehend all that had happened in the thirty seconds that had just gone by. It took a moment to register that the dragon had spoken, and then a longer moment to form his own words. "I... um... Did that look like a bond snatch with the storm dragon or a hungry snatch?"

His words felt slow and thick on his tongue and he scowled, clearing his throat. "Sorry. I wasn't expecting... you. Any of this."

Kavik's eyes moved over the dragon, feeling some strange piece of his soul click into place with a satisfaction he didn't know he'd been lacking. The dragon was unlike any he had ever heard of, sporting strange wings that ran down the entirety of his body and six legs. His eyes were interesting as well, being much larger than any of the others he'd seen. A handsome dragon, nonetheless. Actually, this dragon was kind of adorable -- not that Kavik would say it out loud; he didn't want to offend the creature.

Borealis Alarie

Female Rider || Dragon: Saore || M: (Dir) None. (Dir/Ind) Saore. (Ind) None.

~

Borealis didn't even dare move too much. Even trying to stay away from the crowd was difficult now, since people were pushing and shoving each other around as they all tried to get the best view possible. Even worse, a giant group of like five people decided to shove their way around to stand right next to her, making her inch even farther away, trying to act like she's not nervous when she really is. She felt really awkward for not standing in the crowd with the others, but she definitely wasn't feeling like being trampled by them all right now.

Borealis noticed a dragon examining the crowd, her serpent-like eyes surveying the place. It looked like the dragon was trying to find someone. Maybe she already has a rider, and is looking for them? She couldn't help but stare slightly at the magnificent dragon. Rather than having scales, the dragon seemed to have bright yellow and white fur covering her body. It was stunningly beautiful, shining just a little bit due to the sun. It was kempt and neat as if the dragon spent an hour every day cleaning herself specifically so that her fur would reflect the sun the way it did.

The dragon stood up, acting as if she was in a hurry by how fast she stood up. Then, her long serpent-like neck twisted in Borealis' direction. When the dragon's eyes met hers, her heart began to speed up in fear. She didn't know why the dragon just all the sudden turned to stare at her, but she could only hope that the dragon didn't want to eat her, and was just looking at her in curiosity.

Ahura De Mevius
Male | 18 | New Rider

Mentions: Skylar, Mariana, & Kavik [ Group - dir. / ind. ], Rhyor & Ananth [ind.] , Sevo Archemoros

The young man had to hold back the snicker he was about to give into as received his compliment for his performance, and he gave a mock bow as a grin crossed his features. And he was about to speak more when Mariana and Skylar introduced themselves to each other - and he couldn't help but teasingly wiggle a brow at Skylar after noticing the faint blush on her cheeks after meeting the lovelt Lady Cross. He simply muffled his own giggle with hhis hand - eyes creasingly slightly as they alighted with mischief. After hearing Mariana's response about her father, he gave his own groan of misery and gave her a look of empathy because he understood her position a bit too well. After all, it had taken nearly a year of conviving his own parents to let him attend and even then - they still were a bit wary about him to this day joining in such an important event in the Kingdom's history. But, he wouldn't miss this chance for the world - because, he would definetly would find life a bit dull and boring if he couldln't live on his own terms.

"Understandable Mariana," Ahura said solemly, "I had to convince my parents for a whole year, before they finally let me come. Not to metion, Father's paranoia about trusting other noble families after one poisoned Mother, and other near disasters within the family - though, I would say he has a right to be overprotective." and he hung his head slightly - an unreadable expression crossed his face briefly, but one would definetly think there was more to the story ; giving a soft sigh, he shook the bad thoughts away, and then looking at Mariana with a fierce determination he spoke, "If anything happens, tell your father that I dragged you out, and helped you get here. I don't want you in trouble for something that shouldn't even be a problem - look at us, two trapped birds banging at our gilded cage, eh?"

But before any formal action could be given, two dragons - seemingly in sync, came out of nowhere and took the two teenagers they were conversing with. Kavik, the young lad, being taken by what appeared to be a Earth Dragon and then Mariana by a ginormous Storm Dragon. He blinked in purebewilderment at the situation, and looked to Skylar for words - only to find her as shocked as he was. So he trying to remain composure, cleared his throat, "Well, that's one way to make an entrance." he murmered softly - reaching and grabbing Skylar's hand and giving it a soft squeeze for reassurment. And that's when an aura came to him, one that chilled his spine and sent shock throughtout his nerves - those nerves seeming to spike, and shout out against this aura - the aura giving off one chilling feeling ; danger. He could feel his body stiffen at the feeling and his breath hitch in anticipation, it was like time had slowed down to torment him. What creature held such an aura?

He then smelt the creature before seeing it ; the beast giving off an interesting smell - one reminding him of a pine forest, yet there was a unerving scent lingering within it - something akin to rotting flesh, like a forest that had been descimated by a rabid creature, one that only hunted for sport, leaving the corpses of deer and any poor creature alike lifeless and soulless - a haunted forest. His body shuddered at the thought, and he sucked in a breath to try and steel his nerves, but the wave of nausea hitting him was overwhelming ; the poor boy was holding an iron grip on Skylar's arm and he felt like he was going to throw up or faint ; possibly both. And that's when he heard it, and if alarm bells weren't ringing even more - then it would seem they'd be blaring at this point. The voice was raspy and croakey, like someone had forgetten to give the creature water to drink and a frog was stuck in it's throat and he had to mentally scoff as the dragon had said ; not to be alarmed, but then the words 'cannot see ' and 'one of you is my rider ' registered. He could feel his beating heart slow down slightly at the words, but his guard was still up. And he watched with intrigue and settling fear as the dragon sniffed Skylar, and it seemed she wasn't the one the creature was looking for - but then it turned to him. The whiskers were coarse and scratchy against his skin, and the dragon's breath was warm and not pleasant - he had to supress his urge to wriggle away, but he managed to stay still and let the beast do it's weird introductions.

But there was something within him, trying to calm him down - and trying to let him know something. And that's when he felt something snap into place, and he had to wince at the pain. Ah, so this was his dragon - how delightful ( he though with sarcasm ). He didn't know how he felt about being paired with this dragon for the rest of his life and he swore that he felt his eye twitch. And before he could even make his next move - that's when he felt something warm and slimy, press against his skin and he gave what could be described as a hiss of displeasure at the action - much akin to a cat hissing in regard to being forced into water, and he was tempted to try and punch the dragon but that would be dumb. But he did not like the sensation nor texture of the tongue on his body in any shape or form and he scowled with all he could and scrunched up his face in annoyance. He didn't do well with physical touch and now this, he hoped this wouldn't be a normal occurrence. But it caused the dragon to confirm the same thing he did - that was his dragon, and he was the dragon's rider. And that's when he heard that voice again and he learned the name of his dragon. Well, he had to make some sort of impression.

"My name is Ahura De Mevius," he said in reply ; while trying to wipe the slimy saliva off his face - only for it to be quiet sticky and then just coating his hand as he took it off and thin lines and whisps of saliva forming. He nearly gagged, but he gave a brave gulp to keep it down. "And presumably I am your Rider. Might assume you're a Dark Dragon, and that's why your scales are so different? And also, would I presume that you would prefer to be under the shade at this current moment ; rather than being exposed to others? We can move if it's better to talk that way." He said, his voice mellifluous spoke with its natural charm and wit.
