Matt would be chosen, he knew it. The gut feeling of his was inmistakable. My powers are too strong to let them pass me off. He thought. He knew they would force him, though he wouldnt want to. He found himself wandering towards the market, his favorite place to be. Matt saw Hope, and slightly steered clear of her, though he was interested in what she was doing.

Kai watched the mystery man leave, arching one slender eyebrow. She turned away, seeing Matt make his way into the forest. This confused Kai, but she didn't press the matter. She trusted Matt,Hbu she wasn't sure he trusted her.

Surprised at being put in charge, Kai stomped back into the hideout. Upon entering, she collided with an unsuspecting younger man, headed out. He appeared about twenty, of average height, with spiky black hair. Kai backhanded him, causing him to humble to the ground. His hand pressed against his cheek, his gaze fixed angrily on Kai. "Watch where you're going next time." Kai hissed, using her power to make her eyes appear as if there was a fire burning in their depths.

Everything seemed fine, so Kai decided to head to the bakery in the marketplace. She told everyone an would be in her room, but snuck out the window. Valient and Caligo waited for her just outside the forest. Kai hopped onto Caligo back, the huge cat easily able to carry her light frame.

In the village, Kai spotted Hope skirting around the outside. With any luck, Hope would have texted usted the camp to be in safe hands, so wouldn't mind Kai stepping out for a moment. The royal stables sat on one side, and Kai spotted her brother exiting on his horse. She nodded curtly to him, then averted her gaze. He pretended not to see her, likely out of embarrassment that the girl riding the cat was his sister.

Just as Kai was entering the bakery, telling Caligo to stay outside, she caught sight of Matt. So this was where he had been going. Interesting. Kai stepped into the bakery, breathing in the delicious smells of freshly baked pastries. Amazing, absolutely amazing.

Matt went to the fresh fruit stand and bumped into it Accidently-on-purpose as he called it. Many fruits fell and Matt moved aside to let the man pick them up. Matt makes his way behind the stand and grabs a few fruit, two apples, and some bananas. The stand owner doesnt notice, busy picking up the fruit that fell. Matt moves on with a small smirk. He walks to the bakery and see's Kai. Though he would like to speak to her, he knew it would be best to move on as a normal masked teen. He nods at Kai and passes her an apple and some bananas. Matt then repeats his scheme though at the bakery. Loaves of bread fall, and the merchant scrambles to pick them up. Matt grabs some muffins and pound cakes, slipping them in his jacket. He looks at Kai before leacing quickly and discretly. He see's some guard's heading his way. They see him and begin running toward's him. Oh god, this wasnt expected. Matt thought in a panic. Matt turn's on his heel and run's, the guards approaching quickly. Guard's show up in front of him. He turns right but Guard's were there too. Matt turns left, but there too, Guard's were approaching. He hoped in a panic that Kai or even Hope, though he hated her would show up and help.

Kai watched the events at the bakery play out with interest, though wasn't entirely displeased with them. As Matt passed her, she slipped a hand into his coat, pulling out two muffins. These she placed in the satchel at her side.

Of course, Kai wasn't planning on paying for any of her food, so employed a favorite tactic of hers. She moved like a shadow throughout the customers, bending the light so they wouldn't notice her taking their money, food and occasionally jewelry.

All of her new items were deposited into the satchel, Kai making sure to tightly close the top before exiting the shop. In the square, an exciting event had arisen. Guards, quite a few in fact, had surrounded Matt.

A light smile played on Kia's lips. "Oh, good. I was getting bored," she murmured to herself, silent!y sliding her sword from her sheath. She took two quick steps, leaped, and flipped gracefully over the heads of the nearest guards. They looked up in shock, only able to try to defend themselves as Kai flicked the sword over their heads.

Kai quickly dispatched three, leaving them bleeding on the geound, puddles of the sticky red liquid pooling beneath their agonized bodies. Kai made sure not to fatally wound any of them, just enough to debilitated them. She turned to Matt with a grin. "Need some help?"

" I was planning on it. " Matt say's in his usual carefree manner. " I also know you took my muffins" he say's smiling as he placed himself back to back with Kai. " Got a blade to spare he ask's, measuring the distance mantally between him and the guard's.

Kai laughed at the muffin comment, taking one from her pocket. "Oh, you mean this? Yah, I figured you didn't need all of them." She threw the baked treat into the face of a guard, startling him. He threw up his hands to block it, a mistake clearly. Kai swiped her sword through the front of the man's armor, slicing through the flash of both arms. He cried out, sinking to the ground.

"Right, a spare." Kai reached into a hidden pocket on the inside of her left boot, bringing out a pair of wickedly sharp knives, their boots encrusted with rubies. "Don't lose those please, stole them off a pretty rich guy. It'll be hard to get more." A lie, her brother had given them to her.

Kai handed the knives to Matt, pressing her back up against his and carefully watching the surrounding guards.

Matt looks carefully at the knives. Throwing knives were his specialty. He grabs a lightweight chain out of his pocket and attachs it to the bottom of the knives. Kai hadnt noticed the chain link at the bottom. Matt swung the knives a few times testing the momentum and weight of them.

Hope saw what was happening and discreetly walked over, charging up her electricity in her body, making her eyes glow an unatural green, and she reached out and touched the one guard on the shoulder, and he immediately fell to the ground, convulsing. Now, a static aura surrounded Hope, no longer as subtle as she would have liked, but that didn't matter to her, as long as those two were safe. She looked up at them, the glow receding slightly. She gave a small smile and a nod. The camp must be alright, or she knew Kai wouldn't have left. She knew she was probably the last person they wanted to see, but now she'd gotten herself involved. She pulled out her rapier, making sure it had some electrical charge before she used it all up, which left her drained, but she couldn't black out. She had to make sure they'd be alright.

Matt looked briskly at Hope and nodded back. He swung the knives toward's the guard on his right distracting him slightly. Matt took avantage of te distraction and threw the knives, hitting the man in the chest. He yanked the chain back and watched as it hit the man on his other side. The two men fall and Matt swings the knives back to him.
