Interesting. It's always been 30 as long as I've been around. Perhaps they're breeding to fathers with less than 30, or didn't have enough space in their den

Your wolf can have 3 pups if it's less than 40 but it's no longer guaranteed to be 3.

I don't think you have to have a 30 cp maternal/charisma for 3 pups, it only boosts the chances because I've had my alpha female give birth to 3 pup litters twice now at only 21 maternal

"You should sleep more, my dear."

"Yes, sleep would be good for you, it'll help keep you energized so that you can help Anika."

"Bite her ear."

"No! Don't!"

"Don't listen to them, they're weak. Kill her. Kill her! Kill. Kill. Kill! Taste her blood! I bet it's sweet. Bathe in it. Cover your fur with it. Relish it! Imagine it!"

"No."

The simple word was breathed allowed gently, the male's ears flattened against his head. Mornings were hit or miss for the male, truthfully, some days they were more active than others. Today was one of those days where they just wouldn't shut up. Even Selene was drowned out by the noise they were all making, and it was making it hard for Tavarious to focus on anything.

Movement against his side pulled his attention to the female rest beside him, her face pressed into his much lighter fur. His ears came up for a moment, before flattening again, eyes glancing to his other side where the dark she-wolf he adored was resting as well.

"Shh, Tavarious, you might wake her," she spoke quietly, drawing his attention back to his Alpha female. He had a feeling she was already waking, but he wasn't going to speed along the process either. So he laid there, quietly listening as the voices continued to speak, their words falling on deaf ears, or, well, mostly def. He made a face every now and then to their words.

A different once, one he knew belonged to the figure to his side, drew his attention to the waking female. "Good morning, Nika," he offered quietly, and tried to lay his head down, but immediately lifted it back up. The angry voice had grown louder and was shouting as loud as it good.

"Hush, you're being too loud," he murmured and flicked his ear before pawing at it with his right.

Layla
Omega Mountain | Alpha | Female | Mentions: Berengar, Open

Sapphire orbs flickered open, pupils slowly dilating and helping to awake the lass’s mind like a steady rising sun. A low hum left the canid’s throat, reverberating throughout her maw and seeming to bounce off of each and every white tooth . After a few serene seconds of silent thought, she lifted her tired neck and shoulders from the once unconscious position on her side . Jaws unhurriedly parted, giving way to the lolling tongue that crept out from within, sleepy-lids falling to a half-close as the pretty canine, mid-yawn , rose from the posture on her side to balance once again on tired, trembling paws.

She blinked a few times, taking note of the landscape and the den that she was just sleeping in, upper body draped out across the grass like she had somehow crawled in her sleep . A sleepy smile spread across her young features, and after shaking out her already mostly pristine pelt, and stretching down upon her forelegs in a typical downward dog, she was finally ready to start her day.

Already she took note of the fact that Ber was no-where in sight. She knew where he was though, no doubt.... Patrolling, as he always did. Always so worried about the pack’s health and safety, something that she always admired about him.

Her right audit twitched just slightly at the passing wind, a breeze that wasn’t exactly downwind so the female was partly unable to tell exactly which direction he had started off in. Alas, with her nose lowered towards the dusty earth, her balanced gait carried her over to the nearby pond, where the she-wolf drank until she felt the last few droplets of slumber leave her eyes, her paws, her mind. There was no room for exhaustion, in leading . She knew that all too well.

Luckily though, no nightmares had plagued the lupine’s mind the night before. It was a roll of the dice really, and one apart of a not -so-enjoyable game. Still though, it was slumber regardless, something that all living beings on the earth needed to partake in.

As she lifted her multi-hued cranium, droplets of refreshing aqua falling from her damp maw, she debated on her next moves. After a few seconds of silence, save for the sounds of lilted chirps and awaking insects, she started off as a meander towards the tree- line. Limping a bit on her foreleg, something that always seemed to particularly bother her in the light of the early morning. She didn’t really tend to draw any attention to it though, she did not want pity, they all had their problems.

Akakios
Nomadic Pack || Male || Mentions: Tavarious, Anika

He had been awake for most of the night.

For most, silence was what helped lull them to sleep, but to Akakios, silence was the most deafening sound of them all. The quietness of his surroundings had kept him from his slumber, only his own breathing being heard among the hushness that the forest offered.

He despised it.

So he had rested, his head propped up on his paws for most of the night, stealing all but a few minutes of sleep before the panic set in and forced him awake. It was only when distant murmurs were heard did Akakios finally feel himself drifting away, but by then, it was too late. Morning had set in, and the others were beginning to stir.

A soft groan escaped the side of his mouth, head rising. Drooped eyes eye gazed around groggily, landing upon the figures of both Anika and Tavarious not too far away. He blinked at them in acknowledgment before turning away, stretching out his front paws with a wince.

Grimacing, Kios had released a small hiss of pain. While his body held no open wounds, it held several closed ones. Scars ranging in both width and length remained scattered among his figure, causing a familiar feeling of discomfort to arise. These scars, although healed, offered a dull ache he often felt, especially in the mornings. Having remained dormant throughout the night meant that with every move he made, his scars stretched. That was what caused the feeling of pain to shoot through him.

With his good eye, Akakios strained to take in the environment around him before finally managing to hoist himself onto his haunches. For a moment, he rested like that, until he proceeded to stand entirely. Although young, the male often felt as if he were in the body of an elder with the way it worked. He held a light limp in his hind leg, one of his eyes was blind, and hell, he was missing half a tail, not to mention a chunk out of his muzzle.

He was a fright, even now, Akakios turned away from the resting figures of those around him, as if humiliated for them to see his ugliness. Instead, he held his back to them as he addressed them.

"What is the plan for today?" He grumbled out quietly, ears flinching as his good eye slightly turned to land upon Anika. "Oh, and good morning," he added on, singular eye switching from both Anika to Tavarious, and back again.

Bǫlverkr
Omega Mountain || Beta || Male || Mentions: Open

"Shut up."

Eyes an eerie blank, the scrawny male sat perched upon a low oak branch, balancing on it with his legs as he teetered around. A low grin seeped across his muzzle, tongue flickering out like a snake as he stared at a hole. Oh, but not just any hole, one that held a squirrel's nest within it.

"You're breaking my concentration, shut up!"

Pushing out the words between his teeth, his ears flickered, eyes wildly shooting around as if he were speaking to five wolves at once.

"What's your idea then? Hm? ..No, that won't do- Don't yell at me!" Snapping at the air, Bǫlverkr swatted at his head, ramming his right paw against it.

Stupid voices.

Arguing with himself, the male shook his head before slamming it once more with his paw. Blinking, his head shot up, eyes snapping back onto the hole. There was a squirrel within it. He had waited, watched as it returned to its home for most of the early morning. It pestered him so, it's stupid chittering throughout the day. Indeed, Bǫlverkr was determined to get rid of it once and for all. He wanted it to just remain silent.

Taking a step forward, he continued crawling across the branch, originally managing to climb it due to a nearby bolder. He had spent most of his morning trying to land upon the branch, and finally, finally, he had done it! Now, all that was left was to kill off the stupid, stupid squirrel. Thus, he slowly crept, head lowered as small giggles escaped his throat.

"Shh, we can't let it see us," he chuckled. All knew by now that Bǫlverkr was strange. An oddity, perhaps, but behind his intrusive thoughts and voices remained someone rather cunning. These little breakdowns he often had seemed to heighten his senses at times and offer him an odd sense of intelligence and no, the current moment was not an example of that.

"Jump? I'm not going to jump. You jump."

Shaking out his head once more to block the voices, Bǫlverkr stood facing the trunk of the oak. Using his hind legs to hoist himself up while his front legs leaned against the trunk, the male stuck his head into the hole.

"Well, helloooo," he chirped, staring straight at the poor, sad little grey squirrel. Its beady eyes met his own widened ones, its body shaking with fright. "Eh, I'll get this over with quickly." Speaking to the squirrel, the beta stuck his snout inside and opened his mouth, prepared to clamp it shut around the little creature and-

A sudden yowl escaped Bǫlverkr's throat as a sudden shoot of pain was felt upon his nose. Head whipping away from the hole, he began to splutter in pain. His front paws left the trunk of the tree, causing Bǫlverkr to balance upon the branch with only his two hind legs. He had managed to stay upright for a moment, until gravity and balance had won, sending the poor male toppling off of the tree and landing with a grunt on the ground.

Releasing a groan, Bǫlverkr lay upon the dirt before blinking, the pain upon his nose not decreasing, but worsening. When he opened his eyes, it was then when he found out why.

For there, at the tip of his nose, hung the squirrel. It's long teeth clamped upon it.

"You," he hissed, the squirrel still dangling from his nose before he released another scream. Standing up slowly, the beta snapped at the air, attempting to snatch the squirrel to no avail. It was only when the creature increased its pressure on his nose did Bǫlverkr finally begin to holler. "Get it off, get it off!" He began to screech like a child, swinging his head around before breaking out into a run, the poor squirrel still hanging on for dear life.

"Somebodyhelpme!"

And so Bǫlverkr, the beta of the pack and who was meant to be a representative figure, continued running around in circles, a squirrel danging from his nose.

...
At the sudden screaming and yowling Ash's ears stood up, her fur bristled, her tail tucked under her once again shaking legs and her pupils dilated so that hardly any iris was visible. Ash jerked her head around in search of the cause of the noise, what was going on? Was there an attack? An ambush? Had they found her?
...
She ran to the source of the noise as fast as her skinny legs could take her. Ash wasn't a coward no matter how scared, panicked or anxious she got and she hoped she was brave. Maybe other wolves wouldn't have been so suspicious about these noises, but Ash was, she'd learned not to trust, to be alert or maybe that was just how she was, for good and for bad. Terrified Ash hurtled through the valley following the shouts still ringing in her ears.
...
Fire blossomed around her, encircling the small wolf.
...
Ash began to panic, her whole body was shaking. No, no, no she thought desperately.
.
It isn't real Ash, It's just your brain tricking you. You can run through it!
.
But what if I can't? What if it is real? No, it's not! It never is! Ash! Snap out of it!
.
The flames were drawing closer, their red tounges licking at her thighs. Ash thought that she could feel it, but was that just in her mind? She knew deep down that it couldn't be real but... She couldn't bring herself to fully believe that. She never could. She was weak.
.
No, I'm not!
.
The thoughts rushed through Ashes head, making her dizzy. She closed her eyes, squeezing the tight shut. Trying to bock out the image of fire. Red stained her eyelids. Shaking uncontrollably with fright she lay down and curled up in a protective ball, Someone, anyone...
.
Help...
...
The italics aren't voices they are just Ash's thoughts :)

Acheron

Omega Mountain | Pack Member | Male | Mentions: Bolverkr

Steady orbs were trained consistently on the line where the trees began. More subtle at first, small spruces and elm saplings sporadically decorating the green fields, once bare many years back. The further one shall step, the denser the trees got, the breaths of air tasting of sweet sap and earthiness.

Acheron was looking deeply into the forest, pupils dilated a bit as he breathed in the scent of wet oak and prey. Mammals, avians, fish swimming in the nearby rivers.... Although the male preferred anything over the latter. His tongue flicked over his dark nose, a small scoff leaving the brute’s lips. He had been out there since before the sun’s rays had routinely decided to creep up and illuminate the dark sky.

An eartip twitched a little bit at the awful , seemingly terrifiedsounds that plagued his mind. He gave a low growl, gaze swiveling around in the direction of the annoying vocals. He knew who it was from. The male canid in question always seemed so tough, so brutal and strong.... Although he wasn’t necessarily brave, at all times. He frightened almost all other beings though, and the voices within his mind often made him unpredictable. Ache had many of the same problems, although he didn’t quite see them as problems, per se.

He tries to view his weaknesses as strengths , although he is by no means a cup-half- full kind of canine. With another low grown, he swiveled his body around from the sitting position and rose to his paws, limps stretching out as his jaw snapped towards the wind . Hush your stupid whistling. He shook out his dark plumage, heading off towards the commotion as the sun finalized its rising.

Soon enough, the brute arrived by the large tree, watching the fellow canine get mauled by a little rodent. Eyes honed in on him as his broken voice barked out for help, and if a wolf could raise an eyebrow, Ache certainly would have.

Orbs watched him for a few long seconds, pink tongue rolling over a subtly chipped tooth. It would seem as there was a frightened little deer standing before him with a lion on it’s haunches. He gave a little scoff, breath leaving his nose as he moved a forepaw forwards on the dirt .

Quickly, he stepped up to the lupine , looking down into his eyes with a bit of a look that said “really?” Before grabbing the little mammal in his jaws, feeling warm blood rush through it’s veins against the tissue of his mouth. Instead of biting into the soft rodent through, he simply tossed it against a tree, expecting it to at least fall unconscious. Instead , it simply lay there for a few short seconds of stillness, before getting up and clambering back up the tree.

He rushed over to it and rested his paws up on the bark, nails leaving marks like a bear’s . Damn squirrel!

Anika
Nomadic Pack | Alpha Female | Mentions: Tavarious, Akakios, Nomadic Pack

The onyx dame remained silent as she listened to the male speak, not moving as his voice rumbled both from his maw and his chest to settle in her mind. She wasn't sure what she thought of the voices that plagued the alabaster male. Somewhat, they were a part of him, they helped make Tavarious, but at the same time, they were loud, sometimes mocking, especially the most aggressive one. Her heart ached in sympathy for the male, her friend, but, truly, there was nothing she could do.

"Are they being too much again?" She whispered, keeping her voice hushed so that other pack members wouldn't quite hear her words. Whilst she was sure at least a few of them knew of his condition, she didn't wish to spread the news around, especially if he wished to keep it quiet in front of the other pack members.

Slowly, Anika moved her head to tuck her chin against her throat, twisting her face to peer at the other pack members. Her gaze latched onto Akakios, a male with gruesome features. Part of her wondered, as it often did, what happened to cause such injuries. She could only assume it had something to do with an old pack, some cruel individuals who thought him unworthy.

She hated wolves like that.

At night, when nightmares sometimes plagued her or she woke randomly, she would see the pale brute still awake, head on his paws, eyes open. She wasn't sure how he would still stand most days. She would have to ask him why he didn't sleep. Was it insomnia? Nightmares? She wasn't especially close with him, but... he was her pack member. She cared about him all the same.

"Good morning," she uttered in his direction, lightly pushing her body away from Tavarious and sitting up. The 'plan' for the day, yes. There was... not much planned for the day. She needed a whelping den, and she should, perhaps, send some of her wolves hunting. But they had been travelling for so long, resting would be good, too.

"We need to find a whelping den," she said softly, so as not to rudely bring the still slumbering members to the awake world. "And, when we do find or make one, we will rest. We've all had a hard journey to get here." They needed to scout out the pack, too. Opal would be the best choice, her size would be good, but at the same time her aggression could prove fatal if she attacked one of the Omega Mountain Pack wolves.

"Later in the day, when the other pack is likely lounging, I would like Chinook and Alder to further scout out the territory. Do not be seen, if you see an Omega Mountain wolf, leave them without being spotted. If they see you, bring them to us, and we will keep them as a hostage." It was the best course of action.

If they had a hostage, they could be used as leverage against the pack at a later date.

"Tonight, if we are feeling up to it and hungry enough, I think a hunt would be nice, but not completely necessary."

Chinook || Nomadic Pack Member || M: Open

The sun was peeking through the branches around him, dappling the canine's fur with an added medley of lighter colors. The warmth that was beginning to greet the world did not reach his eyes, however, nor did it penetrate his heart. Chinook stared with frosty yellow eyes at the scene before him: wolves were waking and moving around, with some of his packmates congregating to discuss... whatever it was they discussed.

The faint mention of his own name snagged his attention for a brief moment, but, as it was not a direct address to himself, he allowed it to exit his thoughts. If it were important, he would find out soon enough. Chinook could not be bothered to go and simper pitifully at anyone's paws, whether or not he was being talked about. It had sounded like his alpha's voice, so he assumed plans for the day were being discussed.

After all, he never broke rules, really. His decisions were carefully executed so as not to break rules that would cause detriment to his pack. He wasn't a kind soul, true, but Chinook wasn't heartless. He did care, to an extent, and he'd rather have them safe than not -- especially through his own doing. Any threat to his pack had him to deal with, and he was not one to take those lightly. Or gently.

The brute licked his maw and allowed his gaze to rove over the pack once more before he silently stood and slinked off into the nearby shadows, once again shrouded in comfortable darkness. Now, he would wait. For what he was not sure, but, until he was summoned, he would wait and watch.

Rin wasn't sure the last time she had gotten a full nights rest. It seemed she was shaken awake every few hours, only getting precious moments of sleep. She didn't mind anyway, Sleep wasn't a big comfort for her, too much time to think. Relive old troubles.

It seemed some members of her pack had the same problems. She always made sure to nod or flick an ear at them, it was polite thing to do anyways. She could feel the pack suddenly come alive though. Her eye had lost all vision yes, but her ears and nose worked well, and when pack members slowly came out of their dens, she felt a little more comforted.

She got up stretching. "I'm going on a stroll!" She stated to no wolf in particular, it just felt better to announce her ideas. She walked, picking up a recongizable scent. Acheron, a member of her pack who intrigued her. She'd seen him leave, but they had not uttered a word to one another. She guessed Acheron was just the silent stoic type. She followed the scent, maybe she could finally talk to him.

The scent was getting stronger when a howl broke the still air, making Rin's fur stand on end. She quickened her pace, hiding in large foilage. She was no fighter, but she'd rather know what terrible dangers was lurking in their territory then running back to camp.

Fortunatly their were no danger, unfortnatually it seemed Bolverkr was in a pinch. She slipped out of the foliage as Acheron threw the rodent against the tree. She simply stepped over it and padded toward Bolverkr, stretching to reach his nose and lick the blood off of it. "Squirrels were always a trouble." She comforted the still on edge male. She turned to Acheron with a kind and tired smile. "Glad I could find you too."

...
Rocky opened his chocolate coloured orbs, one of them, a misty swirl of pale grey, like a cloud, coated it, as if someone had painted it over with a thin layer of paint, leaving streaks of iris and pupil to peep through. He glanced around sullenly, he unlike many had slept a decent nights sleep, he usually slept well, he like most here did have a well... History, but it didn't seem to plague him quite as much. Sure he hated it and thinking about it made him physically sick yet he didn't dwell on it, the past should stay in the past.
...
He stretched out a his shaggy black legs and yawned. Mornings, they were so peaceful, with the birds chirping, water splashing and the sound of his packmates waking, in his ears or ear more like. He slightly envied the wolves who had got their flaws in heroic battles, dangerous rescues and all that stuff, it made him kinda embarrassed that he'd got his by falling over. Yep, he'd fallen over and it had chamged his life forever. He snorted, he couldn't actually remember the fall which almost made it worse.
...
His eyelids drooping, Rocky rose to his feet, maybe a walk would be nice, he could maybe find some breakfast if he was lucky. With that the bulky male padded softly towards the den entrance his long fur flowing, to and fro as he walked. As he stepped into the fresh air he gave a sigh of relief, wind lapping at his face. He listened to all the sounds of the wild as he did, and heard the distant yowls of some early bird wolf, a male he knew, maybe Ache? Birds chirped overhead, seemingly not caring that the were in the midst of a wolf territory.
...
Another sound caught his attention at once, a wolf talking nearby, but no-one seemed to be replying, a female, one of the ones who heard voices? His eyes snapped open and he casually glanced around for the speaker and saw her not to far away, not one of the 'voice hearers' -as he called them in his head- They were talking to a mute. It was Fluer and she was speaking to Clovis who was gesturing answers to the best of her ability.
...
On seeing them Rocky walked calmly their way, trying to pretend the he was heading to a point behind them and that the happened to be in that direction. He held his head high and looked around, pretending to be lost in thought. At regular intervals he would glance in their direction to see what they were doing.
...
Rocky watched Clovis, she was so pretty, he thought, he loved how her fur was so diverse, with so many different colours, just like her personality. He loved how she always managed to find a way to communicate without speaking, he wondered again if he would be able to manage it? Probaly not he decided. He found himself begining to stare at the she-wolf and quickly looked away, hoping she hadn't noticed,
