Faleen | 5 | Herd Mare | Twilight Falls | M: Buckeye, Astraea, Apollo, Alsie ~ The first rays of sunlight shone through the grass, the frost sparkling from the light of the pale morning. It illuminated the sleeping stature of a pinto mare, making the white of her coat shine like snow. The mare's ears flicked as the lieutenant's call resounded, and her eyes opened as she awakened from her slumber. Is it time to get up already? She thought as she glanced over to the familiar stallion. ~ A young foal's voice caused her to raise her head, and she looked towards the source of the noise. With amusement, she watched as Apollo, Astraea's colt, ran towards multiple mares, telling them to get up. I see he's on another assignment. It's nice to see a foal who actually listens to their mother. She almost chuckled at his eagerness to set an example; his joy increasing her own. ~ After watching Apollo for a bit, she decided to get up. With a huff, she stumbled to her feet, her stiff limbs aching in protest. Despite this, she stretched her legs, moving towards the middle of the meadow at a brisk trot. She took in all the surrounding trees, and the sound of the waterfall in the distance. It's such a lovely day today. It always reminds me of the new little ones that join the herd this time of year. ~ Slowing down to a walk, Faleen nodded to Astraea and Buckeye as she passed by, and as she drew closer to the forest, she suddenly caught sight of movement in the corner of her eye. Faleen whirled around, afraid that it was a predator. To her surprise, she saw Alsie step out from the shadow of the trees, blood streaking down her coat. "Alsie! What happened?!" Faleen yelled, breaking into a gallop. Her eyes were wide with fear, and a sense of dismay washed over her as she ran to meet the injured mare. Alsie // Heard Mare // Twilight Falls // Mentions: Faleen // Open Alsies Chocolate Roan coat was chilled from the sweat of the birth. Her head low from exhaustion and grief, with each step her shoulders trembled with pain. Blood trailing down her neck from a rather nasty bite. Her ears flicked at the sound kf a mare worried winny. "Ah.. Faleen.. The dangers been dealt with. Two cougars an adult and a Juvenile. My Foal... was to weak." Alsie managed her voice soft, broken even as she snorted softly and raised her head pinning her ears slightly. Her gaze hardening as she looked at the stallions. It wasnt there fault but, she had undergone quite termendous stress before being taken in. It was no wonder that the foal hadnt developed properly. It had also been early. Though it hadnt stopped her from defending it, hell she would have fought to the death if it meant giving her foal some comfort in its final moments. Lashing her tail she stood silently, having nothing more to say... other then after the death of her foal she would be ready to bare another in a few days... her body was already preparing its self. Orion Twilight Falls Herd | Lead Stallion | Mentions: Alsie
A gold coat gleamed in the pale, waining light of the moon, it's figure fading into the sky as morning crept closer. It wasn't quite day, the sun not having peaked itself over the horizon yet, but the promise of it lingered on the air like a faint kiss. The pale colored stallion shifted his weight, the thin layer of frost dusting from his figure as he moved.
Ears swiveling, he directed his attention to the mares surrounding him. He was familiar with most of them, as they were from his original herd, however, the few he had taken he did not know well. Ever since his endeavor to combine the herds the mares hadn't been terribly pleased with him. Of course, that wasn't something Orion typically minded. Sure, he would prefer to be liked by the mares he protected, but as long as they were safe and otherwise healthy, he didn't mind if they despised him.
Shaking out his coat, the palomino began to circle his herd, taking in and studying each and every individual, making sure they were up to travel. He often based his herd's pace off the slowest individual, not wanting anyone to be left behind if it could be avoided.
His attention was on one of the foals, Apollo, when a shrill commotion brought his attention to a mare with fresh wounds upon her figure. Judging by the bit he caught, and the way her sides no longer buldged as much, he could guess what had happened. Her foal had been born, and for one reason or another, had fallen victim to the jaws of a carnivore, likely a mountain lion based on the marks upon her frame.
Concern etched into his features, and he stepped forward calmly. He knew it was likely he would face backlash for what had happened, and part of him cursed himself inwardly for not being there to protect her. However, he had always functioned under the assumption that mares preferred to brith alone, without the company of a stallion to further stress them in process.
Sighing, and swallowing his pride a bit, he walked over, eyes roaming the chocolate roan's coat. "I know it's a foolish question, but will you be alright?" He asked, baritone vocals low, trying to show his concern and empathy. He wouldn't wish the loss of a foal on any of the mares.

Alaska ll Lone Mare ll 4 ll In foal to unknown herd stallion The trees seemed to whisper around the mare, sending speckles of light sparkling onto her almost black dappled coat. Her colouring was often named silver dapple, and was very recognisable. Her soft flaxen mane hung, swaying gently in the light breeze that had inched its way into the edge of the forest. She spotted a small field mouse nearby and nickered quietly, marvelling in the forest's abundance of wildlife and nature. Her gaze then fell back to the path ahead that she had taken. It seemed to be well worn, maybe Jade and the other lone horses had used it many a time before? She walked on, not really a care in the world, until she gazed behind her and gave a worrying glance at her swollen belly. She was not due yet, herd would come at the end of the foaling season, but she still stressed about the birth every night when the moon arose. She then broke into a trot, trying to clear her mind and sought to find her friend Jade. A fellow lone mare. She heard multiple voices however and swivelled her ears in front so she could hear them clearly. Then with slight crash she came through the bushes and upon the Twilight Falls herd. ‘Oh god’ she thought to herself. ‘You’ve blown it now Alaska.’ Edited at January 2, 2022 03:32 PM by Night Shade Pack

Buckeye - Lt. - 10 - M: Alaska, Alsie, Orion
Buckeye loped lightly towards the clump at the edge of the woods. He had caught a hint of blood on the wind and only grew more concerned as he approached. Alsie appeared injured, and he couldn't see a foal with her. The lieutenant cursed himself internally for not noticing her leave earlier. The mares didn't like company, but he could have at least patrolled the area for predators.
The stallion let out a startled snort and half-reared, ready to fight, when a horse he didn't recognize nearly crashed into him. He quickly retreated and dipped his head when he realized the stranger was a pregnant mare. Buckeye loved a fight, but would never attack a mare just trying to protect herself and her foal. Astraea || 12 Years & 3 Months || Mare || M: Buckeye, Faleen, Noche, Apollo (ref.), Alsie, Orion, A deep breath leaves her lungs, one she did not notice to be holding in. “That’s good to hear,” she replies to the stallion before he stalks off and nodding her head to Fallen as she walks by. Before turning, she noticed him nod his head to someone behind her. This causes the mare to turn as well, spotting Noche picking at the grass behind her. Astraea snorts a gentle greeting before turning her gaze to her wandering son. He was still doing as instructed, now trotting over to yet another mother-foal pair. A cool breeze whips by as the female begins to join the black-coated female’s activity, though in her own area. However, a shout from Faleen catches her attention. The bay mare lifts her head quickly, spying Faleen galloping over to a now skinny, bloodied, and… foalless Alsie. Dread fills her heart as she herself begins to make her way over to the mares. Yet, it seemed that the pale coated lead stallion had beaten her to it. From what she could tell, he seems to be asking her a question. Finally, she had arrived. Concern laced her features as she asked the other two horses to move. She presses her snout to the wounded mare's forehead gently - taking a breath. The scent of birth and cougars filled her nostrils, but she heed it little mind. Her eyes, milky or otherwise, swirl with concern, grief, and guilt - like water mixing with another liquid. From the smell, she could assume what had happened, but she was now worried of what would happen to the rest of the mares who were due to give birth. If one predator was around… “I’m sorry… that I didn’t do anything to help you. I should have foreseen this,” she mumbles into her forehead before backing off a bit. She turns to the rest of the herd, her muzzle held high - determination sparking in her eyes. “Let all horses of the herd arise to heed my words!”

Alsie // Heard Mare // Twilight Falls // Mentions: Faleen // Orion // Astraea Breathing steadily she pawed the ground some her leg not fully extending due too the pain flaring through her shoulders. She was exhuasted having not enough time to rest and recover from the birth itsself. Twas a wonder that she was still standing, as yes mares rise to feed their young but, they often take time after to rest their bodys. Not waste remaining energy fighting off predators. Alsie shook her head some allowing the mane that was stuck to the blood to seperate from her coat. Her pale eyes watching the stallion approach. She had had many a bad experience with stallions and trusted them very little. But, Orion had taken her in any ways giving her a Place in his herd... despite her distrust of him. Perhaps he thought that maybe one day he'd gain her trust? She wasnt sure what went on in a stallions mind as to her it was simply.. breed.. protect.. and breed. "Thank you for your concern Orion, I should be alright so long as I can clean them properly.." Alsie replied to his concern. Perhaps he meant emotionally? Even she wasnt sure about her emotional state. She felt numb.. with guilt and pain. The bite on her neck had it been a full grown adult would have been much deadlier. Its placement a difficult place for her to reach as her withers twitched slightly. Watching the lead mare approach Alsie pinned her ears and dropped her head in respect, taking a step back to allow the mare space. The step backwards caused a low groan to leave her lips as her shoulders rippled with such movements. Even with the blood and sweat it was clear she was a powerful mare. As her lead pressed her muzzle to Alsies forehead she blew gently into Astraeas nostrils. A sign of forgiveness and respect. "Its ok Astraea you cant forsee what lurks within the shadows. Though you should know its a juvenile and an adult." She informed her lead, her ears perking to hear the mares words. Alsies body though stumbled to the side as her front legs tried to buckle on her. Such a movement sending her build against Orions, a light and barely audible sound leaving her lips as she barely had the energy to recover from such a stumble. Orion Twilight Falls | Lead Stallion | Mentions: Alsie, Astraea, Alaska, Buckeye
Orion studied the darker mare quietly, the wounds glaring back at him as an angry reminder at his failure to protect one of his own. He was glad to know that physically, she would be alright. So long as they could keep her wounds clean, which was something he'd make sure happened.
"We can help you clean them," he offered, but flicked his ears, adding on afterwards, "or if you'd prefer, once you've rested, we can take a trip to the water to rinse them?" The stallion wasn't a fool, with their location, she could clean some of them herself, but not them all. She would need assistance, but he didn't want to force interaction with others on her if she didn't want it. Part of him didn't think she would want too much physical contact after the ordeal with her foal. From his experience, though he did not claim to understand mares, some went either way. Some wanted the comfort of the herd and others, and, for some, it was the last thing they wanted.
When Astraea stepped forth, he took a step back, allowing her to approach the mare without his interferance. His ears flicked gently at her words, but he did not speak for the moment, his eyes drawn else where.
There had been a noise, a commotion of someone coming from the trees, and he immediately tensed. Normally he would have been right there for a confrontation, however, the bulge of the horse's side immediately gave away that it was a mare. He was still on guard that there could be a stallion coming behind her, but for now, he decided, he would let Buckeye handle the situation. For now, Orion's focus remained on one of his.
A sudden weight against his side caused him to instinctively brace himself, drawing his attention to the roan mare that had staggered into him. Concern etched into his features once more, and he gently, not wanting to aggravated the mare, blew gently against her neck with his nose before nudging her gently, careful to avoid any wounds.
"Why don't you lay down and rest? I'll stay here and keep watch so you don't have to worry about anything," he offered, not wanting her to strain and exhaust herself further.

Whiskey || Twilight falls mare || Mentions: herd [indirectly] At last morning once again, the mare was awake earlier than most, as per usual. Her gaze shifted between the new members and the old, not being properly introduced yet to the most. The sleek black mare displayed a calm demeanor at this current moment, being this early in the morning nothing had been given the chance to get on our nerves, yet that is. Her eyes shifted across their now large herd, at least back on to their original territory she finally felt as tho she was home again. Despite the not-so-nice way of getting their new herd members it was crucial to gaining power as a group. Their leaders new what they were doing and chose to follow in that and accept their orders. Eventually she noticed most individuals were waking up, groups had gathered and were chatting amongst her self and an incident had occured but she wasnt close enough to the group to see, and she was blocked by the horses surrounding, usually curiousity would be getting the best of her but to be frank it was to early in the morning to involve herself with any drama. Blake | Colt | Twilight Falls foal | 10 months | Mentions: Apollo, Adira (ind), Open <><><><><><><><><><> The older foal had just begun to stir when his ears picked up the soft stamp of hoof steps on the somewhat chilly ground. With a sleepy grunt, he opened his dull blue-brown eyes to see another foal - a fellow colt who appeared a few months younger then himself - trotting towards him and his mother, who had yet to wake. Blake slowly lifted his head, letting out the softest of yawns as he shook out his head before focusing on the other foal; he distantly remembered his mother speaking with this foal's mother and heard his name mentioned, Apollo he remembered. This colt seemed friendly enough, if not a little eager and full of energy for Blake's taste, but he allowed himself to dip his head slightly when he saw Apollo checking if the pair was awake. "Um.. hello. You're Apollo, right?" He murmured questioningly, his voice kept quiet as to not wake his mother; she'd had a rough night, and hadn't been asleep for very long, so he wanted her to rest. - Carefully bring himself to his feet, he stamps the ground for a moment to get the stiffness out of his legs, giving himself a shake to wake up the rest of himself before his tail gives a curious flick. He silently steps away from his mother to approach Apollo, his eyes carefully studying the slightly smaller colt with a tilt of his head. "Did your mom send you to see who was awake?"
