Belvidere || Male || 71 || New Water Dragon || M: Kaisen

The coral dragon tilts his head to the side as his rider begins to spin his tale of woes. Honestly, he had not been expecting it to be much of anything. He believed that it would be as simple as his clothing – nothing but a modest life with the usual road bumps along the way. The life of a mere farmer. Well, what he got was certainly not what he anticipated.

It was heartbreaking, what the redhead had gone through. Absolutely sickening. Words couldn’t describe the amount of anguish this boy clearly endured. From his posture to his very eyes, it was painted clear as day to the watery being before him. Belv could feel his ears dropping the more his rider talked, flopping down to the point that they looked less like ears and more like earrings or similar accessories.

The flashy being could already feel a droplet of water running down his forehead like a drop of sweat in a contentious moment (as the young man brought this story to a close). Blue and yellow eyes glance to the side, unsure of what to make of the whole narration. Had… had Kaisen really been through that much? He had always heard that humans could be impeccably greedy and heartless, but this… this was much more despicable than he would have guessed. Such heinous crimes from such – likely – trusted people.

However, Belvidere was not known to be the most… sympathetic of dragons. At least, outwardly. Nor the most comforting. He had no semblance of an idea of how to handle tortured souls or consol the crying, even if he felt bad for them. Which he surely did at this moment! No clue how to respond to such a statement other than the usual “I’m so sorry” that most seemed to detest. Pity was not very palatable to most, after all. It was absolutely horrible what his rider had been put through. And, to an extent, he was grateful (as well as oddly confused) for him sharing it. He just had… no idea as to how he could express anything he felt.

“We-well, darling,” his voice cracks at the very first word, more water forming along his brow from the uncomfortable atmosphere, “That is… certainly quite the story you have there. Might make for a good play script,” his eyes glance to the side as his lips curl up to reveal harshly clenched teeth, “N-not that it should be! That would be aborhant of anyone to do! Disrespectful as well. And not that I don’t think you’re telling the truth by implying that it would make for a good drama! I just-”

He lets out a snarl at his flailing words, slapping a claws paw over his muzzle and eyes like one would with a face palm. He had to sound like an absolute asshole at this point. “Make for a good drama?” What was I thinking?!

Glancing back at the human before him, the dragon watches as he swipes at his face which had now turned away from him. Was… was he…? His expression drops at the realization of what was transpiring before him – a pang of guilt striking his heart like an iron knife to his hide. Way to screw things up, idiot.

With a sigh, Belv brings his tail fin up to Kai’s face to wipe it free of any residual tears. His eyes shed their curtains momentarily as he does so, showing sympathy he could never dream of presenting himself (outside of an act). He exchanges no words in the moment either, hoping that his actions and eyes would be enough to signify his true emotions.

Kuwaka

Female Fire Dragon || Rider: Ixora || M: (Dir) Ixora. (Ind) Veetabhi. Kaia.

~

Kuwaka leaned down to tear another chunk off, tasting a slight bit of the blood that still managed to remain in the buffalo, even after that long roasting she did. The blood never tasted good with cooked meat, but it was essential in raw meat. Raw meat was just always so squishy, and slimey, and tasteless without the blood, at least she thinks it's now tasteless because of how much cooked meat she's eaten now. Kuwaka could feel the cord between her and Ixora slowly moving as her rider made her way through the crowd of people to get to her. A burst of excitement came to her as she couldn't wait to see how happy her rider will be to see she finally cooked her food instead of leaving it raw. Though she was excited, she tried to hide it as she casually continued eating her food, not particularly wanting to get stared at like she's insane right now.

Kuwaka could feel that Ixora was right behind her now by the way the cord between the two felt as it was no longer tugging them together. The cord always relaxed when her rider was nearby, so she figured out how to use that to predict where her rider is. She spun her head to look at Ixora, a smile on her face. She tried to hide her excitement, and just keep it a big warm smile, but it turned into a more toothy grin. The flames on her neck and spine began to flicker as she began to turn them off, her tail tip flame almost instantly turned off. Then, Ixora spoke to her, and she sat down in front of her rider with a smirk. "Aw, come on! You know you want it." She gently picked up the chunk of meat with her paws and she thrusted it in front of Ixora, a smile on her face. She stared at the piece of meat that layed on the floor in front of her rider, a smile on her face as her gaze darted from Ixora to the meat. The chunk was almost just as big as her paws; definitely not a human sized serving.

Kuwaka's gaze finally stopped on Ixora when she began to speak again, and she immediately lept up to her feet. It sounded like a rather loud stomp instead of someone sitting up, but that was just her unleashing her excitement upon the ground. She always loved hide and seek, plus watching Ixora, and Veetabhi, and Kaia argue over who they think will qualify? Today couldn't get any better! "Let's go right away!" She leaned forward to pick Ixora up before pausing and leaning back, remembering to not do that.

Kuwaka heard Ixora bring up the whole hunting incident from a couple years ago. It was unforgettable, but so hysterical; poor Ixora looked disgusted. Although she couldn't help but almost laugh at the facial expressions her rider made that day, and she would never forget them. She gave her another big, toothy grin before saying, "You're welcome. But I hope you know that I will never allow you to forget that. My goodness your face when you saw it! I'm surprised I didn't die of laughter that day." She gave her a smirk, noticing her shiver. Probably picturing the scene in her head again. Poor Ixora. Kuwaka decided that it was best for her to change the subject, and perhaps to a subject they both will like. There was one subject she had in mind from before that would be just fine for that. "Ready to go debate with Veetabhi and Kaia?" She began to trot in a circle around Ixora, giving her a hopeful grin and her eyebrows raised as she made several tiny circles around her.

Desmodus Draculae

Male Dark Dragon || Rider: Arya || M: (Dir) Arya. (Ind) None.

~

Desmodus could see in the corner of his eye, another look of amazement on his human's face. She always seemed to have that whenever he did as much as look in her direction. A growl of annoyance came from him as he forced himself to pretend like he didn't notice. He didn't want her to know that he was annoyed with her. It was kind of a silly thing to get annoyed about, but he was exhausted, and in a bad mood today. His crimson gaze swiveled towards the rising sun that continued making it's way up the blue sky. It was about an hour ago that he should've gone to bed.

Desmodus' gaze turned to Arya when he heard her begin to speak again. He was actually quite grateful to know that information, but he'd never tell anyone that. No one can know that he got information from a human that he actually wanted to know. "Alright. I will remember that." He looked back towards the piece of meat that was on the fire. It was looking a light brownish color now, with only a few dots of the red still left here and there. It looked strangely delicious; he'd have to try it sometime. In fact, he could try it now. "I will be right back." Then, he spun around and extended his aching wings out to stretch them. When he finished, he lept into the air and began to fly in search of a small snack that he could cook.

As Desmodus ascended into the sky, he also sniffed the air in hopes of tracking a small rabbit or something. His wings intensely flapped to propell himself up into the air and his wings beat loudly. He could feel the wind blowing through his dark fur as he slowly gained speed. A few strands of fur would often fall in his face and make him have to blow them away, but they were doing nothing but being a nuisance. They didn't entirely block his vision, they would just be annoying and tickle his snout. After taking another big inhale of air, he caught the faint scent of rabbit. It definitely smelled like it was currently in heat, possibly outside in search of a mate. He began to follow the scent, which lead to the nearby forest. Good. He made an abrupt turn to start heading straight in the direction of the rabbit, who would be his next nutriment today.

Desmodus traveled towards the rabbit, faintly seeing it's brown and tan coat in the distance. It sat next to the treeline, poking it's head in it's den. It seemed to be looking at something, but he couldn't see inside it's den. But what was good is that it was distracted by whatever it was looking at, which gave him a chance to swiftly make the kill without risking being spotted. He flew right above the rabbit, heading towards the trees for cover. When he was over the trees, he dove down into the cover of the verdant trees. Branches scraped up his face and chest as he dove down, and one even caused a bleeding cut on his face, but he didn't care. Landing on the ground, leaves smashed beneath his paws, their cruching muffling the loud thump his paws usually made when he landed. He landed behind a large bush that helped cover him from the rabbit, who was now looking in his direction with it's ears perked up. It heard me. He dropped down low and began to slowly crouch towards it, but he was far too big to hide.

The moment Desmodus took a step, the rabbit lept into it's burrow, causing him to immediately react and leap out of the forest and at the burrow. He snarled before beginning to ferociously dig at the burrow, attempting to force the rabbit outside. In a matter of seconds, the roof of the burrow was already busted open, and he could hear the rabbit squealing in fear. But he did not feel bad for it. It's squeals of fear gave him immense feelings of power, now if only humans were afraid of him as this rabbit was, not including Arya, of course. He'd never want her to fear him. He felt his claws lightly tap the rabbit's coat, so he froze, and began to inch his claws closer and closer to it. He heard it scampered around in the den, trying to avoid his claws, and he could hear it's heavy breathing in fear. Then, he grabbed the creature with his claws and began dragging the poor thing out, hearing it's kicking and flailing as it tried to get out of his grasp. His claws were firmly gripping it's scruff to ensure it couldn't get out, not that it would do anything if it got out of his grasp. It would only delay it's death. Then, he carefully dragged the rabbit out of the exit, noticing how it was just laying there, allowing him to drag it. He lifted it up in the air, right up to his face so he could see it. It's tiny black eyes were filled with fear and it's was breathing heavily in fear. I've heard humans keep these things as pets... Would Arya really want me to do this..? A wave of pity for the creature washed over him as he stared at it, but only because he thought of Arya. I don't want Arya to think I'm a monster. He let out a sigh before gently putting it down on the floor, leaving it with a shocked expression. It was frozen in shock, almost looking like a statue by how still it stood. A gentle nudge from his claws was enough to send it scampering away into the forest, and he watched it as it disappear into the cover of the forest.

Desmodus turned around and looked in the direction Arya was. He extended his wings out before taking off, heading back to his human. He flew very low to the ground, too exhausted to take the effort to fly higher. He was staying up way too much; he needed sleep soon. A yawn escaped his jaws as he flew towards Arya, his wings flapping slow, and his exhaustion was quite obvious. He couldn't see her yet, but he could see the pile of sticks he made, so he continued to fly towards it. It was very hard to see, but the closer he got, the more he could see it. Then, he finally spotted Arya in the distance. He started to speed up, propelling himself forward as fast as he could towards her, brainstorming a lie about why he flew off last second. I could just tell her that I needed to stretch my wings? No. How about I just say that I thought I saw something? No, not that... I could tell her partially the truth? Yes! I can just say that I went to hunt some more food, but it got away, so I just decided to come back.

Desmodus landed right next to Arya, his paws doing the same loud thumping sound. In the next few days, he wouldn't be surprised if the sound played in her head before he even landed. "I wanted to get some more food, but it got away, so I just came back." He began to settle down on the ground, beginning to get comfortable. He pulled his wings against his sides and curled his tail around himself as he yawned. "It's so late. I stayed up far too much." He rested his head down on the ground, feeling the grass poke at him. He hated sleeping on grass, but he'll just have to deal with it for now. He couldn't fly off to a cave to go sleep and leave Arya all by herself over here, and he was definitely not going to carry her around. "I really want to sleep now. So please, do not wake me unless you need to." Then, he immediately tightened up into a ball, putting one off his wings over his face again to block out the sunlight. He made a delighted purring sound as he got comfortable, or at least, as comfortable as he could be on this stupid, annoying grass. He made another content purr when he was comfortable, and then closed his crimson eyes.

Serikornis Ventus

New Dragon - Air Class | Male | 220 | Mentions: Noelle, Aziza, Ryker, Nava (all dir) Ra'd (ind)

This is me, your dragon, yes. I can hear everything you say through this mental connection.

Serikornis raised his head, shaking out his greyish head feathering to hide his grin of amusement as his young rider began to excitedly ramble in their shared mind-space. The curious feeling of another’s thoughts bouncing around his own mind wasn’t as bad, nor loud or irritating, as he had anticipated – in fact he rather enjoyed it. That solidarity of his former time - that had not long ago clouded his physical body, and had forever before clouded his lonely mind - felt near gone; his young rider’s flurry of thoughts filled Seriko’s own mind with a rush of adrenaline that he had not felt in a good while. It felt good to share in another’s feelings – no matter how fast or fleeting.

You need not worry about the tears. Here the air dragon released another soft puff off air out of his maw, drying the remainder of the salty liquid and leaving only the slight staining behind. Although, I hope your garment was not one of importance to you. I am not good at removing staining. He huffed at it softly with his snout in annoyance, then raised his head again as the boy continued to speak. Quickly he learned the name of his rider, Noelle Morganstern, and muffled an amused rumble as the boy politely bowed. He appreciated the sentiment, as human of a gesture it were. It meant respect, as far as he could tell, and Seriko beamed at that – albeit discreet.

Before he had taken the chance to introduce himself - or climb down the tree to greet the young rider from a less intimidating position – a small brown-haired figure approached with a courageous look in her bright eyes. She joined Noelle’s side, laying a hand softly on his shoulder and glaring up into Serikornis’ tree.

“Mind telling me why, exactly, my friend is currently crying,” she said in a hard tone, before his own rider quickly acted to defuse the situation with some affectionate gestures.

The air dragon emitted a softened rumble, saying nothing and letting Noelle explain the young woman’s protective nature in his mind. That was one of the positives at least – he was glad his young rider had already found another willing to put themselves in harm’s way for him. It meant that, in a highly unlikely and unfortunate situation, someone else would act to defend his precious rider. That had been a concern - finding another who, with no reason to other than genuine compassion, would care and protect his rider if Seriko could not. The thought of this young rider, isolated somewhere with no one coming to help, made his stomach jolt painfully.

Still Seriko wasn't sure how much he liked the interruption on his conversation with his brand new rider - no matter how much he admired the perpetrator's bravery and her concern for Noelle. He lowered his face to send another puff of air, this time towards the young lady. This one was simultaneously a warning - a gentle one, but a warning nevertheless - and a greeting. Seriko often did that; mixing polite gestures with hidden meanings of a warning or a threat. Though, he certainly wouldn’t dream of threatening another dragon’s rider. Glancing behind the young woman, he could make out a large handsome storm dragon, of whom he would rather not cross.

Serikornis' issue with dragons wasn't one he was quite ready to face.

Seriko turned his head to watch another young human wander his way across the grass. He felt his rider’s concentration entirely switch, his freshly connected end of the telepathy reeling from the whiplash.

Ryker?

A friend, Noelle? He asked, tail twitching.

"How goes your day, my love?"

More than a friend? He added in the privacy of his own mind, his nose flaring slightly as he looked towords his rider.

"...It's crazy we all got bonded the same year!" Serikornis could smell the excitement of his new boy, Ryker, reeling off him in waves, and he lifted his own head up out of the way to rest it on a tree branch. His wings were beginning to tire from the soft flapping, but he didn’t wish to lower himself to the ground just now. Not with this little crowd forming, lest he embarrass himself by landing. Returning to earth after being in flight for so long would certainly made him feel queesy.

Seriko followed the direction of Ryker’s indication, pointing across to a shimmering crystal dragoness. He blinked politely towords her, curling his tail up and letting it fall again to indicate she was well welcome to join this little group if she wished. The presence of three young people below him was starting to make his scales itch uncomfortably, so he might as well add another dragon to the mix before he’d reach his limit and fly rapidly off for a moment of peace. But for now, letting his form drape lazily across the tree, he turned back and perked his ear feathers up to listen to Noelle and his friends’ conversation.

Oh little human, your kind amuses me so.

Kai shrugged, forcing out a bark of laughter, a laugh that was half laugh half sob (that was a lot of laughs whoops). "I haven't seen my brothers since." Kai shrugged, trying to brush it off. Meeting the dragon's eyes, a pained smile touched his lips. "I know you don't know how to respond to all of that. Nobody ever does. And I'm sorry I sprung that on you. But I kinda figure... since we're to be paired for life, you should know what happened." He coughed, clearing his throat a little awkwardly. "This is how I've spent the past few years. As if it wasn't difficult enough, having to fight for everything to begin with." He looked away, taking a deep breath before letting it out slowly. "Do me a favor... don't tell Arya that I told you about this. She hates pity. And she won't be thrilled that you know about it."

Arya blinked, startled by the sudden departure. She squinted, shielding her eyes as she attempted to track the dragon's movements into the forest, though she soon lost sight of him as the lush greenery swallowed him up. Turning her attention back to the meat, she took a pair of sticks and lightly poked at the meat. It looked ready. Carefully removing it, she placed the meat on a large flat rock nearby. She didn't exactly want to eat with her hands, but she didn't mind it too much. Carefully ripping off bite sized pieces, she began to tuck into the food. It was quite delicious, cooked perfectly. Seeing and hearing Desmodus's return, she looked up. Hearing him say he needed a rest, she nodded, chewing quickly before swallowing. "Rest well. I'll wake you when the next part of the ceremony starts." She flashed a small smile, though she was unsure how the dragon would take the gesture. She just couldn't help it. He had such a gruff personality, but she kind of liked that about him. She knew there was a kinder being beneath those layers. She just needed to gain his trust.

Nava
Crystal Dragon | Female | New Dragon | Mentions: Cryosphere, Ryker, Isobel

To say Nava hadn't been expecting the sudden movement as a reaction to her touch was an understatement, though she wasn't offended or worried in the slightest. Soft, musical chuckles left her lips at his reaction, as he studied her, seemingly looking for any sort of damage doen to her by his cold touch. She waited patiently for him to realize she was fine, a soft smile tugging at her lips as he did.

She watched quietly when he lifted and extended a paw out to her, no doubt wanting to test the waters to see with his own eyes if they could touch without him doing damage to her. Shifting back onto her hind legs so all her weight was balanced on them, her eyes began to glow as she concentrated a crystalized growth over the claw and scales of her wing. She gently, albeit a little awkwardly, reached out and gribbed his paw with her wing talon, which was the equivalent of a front paw. The crystal created a protective layer over her own body, allowing her to be unharmed by the coldness of the male's physical touch.

As time passed and he seemed to consider his options for the girl, he eventually pulled away from her, and she allowed herself to come down onto her front claws gently. She watched as he made his way towards his human, and was about to make herself comfortable there with her own when he turned and nodded at them. It seemed he wanted them to follow.

She was about to start moving when her rider caught her attention when he moved out of the shelter of her wing. She snorted softly as he claimed her was going to go see his friends, and she nodded gently. "Very well, don't stray for too long though. Dragon's generally don't seem to like to share their Riders at first bond," she commented, a fair warning with how tempermental some of the dragons seemed to be.

She watched him go before trailing slowly after Cryosphere, her thagomizer tail dragging on the ground, creating deep grooves in the earth as she went. She grunted, flicking it gently so it was sitting right, no longer creating drag as she moved. Annoying thing.

Once she reached Cryosphere and his rider, she let herself relax onto the ground once more, keeping a respectful distance from the two, while being close enough to let the male know she was there. Meanwhile, though, her eyes remained on her rider, instinctively a bit uncomfortable with him being in the presence of not one, but two dragons, even if one seemed to be a bit of a distance away. Though there was no doubt in her mind that his rider was amongst the group with how his eyes were locked on them.

Ra'd
Storm Dragon | Male | New Rider | Mentions: Aziza, Serikornis, Noelle, Ryker

Bright cyan eyes blinked as he quietly watched the rider, who had landed on her back after their weird hand thing, as her eyes opened to look at him. They stayed like the for a minute, her looking at him, and he at her, when all of a sudden she broke out into a fit of laughter. His head tilted to the side as her fit of giggles continued, her hand coming up over her mouth as her eyes closed again. Oh boy, he'd knocked a screw loose hadn't he?

He leaned his head over to her, and when her eyes opened again and she commented on his might and his appeal to the females, he lifted his head and puffed his chest in bright. He chuckled softly at her and watched as she moved back to stand on her feet, brushing hersel free of any clinging dirt in the process.

He listened as she commented about the book, claiming it was no big deal and he nodded in return. Good, he would hate to have damaged or ruined something of value to her completely. When she inspected the book further to be sure and even offered it out for him to see, he examined it himself and nodded to confirm her words. It didn't look too bad, and it would indeed fade with time, though obviously it would never be to the same condition it was.

Ra'd's eyes fixed on her again as she spoke of her "troubles", and of her family's expectations. Were they hard on her? Did they expect her to somehow control something that ultimately she had no control over? Humans had no choice in whether a dragon chose them or not, it seemed unfair to expect her to have to be chosen if that was what they thought.

He was about to ask something about the same time her own mouth parted to say something else, when her attention was brought somewhere else. He followed her gaze while she spoke of rescuing her friend to an emotional looking boy and an air dragon. He tensed visibly, and he rumbled out his disapproval, knowing dragons sometimes didn't like their bonding to be interrupted.

He rose slightly, though only to turn so his figure was facing the group, his eyes locked on the girl, though he glanced warily at the air dragon. His features were impassive, giving away nothing, but he was prepared to jump in if needed.

Ra'd watched as the air dragon lowered his head towards Aziza, and Ra'd stiffened again, a deep rumbling created in his chest as the other blew a breath over her. When the other dragon looked over at him he allowed himself to rumble louder, his own gently warning coming out. He would not outrightly just attack the other male, but if he was of any threat to his rider, Ra'd would have no qualms with meeting him with violence.

His attention flicked briefly as yet another human joined the group, and he flexed his claws into the ground gently, before pushing up onto his paws, slowly strolling forward. Once he reached the group he glanced up at the air dragon and nodded a gentle greeting to him, but spoke no words. Instead his attention shifted to Aziza and he extended his head to her, jaws gently gripping the neck of her shirt, and beginning to slowly pull her backwards, walking slowly until he was a respectful distance from the air dragon.

He didn't remove her from the group entirely, she could still converse with her friends, but it was a safe and comortable distance for him from the other dragon. He lowered himself to the ground and let go of her shirt.

"Distance from the other dragons right now would be preferred," he cautioned gently, trying not to come off as overbaring, "we're not used to being around this many of our own kind and humans on top of it. So it's better to keep a safe distance, but you can still talk to your friends from here." He explained calmly through their new bond. "Plus I couldn't easily protect you in this forest without potentially hurt you or your friends, so I would prefer not to be put in that position," he added on, knowing his powers didn't really do well in forests.

Borealis Alarie

Female Rider || Dragon: Xyron || M: (Dir) Xyron. (Ind) None.

~

The moment Borealis looked away, Xyron's deep voice rang in her head again. For some reason, it seemed to her like he had much softer, and calmer tone this time, maybe because he noticed her uncertainty? She looked back at gold dragon, seeing that he was still laying in the shade. A few spots of his scales glowed when the sun made it's way through the leaves, but the shade kept most of his scales darkened. "What do we need to do next?" She asked in reply to his sentence. She was honestly so confused about everything right now. She had so many questions about this, like why she's hearing this dragon's voice in her head, and why the heck does it feel like there's an invisible chain between them. She hoped that someone could answer her many questions sometime later, and hopefully then, she'd finally know what to do.

Then, she heard the dragon speak to her again, a hint of fragility in his voice. She didn't understand why; but she just kinda guessed he was remembering something. Maybe something traumatic? He doesn't look very traumatized though... She watched the dragon as he stared at the crowd, his crimson gaze fixated on it. Crowds also made her nervous, but she almost forgot that she was in a crowd until he mentioned it. She always loved to roam around in a forest, where there was no one to stop her from doing what she wanted to, and no one there to always correct her on everything she does, maybe Xyron felt the same way? She would ask him if she knew him a bit better, since it might seem strange to him if she asked him that question. It might even seem very strange to him even if she knew him quite well, so maybe it's best she just doesn't ask it at all.

When Xyron spoke again, Borealis almost chuckled at it. She would've thought that was intended as a joke, but the small hint of seriousness in his tone announced that it wasn't. She held in the chuckles mainly so the dragon didn't think she was laughing at him, and also because she didn't want to start randomly laughing around everyone, because then they'd think she's insane, and that wouldn't be good.

A sudden tense look on the golden dragon's face was surprising, but she could tell that he was looking for someone. Maybe one of his friends? She noticed his head slowly swiveling around as his crimson gaze searched the crowd with a bewildered and wistful expression. It was obvious he was missing someone he was very close to. "Who are you looking for? Maybe I can help?" She tried to keep a kind tone in her voice, but she really wasn't sure free how he'd react to that. She didn't know anything about dragons, so she already assumed that they have different ways of communicating, but he was obviously aching to have this dragon by his side. It was clear in his tense and restless posture, and the rare jerking his wings would make as if they were trying to force him to go find whoever he was searching for.

Fire Dragon | Male | Returned Dragon | Mentions: K'issuk Ran, Genevieve

Truthfully, Beo didn't really mind the company of the she-dragon. It was weird, speaking to another in the casual way she managed, but it helped the male feel a little at ease. He was still a fire dragon though, so his ill temper showed at times, but he did his best to reign in the fiery aspects of his personality.

When she responded to his question of her origins, he nodded gently. "I've found that water dragons especially have specific characteristics that show depending on where they are from. For example," he paused to clear his throat, soothing the rasp that had begun again, "you're darker coloration, your structure in general, and your... uh... little light? if that's what that is." He commented motioning with a hand to his head as if he also had a little light thing on his face.

Exhaling, smoke pushed from the vents of his face, the poorly healed wound glowing brightly for a second as he did before dimming out again. "Though," he started, "I suppose I do in my own way," the puzzled look to his features showed he had just made that connection, it was a new realization for him.

Frowning at the persistent tug in his chest, he glanced at her sideways as she mentioned it and he briefly nodded in response. Physically he reached up and rubbed the center spot of his chest, knuckles digging into the hard bone of his sternum plate. "It's a persistent, almost painful feeling, as you know. The long I resist, the stronger and more painful it gets," he growled out, though it wasn't anger or anything, but discomfort. "I never desired to feel it again, and I'm still against it. Does my... new rider deserve my callousness? Probably not, but I never wanted to be ridden again. I still don't. I have no intention to. What cruel gods did they offend to be stuck with a dragon like me?" He asked, cocking his head to the side. Was this more of a punishment for the rider or for him?

His attention turned fully to the she-dragon as he listened to her speak, and he nodded gently. "When I was younger, probably younger than you," he began, pausing momentarily, "not saying you look old, but your rider looks older than these humans, but not by much, and your size-- well listen, I'm old, I pick up on things," he groaned and shook his head. "My social skills are lacking after centuries away from others, pardon me," he offered as a half assed, but true, apology. "But my first time I was here I was excited, I was one of the first to go and find my rider. I tested her, sure, but I knew on sight she was perfect for me as a rider. Two hearts that beat to the same rhythm of the same drum," there was a wistfulness to him, and his voice grew thick with emotions he hadn't bothered to feel for a long time. "We were a strong, formidable force throughout our years together. Revered among our peers, praised by those above us, and looked up to by those younger," he paused and crossed his forelegs in front of him as he slid down to his belly again and smoke billowed from him.

"That bond was sacred to me, and I have no desire to try and replicate it. Anything would dim in comparison to it, as I'm not the same dragon I was before," he ended, refusing to go into further detail of anything that happened with his rider. Those were memories too painful to comment on.

Frustrated boiled within him though when she spoke again and he hissed out aggressively, his tail thrashing beore slamming into the ground forcefully enough to leave a divot in the ground. Irritation caused his whole body to practically twitch, and he shifted his weight to the side before rising again. Truly he was a restless beast.

"If I go to her though," he started, his voice edged with irritation, "then the bond will snap into place, and the only way I'll be rid of her is to send her to an early grave. Which, while I'm not opposed to, it would make things tense between me and the Academy." His claws tapped before sinking into the ground, a habit he had whenever he was thinking or anxious. "I suppose if I did accept the bond, I could just... leave... once the bond was strong enough. She'd still have a place within the academy I imagine, or could live a life of normalcy away from the Academy," he grumbled out. When had he become such a wuss?

"Very well, we shall approach," he agreed, intent on keeping the she-dragon with him as a barrier. He paused to look over her and squinted, "you're the squad leader yes? I will then leave it to you to ensure any and all humans, rider or not, stay far away from me." They are not safe with me, was the unspoken thought added on to the end of that sentence.

Turning, he waved his tail, and turned walking towards the young woman who was destined to be his unfortunate rider.
