Asteria | Human | Warrior | Female Mentions: Navi
Asteria listened to the Queen's announcement and then watched Kiran carry multiple saddles over to the center and drop them in a pile. The saddles varied in size, and a few of them were big enough to fit even the largest dragons. Asteria's mind wandered again to whether she'd be able to carry all those saddles at once as well... her mind snapped back to attention to catch the end of the elven general's instructions. She scolded herself in her thoughts for getting distracted, and then went to get a saddle as she saw others do. She took the first one she saw that looked to be a good size for Navi(and sturdy enough that its straps wouldn't snap midflight), then brought it back to her new partner. {Since the owner of Raven, Shard's bonded rider, hasn't posted in a bit and I do not want to fall behind in the RP, I'll just continue with Shard, not really controlling Raven, but bringing her along. I won't make her say or do anything, but I do need her to put the saddle on Shard and go on the first flight with him :) Hope that's alright with y'all.} - Shard | Dragon | Hunter | Male | Rider - Raven M: Avika & Raven (dir) , Kiran (ind) - Shard listened closely to the Queen, his wings and tail twitching in excitement. He couldn't wait to be up in the air with his rider. He was one of the first dragons to step forward to examine the saddles. He prodded one with a talon. "Do I really have to wear this thing?" He drawled, not sounding opposed to it though.

Kaisen : Human : Warrior : Male M: Nyx (dir.)
Kaisen grimaced as he saw Nyx's thoughts across their shared link. She had been a pain when they first bonded. She still could be at times, but he was growing accustomed to it. And she typically no longer gave him a hard time about saddling her. Kai was still grateful to the head dragon for keeping Nyx in line that first time, for he very well knew she would've burnt him to crisp if she had things her way. Snapping back to the present when Nyx asked him a question, he nodded. "Ready as I can be," he said before hauling himself into the saddle. His armor clinked slightly as it bumped up against her scales during the movement. Settling himself into place, he leaned over to tighten the leg straps, making sure they were tight enough to hold him in place, but not so tight that they would cut off circulation.

Zynar | Dragon | Male | Trainee Mentions: Avika (dir.) Zynar bobbed his head in acknowledgement to the Queen as the saddle was strapped to his body. He fidgeted uncomfortably for a moment, the leather straps rubbing uncomfortably against his scales and he tried to readjust. He was thankful Avika would get him a new saddle; these sagging mounts were no good for either of them. As the last buckle was attached, he looked around, brows rising in amusement at the varying displays from dragons who preferred not to be saddled. With a rumbling laugh, he bowed low to the ground, dipping his shoulder for Avika. It would be a moment yet until the riders mounted the dragons, but he was silently greatful for the slight break; all the posturing had made his back rather sore. Blinking at Avika, he felt a pang of anxiety. "Neryth will lead us in flight, but we will be expected to stay close to her. I doubt that tempermental mother hen will let you and I out of her sight for the next few moons."

Navi : Dragon : Trainee : Female M: Asteria
Navi lowered her head to sniff at the saddle, wrinkling her nose in distaste at the worn straps. 'This may not hold out very long,' she commented, giving Asteria a look of mild concern. 'I won't let you fall though.' Navi lowered herself into a crouch, making it easier for the smaller human to place the saddle and strap it to her.

Kiran | Elf | General | Male Mentions: Neryth (dir.) all (ind.) After the riders had gathered their saddles and begun the hassle of convincing the dragons to allow such uncomfortable attire to be placed upon them, Kiran looked to his dragon as she loomed over the rest. In the waning sun, she was as beautiful as ever, scales glowing in the orange light as she watched the newly bonded. He chuckled slightly as he wondered whether she would allow him to saddle her this year; although he trusted she would not drop him, the lack of a sturdy seat always gave him an adrenaline rush for hours. With the Queen preparing to fly this Ceremony, he hoped she would allow him the small grace of security so he could monitor the Queen himself while they flew.

Avika : Female : Queen : Elf M: Zynar
Hearing the dragon's remark about Neryth, she burst out laughing. She laughed for almost a minute, before wiping her eyes and slowing to a chuckle. "You're quite right," she said, her shoulders still shaking with suppressed mirth. "But don't worry. I may not have bonded before, but I've ridden a dragon or two in my life time. I have some experience. Neryth will probably have a closer eye set on the younger dragons and riders." She bent to tighten the straps a little more, having noticed one was rather loose. She had made sure to tighten each one carefully, knowing that proper saddling was crucial for flight safety. Avi had made sure each strap was tight enough that it wouldn't let the saddle move too much, but loose enough so as to not hinder the dragon's movements, nor restrict his breathing. She remembered past riders who had accidentally tightened the straps so much they nearly choked their new dragon. She shook her head slightly, thinking, 'Such rookie mistakes. How idiotic of them.' She quickly snapped back, scolding herself for these thoughts. Avika always tried to suppress these kinds of thoughts, but the childish side of her couldn't help having them from time to time.

Neryth : Female : Head Dragon M: Kiran
The female snorted with slight amusement at Kiran's thoughts. She remembered their first flight so clearly, as if it had happened yesterday. She had been rather a pain in the butt about it, refusing to allow him to saddle her. The head dragon of the time had finally intervened, giving her a stern scolding. Even then, she had made the ride rather difficult for him, being sure to use some of her most complex aerial maneuvers, including some intense barrel rolls. But he had hung on tight. It had rather impressed her, if she was being honest. It had earned the elf her respect. Lightly flicking him with the tip of her tail, she gave him a toothy grin. 'Time to wrangle these newbies again, aye?'

Vervada : Dragon : Warrior : Female M: Arya (dir) Others (ind)
Vervada shifted uncomfortably as Arya turned her face up to her in a smile, and quickly looked away back at the looming pile of saddles. She shivered slightly as Arya walked off with the other riders. Brrr she had forgotten how horrible saddles felt, especially the old worn bonding saddles. The scratchy worn leather grating against her scales... she shivered convulsively again. Her eyes stuck with Arya as she watched her sift through the pile of saddles, emerging with one that seemed her size. Her lip curled in distaste as the saddle was plopped on the ground, and she reached her head down to examine it closely, frowning.
"Hmm, yes this one is definitely on the verge of falling apart" she growled, snorting forcefully. "It won't be my fault if you do end up falling off, that much i'll tell you" she said grumpily, tail thrashing slightly behind her and knocking over an elf behind her on accident.
Stilling herself she glared over at Neryth and Kiran. They really should get some better saddles for the bonding ceremony, it wasn't a very smart idea to give the worn falling apart ones to the new riders who were already more prone to falling off. With one last defiant glare in their direction she turned her attention back to Arya, and the dreaded saddle. Edited at September 19, 2023 08:03 PM by Luna Tenebris

Nyx | Dragon | Warrior | Female | Rider - Kaisen M: Kaisen, Neryth, Kiran (dir) - Once she felt Kaisen swing one leg over her and settle into the saddle, Nyx stood to her full height, her scales rippling as she shifted to get the saddle in a comfortable position on her back. She disliked the feeling of the leather rubbing against her scales, but it couldn't be helped, since it would be a much, much, much more painful flight for her rider if she was without a saddle, considering her spines and all. Padding softly up to where Neryth stood tall with the human general, Nyx dipped her head respectfully to the regal dragon. "Where would you like me to fly?" She asked, referring to who she should fly next to or with when the flight began. Edited at September 19, 2023 07:50 PM by Soulsilver
