Desmodus Draculae

Male Dark Dragon | | Rider: Arya || M: (Dir) Arya. (Ind) None.

~

Desmodus purred as he got comfortable, preparing to take a nice, long nap. He totally deserved it after all that suffering he went through to fly here. As the human spoke, he continued to scramble to get comfy. He was glad the human promised to not tell anyone, but he wasn't sure if he could believe her or not yet. Oh well, if she does, I can just rethink my kindness and maybe maim her to death. He winced at the thought, imagining the feelings of betrayal and terror the human would have if he did that to her. It made him feel sick to the stomach just simply thinking about doing that to her. That was when he decided that he would not hurt his human.

Then, Arya began to speak to Desmodus again. He quickly tightened himself up, not wanting to get up. He was far too comfortable for something as tiring as getting up. "I'm pretty sure what we're supposed to do is sleep." A hiss came from his jaws as he tightened up more, then a purring sound after when he was perfectly comfortable. Getting comfortable was the hard part, falling asleep is the best part. Then, he inhaled deeply before closing his eyes, happy to now be able to actually sleep now. That strange tugging feeling kept him up all day yesterday, and hopefully now that he solved it, it would let him sleep peacefully.

Right as Desmodus just fell asleep, Arya began speaking again, causing him to wake up, and he made a grumble of annoyance. But he didn't know really what to do next either, and he didn't even know what was going on. Why did he suddenly feel uncontrollably loyal to a human he just met? This was not like him. If anyone had woken him up, he would've either screamed in their face, or thrown them in a river, but for some reason, he didn't want to do that to the human. Questions flooded his head that he desired answers for, but he wouldn't ask them. He'd just have to figure it out himself.

Desmodus gently tucked his wings back against his sides, allowing the sunlight to burn his eyes. He squinted, trying to block out as much sun as possible as he slowly rose to his feet. "I honestly do not know what I'm even doing here, so I definitely do not know what is next to do." A hiss came from his throat when he was fully stood up. Then, his crimson gaze slowly turned towards Arya, his pupils striped from the sunlight landing on them. "But I'm sure we can figure it out."

Then, he inhaled the air in before exhaling in a sigh. But a familiar scent entered his nose. Cow. He gently ran his tongue over his fangs at the thought of food. "Although, I'm quite sure you are hungry, little human, since you had to walk here." Then without hesitation, he launched himself into the air, following the scent of the cow. He was so focused on food, he totally forgot to tell her where he was going. His wings beat loudly as he carried himself higher and higher into the air, heading straight towards the scent of the cow.

Desmodus only had to fly for a few moments until he reached where the cow stood. He was far enough away to still be seen, but only look like a speck in the distance. It was way too far for anyone to tell that he was a dragon unless they had really keen eyesight. He spiraled down from the sky, extending his hind legs out to kick the cow to the ground. His hind legs smacked right into the herbivores' side, sending it flying a few feet away. He lept onto it before grabbing it in his paws, swiftly launching himself back in the air and heading back to Arya.

As Desmodus flew back, he could smell the fear coming from the cow as it squirmed in feeble attempts to escape his grasp. Though it was fighting hard, it wasn't enough to get out of the tight grasp of a dragon. His wings beat as he flew towards Arya, and the closer he got, the better he could see her. She became clearer and clearer with each flap of his wings as he propelled himself forward to the human.

Before he landed, he reached for the cow and grabbed it in his jaws. Then, his large paws thumped on the ground next to his human, and he slowly turned his head to look at her. He dropped the cow before smashing one of his front wing paws over it's snout, suffocating it to death. "So. I got some food. I think this is enough for the both of us?" A hiss came from his throat when he had to pin the cow with his other wing to prevent it from squirming. "I don't know whether you eat the meat or it's blood, but I eat both." His crimson glare was locked on the cow, and he watched as it fell limp, it's attempts to escape finally ending. Then, he lifted his paws off of it, pausing for a long moment to ensure the cow didn't move. Then, he took one of his claws and gently made a perfect slice of it, dropping the slice in front of Arya. The slice was probably bigge than her entire head. "I think that should be enough for you, right?" He hissed as he picked up the rest of the cow in his paws. He examined it for a bit before digging his fangs into it, and sucking it's blood out. The taste was honestly amazing to him; cow blood was always his favorite meal. He quietly sucked it's blood out to hide that it was what he was doing, but it was honestly obvious what he was doing. So many others would think he was disgusting back at his home, but he honestly didn't care. He didn't want to attract any hostile attention to himself, and by hostile attention I mean bullies that wanna make him feel bad for drinking blood instead of water.

"I... don't eat raw meat," she admitted. "Cow is more acceptable to be towards the raw side, but it's not safe for us humans to eat it completely raw. Though it is very sweet of you." She watched him for a few moments, then gasped. "Oh! You're like a bat! That's what you remind me of!" She looked a little overly excited. "I love bats!"

Borealis Alarie

Female Rider || Dragon: Xyron || M: (Dir) Xyron. (Ind) None.

~

Borealis could see that the dragon had a rather pleased look on his face, but she didn't know why. She was greatly tempted to look around and see what was causing him to look that way, but she didn't know if she could fully trust the dragon yet. If he decided to attack the moment she looked away, she wouldn't even have a chance at getting away. So she decided that it was best to watch him and make sure he didn't attack.

Xyron's crimson gaze suddenly swapped to something else. Borealis couldn't see what he was looking at since he blocked her view by how gargantuan he was, so she had to step to the side a bit to see around him. She caught a faint glimpse of a dragon chucking someone around in the sky, caring little for their safety. She heard a low growl of disapproval come from Xyron as he watched the dragons. She could slightly see worry on his face as he watched, but he didn't seem to dare interfere it, and his gaze followed the human that was dropping from the sky. The careless dragon that was playing with the person caught them before carrying them to the ground.

Borealis turned to look back at her dragon, watching him as he shook his mighty head before swiveling his gaze back to her, gently nudging her with his nose. His deep voice rang in her head once again when he began to reassure her that he wouldn't let her fall. For a second, she thought he was going to grab her and do the same thing the other dragons were doing, but he did not, instead he just stared at her with his big crimson eyes.

Then, Borealis hesitated for a moment before gently reaching her hand back out and patting the wyvern on the snout, carefully ensuring she didn't touch the large spike on the tip on his snout. He unexpectedly puffed in her face before spinning around and starting to walk away. He headed towards the shade, settling underneath it to cool down. She was about to follow him, but seeing how he looked slightly nervous, (?) she decided to leave him alone, and stay where she was.

Beatrice "Birdie" Brailas
New Rider || Female || Mentions: Keziah, Kenji, Aalis, Rhyor
Indirectly Mentions: None

Gazing at the dragon before her, the one that now belonged to her, Birdie found herself at a loss for words. She had been staring like a fool for what felt like minutes, whereas in reality, it was no more than a few seconds. She couldn't fathom the thought of being a rider. Among the entire crowd, how was it that she was chosen? By a lunar dragon no less. What did she do with this information? How should she react?

Scanning the surroundings, Beatrice managed to break her gaze away from Haki (poor girl couldn't remember her dragon's full name), and observed. She took note of the other selected riders – their responses, appearing composed and neutral. Was nobody panicking? Was nobody confused? From her perspective, her entire life had now been uprooted. It had all changed. How were so many managing to remain so composed?

'I'm sorry, I'm not sure how to react,' she admitted, wrapping her arms around herself lightly. This unexpected turn of events had caught her off guard. She had merely accompanied Keziah and Kenji to offer support. The last thing she expected was to be chosen herself.

Shifting her weight from side-to-side, Beatrice turned her attention to Keziah, noticing the hesitant step backward. The action was soon followed by her hand being reached for once more, and upon contact, Bea held on firmly, preventing her from retreating further.

"No, I want you here. The dragons will be alright," she assured, stealing a glance at her dragon momentarily to check. She wasn't entirely convinced by her own words, but she needed Kez by her side. She couldn't let her go, not now. She had already lost Kenji, who remained held captive by his dragon. She couldn't bear to lose Kez too.

Speaking of Kenji, she shot him a brief glance. "Are you still good over there?" She asked, briefly checking on his well-being. Her gaze avoided his dragon, still harboring some fear stemming from the stick incident. It wasn't as if she were responsible for certain dragons turning on their riders. How could she have predicted that Kenji was not in any danger?

While Bea held onto Keziah, her eyes briefly skipped away from Kenji and past Kez upon seeing further movement. It was a third dragon, one that even Bea could recognize as a light dragon. The newcomer exuded an ethereal aura and, despite moving purposefully, seemed more serene than the others. Strangely, Bea didn't feel the same fear towards her; there was a warmth in her presence.

Her gaze followed the new arrival as the dragon approached, fixating on Keziah. Suddenly, Bea's eyes lit up. She shifted her gaze between the dragon and Keziah, realizing that the dragon was headed directly for her friend. A smile threatened to break free as Beatrice released her hold on Keziah, instead placing her hands on her shoulders.

"You know what, Kez? Maybe you should give us some space. After all, you don't have a dragon, right?" Her grin became impossible to hide, and she playfully patted Keziah's back before taking a step back herself. "Quite the shame, really. Such a missed opportunity." She shook her head, attempting a mock pout before breaking into a grin again, her eyes shifting beyond Keziah once more. The dragon now stood directly behind her. Had Kez backed up a few feet, she would have walked right into the creature.. Well, that wasn't such a bad idea.

"Here, why don't you take some steps back. I think my dragon is feeling territorial. I can sense it." Glancing to Haki once more, Beatrice shot her a wink. "Uh oh, she's very, very angry. Best to back up until I tell you to stop."

K'issuk Rán
Water Dragon || Female || Mentions: Beollan, Tęgomir
Indirectly Mentions: None

She had positioned herself at his side, seated on her haunches with her head turned towards him. Her gaze studied him intently, locking with his own. He stood much taller than her, a natural outcome considering his age. Although she couldn't pinpoint the exact years, K'issuk could sense that he had lived longer than her.

"No need to worry, I've chased him off," she reassured, noticing a hint of aggression in his curled lip. If she had to make a guess, he probably detected the scent of humans on her. She was even adorned with a saddle, which must have been quite an annoying sight. If her preparations had been better, she might have asked Kaia to remove the saddle temporarily, just to make things more comfortable for the fire dragon. However, in this particular situation, they lacked the time for both setting up and taking it off. Thus, she was stuck with it for the time being, and the fire dragon would simply have to make do.

The scent of smoke suddenly filled her senses as it wafted out of the fire dragon's nostrils, jaws, and openings on his head. It was an intriguing sight, especially those vents on his head. K'issuk couldn't help but steal a quick glance, although she quickly averted her gaze, realizing it might come across as impolite. Instead, she refocused upon his eyes, which shone eerily red, as if fire itself was trapped in them.

As he talked, his voice carried a raspy, hoarse quality that seemed to mirror his demeanor, she mused. The more she listened, the stronger the waves of anger emanated from him. It was evident he had no desire to remain in this place. A brief moment of apprehension crept into her thoughts. Dragons like him were known to intentionally cause harm to their riders. Yet, K'issuk wasn't inclined to rush to judgment. Not at this point. She lacked the authority to form an opinion, especially considering their meeting had only occurred seconds ago.

"Beollan suits you," she remarked, relishing the smoothness with which the name sounded. "I'm K'issuk. Actually, K'issuk Rán, though I don't anticipate anyone using both names." As a form of introduction, she offered her tail, coiling it around his in a single, deliberate shake. In her unique manner, it served as a kind of handshake, odd though it might be.

"That sounds rather painful," she chirped to his mention of resorting to consuming his own eyes rather than being present here. "Surely you don't find yourself being here that awful?" Pausing for a moment, she shifted her attention to the tumultuous scene unfolding before them. As she blinked, K'issuk observed how the storm dragon kept his rider trapped, while a feathered air dragon had let his rider plummet through the air. A hint of annoyance crept onto her otherwise composed expression.

"Then again," she continued, her tone taking on a monotone quality, "I can certainly understand why you might hold that view." Her gaze narrowed as she watched the feathered air dragon, previously responsible for dropping his rider, now playing with him as if he were a mere toy.

Abruptly, a harsh and low screech erupted from her throat, reverberating through the valley as a clear warning directed at the air dragon. In response, the air dragon momentarily displayed a flicker of defiance, yet eventually eased, toning down his behavior for the present moment.

"Animals, the lot of them," she mumbled, shaking her head in disappointment. "It appears that I have my work cut out for me, hm?" She mused, turning back to Beollan.

Tęgomir Venoušek
New Dragon || Air Class || Mentions: Shiro, K'issuk
Indirectly Mentions: Beollan

The sound of his human plummeting towards the earth was a symphony to Tęgomir's ears. It was akin to music, a beautifully orchestrated melody of motion and flips. The artistry he had witnessed was nothing short of genius. With enough practice, they could undoubtedly craft a captivating spectacle. Tęgomir's imagination painted a vivid picture of people gathering to witness their remarkable performance. They had the potential to become famous if they desired!

The allure of fame and stardom consumed Tęgomir as he gazed vacantly into the distance, lost in his daydreams. His thoughts was abruptly shattered by his human, yanking him back to the present. A fleeting annoyance flickered within him, but he brushed it aside.

'You're quite the dull character, aren't ya?' He snorted, circling around his human like a feline before coming to a halt. "Please don't do that again!" He mocked, exclaiming the words before letting out a scoff. With an animated flourish, he even stood on his hind legs, flailing his arms about as if enacting a little performance, before gracefully returning to all fours.

'C'mon, loosen up now.' He chided, eyed the man, beginning to circle him again. 'So, skydiving ain't your thing. What about games? Tag?' He suggested, swatting at the man playfully. 'Or perhaps some roughhousing?' He continued, prancing around the man who remained grounded. Swatting him a few times with his tail, Tęgomir suddenly paused, raising his head as a low, eerie screech was sent his direction.

Narrowing his eyes, he searched for the perpetrator, only to see the form of a water dragon staring at him. Beside her, a fire dragon sat, its colossal form dwarfing others in the vicinity. Flashing her a canine, Tęgomir mumbled something incoherently to himself as the feathers upon his back bristling momentarily with unease before settling.

'Females,' he said, still staring at the water dragon. 'Always tryna take charge, I'm tellin' ya.' Huffing and puffing to himself, Tęgomir shook himself out, a few loose feathers falling to the ground as he did so before plopping himself onto the ground opposite his human.

'I suppose now's a good time to introduce myself, seeing as all the fun was ruined.' Frowning, he shot a daggered look at the water dragon. She seemed to have enough authority, and the fire dragon next to her certainly didn't make him feel better. 'I'm Tęgomir Venoušek, named after my great-grandfather.' Not bothering to wait for a reply, Tęgomir took his human's right hand between his own large ones and shook it, rattling the man's entire body with the action.

Hakidonmuya
Lunar Dragon | 248 | Female | Mentions: Other Dragons [ind.] , Beatrice

The female dragon was quite interested in her human - she didn't know whether she would like being with her human yet, but there was something about the girl that made this process easier. And she watched the child interact with presumably, her friends. The fondness and care the girl had for her two companions made her heart feel a bit warmer towards the being. It was rare to see humans sticking together and not engaged in some form of warfare. So to see the friends casually teasing each other and being worried for each other's safety was refreshing, and she gave a soft chuckle at the confused and nervous response of her Chosen. Interesting, the female muse to herself for no particular reason. Thought she was feeling a bit impatient and annoyed, especially with other dragons being rather close and nearly taking her rider - plus being in the sun wasn't a help. She then noted the response of the Storm Dragon, and gave a rather unimpressed scowl and ignored him - she had no use for a fight at the moment and quite frankly she was exhausted.

And then she remembered, she had a gift for her prospective rider. And she gently got the necklace that was held on a silver chain - and she tapped her rider gently with her tail, and speaking through the bond she lowered her head to present the gift. My name is Hakidonmuya, and you're quite right, most are small compared to me in size, as of now, I fear I won't grow any larger but who's to say. And thank you, most would say eyes do resemble a feline, hopefully it's not unnerving. But I have a gift to offer you, and she presented the chained stone. The stone was opalescent in color - the stone being a lovely milky white color, yet there were slivers of silver and grey with a bold flash of azure and rose when caught in the light. My family calls this stone the Teardrop Of The Moon, it's a rare gem only found once in a while and under special conditions. They say that it's best to harvest one from coal under the skies of the Azure Moon in a cold region. But these gems are precious, and given only to those that we care about. I hope that this simple stone is passed down within your family like for generations to come.

And she gingerly placed it in the girls hands, And don't be afraid - not many are chosen, and it seems you are destined for something greater than you think. While most keep composure, you can only imagine how they feel inside, so I say your reaction is quite valid, dear. She said with a slight rumble through their link. And she had to notice the female Light Dragon approach her human's friend, but said girl hadn't noticed. And then her human began teasing her and instructing her to walk backwards. Such a silly girl I have, she said looking at her, now future rider with amusement, and she had to give a deadpan stare at the little one saying she was upset. But she would indulge her mischievous human. Hm, I would prefer to be in the shade, I would say that being in a darker area would greatly improve my mood - this sun is so infuriating, and I'm a Lunar Dragon after all. So I guess we can find a shady spot until the Bonding Ceremony concludes? She said looking at her human for confirmation

The female dipped her head in understanding. Navi circled on the grass a couple times, much the way a dog or cat might circle on their bed before she settled down. Her tail curled up neatly around her talons, the tip flicking over her claws.
'If you'd like to sit, you're more than welcome to sit against my side. My wings will make it more comfortable for you.' The feathery wings would provide a nice padding from the harder scales along her sides, which were not particularly comfortable to lean against for extended periods of time.

Kenji Bozzeli

New Rider | M | Mentions: Beatrice, Keziah[ind.] and Rhyhor

Kenji’s gaze flicked to that of his dragon, watching his dragon's snarl seemingly melt off of his face, replaced by a low rumble of sorts after Birdie had hit him. He was visibly relieved that the storm dragon hadn't chosen to retaliate, he would have been horrified watching his friend become injured just because she was looking out for him.

Upon seeing his brother getting snatched up by a feathery-looking dragon, Kenji let out another audible groan. Great. Now he’d have to spend more time with Shiro, and he now had to compete to be the better dragon rider in the family. His initial goal coming out here was to make himself stand out, and now he had competition again. Kenji should've had the role by default considering he was the only one supposed to be at the choosing ceremony, until his twin had shown up.

He winced slightly as the storm dragon mentioned killing his brother. While he would definitely have taken him up on the offer, he wasn’t looking to have his parents kill him for ditching work, and then also…uh… killing his brother. “Not this time no, I supposed we should let him enjoy his dragon for a bit before we kill him, yeah?” Hopefully this time he sounded clear enough through the bond for his dragon to understand, and to not have his eardrums blown out by. His hair began to stand on end at the storm dragon's demonstration of power, electricity humming in the air as it was produced by the dragon.

"Are you still good over there?” A quick check-in from Birdie had both confirmed she was still okay, and that he hadn't hallucinated the last few terrifying minutes of his life. Honestly, Kenji didn't know if the feelings he was feeling were considered to be good, but from where he hung in the grip of his dragon he tried to shoot Birdie a confident smile and a double thumbs up to reassure his friend. His face turned red as he realized the static behavior of his hair had grown, puffing it up 1.5x larger than it was and he quickly did his best to smooth it out.

With a short glance to Birdie’s side, he could see Keziah with a dragon of her own, how great was it that the three of them had all bonded with a dragon?! While he couldn't tell what type of dragon had chosen his friend, Kenji could already sense the pair’s chemistry, Keziah had found the right dragon for her.

“My name, my name is Kenji, and my ‘little friend’ is Bird- Beatrice,” he spoke, looking up to see his dragons shift in mood, it had seemed that he wasn't too excited to see Birdie’s dragon, though, after the pairs earlier confrontation, he could see why. Kenji didn't dislike his friend's dragon in any way, he could just see where he was coming from. “I supposed you have a name too?” Kenji asked the dragon. As the ceremony progressed, the young man's excitement kept growing. It would only be a short period of time before the first ride, and he was nearly humming with excitement.

The young dragon rider also knew of the proceedings beforehand, though he didn't think he would be able to sit still through them with the prospect of riding a dragon awaiting him. He would just have to hope his patience would hold up through it.

Clarabelle

Female | New Rider | Dragon: Navi | Mentions: (directly) Navi, (indirectly) Kenji, Shiro, dragons

Clara nodded and sat beside Navi, leaning gently against her wings. "There's a ceremony soon!" she sent down the link, her eyes sparkling with anticipation. "There is always a guest speaker—I have a feeling it'll be one of the mentors. Or maybe a graduate and their dragon!" She absentmindedly toyed with the soft grass beneath her fingers, arranging it into delicate patterns as she sat criss-crossed on the ground. The sun's warm rays danced across her face, making the soft freckles on her face more prominent.

"How far did you travel to the Valley of Dragons?" Clara inquired, her curiosity piqued. Her gaze remained fixed on the breathtaking panorama that spread out before them—a lush valley surrounded by majestic mountains. She smoothly shifted her attention from one dragon-human pair to another, taking in the diversity of colors, sizes, and wing configurations.

As Clara's gaze swept across the valley, it alighted upon a familiar figure among the dragon-human pairs. "Look, there's Kenji," she noted with a smile, her voice tinged with fondness. She pointed towards a tall, curly-haired boy. Her cousin stood near a magnificent storm dragon. "He’s my cousin, and his twin- Shiro," she explained, a playful grin touching her lips. Clara's eyes continued their search, scanning the area for another familiar face to show Navi. "Now, where is Shiro?" she wondered aloud, her brows furrowing slightly in thought. Her cousins, the twins, were usually inseparable, often found side by side in most gatherings. Yet, as her gaze roamed, only Kenji stood among his friends, leaving Shiro conspicuously absent. Clara’s gaze slid back to Kenji, the air around the group seemed… tense. Her brows deepened as she studied them, she hoped the storm dragon’s personality wouldn’t be too much for Kenji. Clara made a mental note to meet up with the boys later.
