Cal ‘Collie’ Thi Lê | 16 | AB- | Male | Visions | Both | Questioning | M: Everyone (Mostly Aries)

‘Can do. Let’s get going, Cal.’ What Aries said was just a standard Aries response. Aries had chuckled at his joke and reacted like a normal person would to his words. Maybe it was just his schizophrenic mindset, but it felt wrong. It didn’t feel Aries-ly, if that made any sense. Aries-ish? Aries' likeliness? It is probably one of though. Cal was probably just imagining it all. It wasn’t like an alien took over his friend. Or the government replaced his friend with a robot. Or that Aries was secretly an assassin sent to kill him. Fuck, he was just being paranoid now wasn’t he? But somehow it felt wrong. Everything felt off.

No. Cal, for Christ’s sake!

Cal just needed to take his pills probably. He couldn’t keep doubting his friends. Especially not Aries. Aries was absolutely one of his closest friends. Cal had to trust him so it wasn’t like he could keep questioning him like this. If something were wrong, surely Aries would tell him. Well, besides the hurting himself part. He… He was honestly shocked? Why would Aries even think of that? Aries did have bad habits such as smoking, which Cal always scolded him for, so maybe this was just another one of those. Collie was just going to have to keep a closer eye on him to make sure Aries never did anything to hurt himself further. Cal walked after his friend, confident it was him and that everything was alright. Especially after that smirk and wink.

“Hey uh… If you don’t mind me asking…,” Cal started before biting his lip. “Actually nevermind. I don’t wanna bring it up.” Cal waited about five seconds in silence before his loud voice broke the silence again. “Actually fuck it! I am super curious and if curiosity killed the cat I must be more suicidal than I thought!!” Cal turned to look at Aries as he took long strides, not paying attention to the others. “Why did you punch, Leroy? I know he was being a dick, but he is always like that.” Cal kept walking, forgetting to stop to let Aries keep up. “I can handle my own in a fight. It wasn’t anythin’ like a fight, but I could’ve handled it myself if it was. You know that, right?” Cal stopped, giving Aries about a second before continuing his rant. “I mean, you should have seen him from my point of view, man! He was fucking furious. Not like angry. I’va seen the man angry. This was furious. He looked like he wanted to kill you!! Jesus…” Cal’s mind had the possibility to go from normal to downright depressing in the way he processed things. His smile had fallen on his face as he seemed to be genuinely serious for once. “What if Lerory had… What if he had killed you? Not that he would have killed you ‘cause Leroy’s got too big of a heart underneath all his shittiness to kill someone, but what if he had? Or at least hurt you… I love Leroy. I do. I really do. I just think… I think he just needs a friend. Obviously, not me. He hates me. Every time I open my mouth you can just tell he wants to feed me a knuckle sandwich to shut me up. I wish I could help him. He just, like, really hates me…” Cal stopped himself for a moment to chuckle, catching his own words for a moment. “I am getting off topic, but the point is, I can take care of myself. I won’t be able to live with myself if my stupid decision got you killed ‘cause I said something moronic to the wrong guy. Fucking hell! That would be the worst…” Cal stopped abruptly and turned to face Aries on a dime. “You have to promise me you won’t die from my or your own stupidity, got it? I don’t know how I’d get through this shit-hole without you and Axel, so you better use your brain for the important shit and not die on me, got it?” Cal gave a small smile as he stuck up his pinky. “You have to pinky promise. As stupid as it is, you can’t break the pinky promise. It’s like, the first rule of friendship and whatnot. Not that there are rules.”

“You know,” Juniper started to get off topic as he began walking again. “We need friend rules. Like, what would those friend rules be? No ‘your mom’ jokes? Wait if we are actually going to start this friendship rule stuff, no ketchup.” Juniper stuck his tongue out as he shivered in disgust, shoving his hands in his pockets. “Goddamn ketchup. I mean, what even is it? Tomato smoothies sound more like it! That would be like if I put cucumber sauce on hotdogs. Who would ever do that?? Fucking ketchup, man. I hate that stuff. I really do.” Cal paused for a minute, giving a wide grin. “How about you? Any contributions to the friendship rules? No trashy rom coms? No jump scares out of nowhere?” Cal paused for a brief moment and reconsidered his words after hearing what he said out loud. “Actually, I take that back. You can’t take away my trashy rom coms. They might be terrible, but damn it if I don’t want those very classic and plan white people to start dating by the end of the super cheesy and stupid waste of money! Hell, I will eat an entire pack of ketchup just to keep those terrible movies.”

Stop talking, you idiot. He probably doesn’t want to hear you blabbering on and on.

Cal clamped his jaw shut like an alligator shutting its teeth on it’s prey. The only difference was Cal didn’t do it to get food, more only to stop talking before Aries got sick of him. No matter how many times he has gone on long rambling rants and not matter how long they go. He always goes silent for a little while after. Often it is only for a minute, but still.

He probably hates you now. You didn’t even think it was the real him.

Cal swallowed hard before forcing a smile. Cal had gotten good at that. The whole lying with your actions thing. It was something his parents taught him. No one would think anything’s wrong if you always think positive and smile. That stupid motherfucking smile. Even to him, someone who often believed his own lies, hated how fake it made him feel.

Is he even your friend? Does he even like you?

“Hey, I see the others just up ahead!” Cal practically shouted without even realizing it. He was just excited they hadn’t missed the train to be perfectly honest. It looked like little E was being taken care of, even from there. That’s good. The poor kid needs all the help he can get. Beyond that he spotted… “Shit.” Cal sighed, his shoulders deflating. Axel and Leroy still seemed to be talking. “Well this will be fun… One helluva time…” They were getting closer so the two of them needed a plan. “Hey, do you mind helping little E and the others? You’re pretty…” Cal looked him over for a second to confirm his beliefs, nodding slightly. “You’re pretty strong. Incredibly strong. Especially compared to me, really. You could definitely help lift lil’ E. I feel like I should go apologize to Leroy or at least back Axel up. You can come with me if you want. I wouldn’t recommend it since Leroy might still be made.” Cal stood a few more strides before pausing to think. “Actually, maybe it’d be good for you to come. That way, you get a chance to apologize.” Cal smiled brightly to Aries, pausing to give Aries a moment to think. “So what’ll it be Aries?”

Nabih look at the attendee and tried a small smile, of course he’d be the one stuck with coming up with a lie… His mind wrapped around what he knew about Anamosa and he spoke.

--

Eight tickets for Anamosa, please. My little brother here is injured. He lost a dumb bet.

--

And despite the fact that it was pretty obviously a lie, the attendee couldn’t really question it when Ethan was injured. And so, eight tickets were passed to him and he was passing the right amount of money over, $20 from his $60… They still had $40. The cheapest hotel was $18 a night, so he’d just have to hope that at least some of them could find a job. They could probably pay by week…

--

There was also no doubt that the attendee had seen there were only four of them. But since the train wasn’t pulling out until 10:40, they had time for more people to come. Luckily. And, yes, Nabih knew that, that meant he had technically lied to the rest of the group… But that was for this exact reason. Because he didn’t want them to miss the train. Better to make them all think 10:30 was the cutoff so that they had no chance of being late.

--

Hey uh… If you don’t mind me asking… Actually nevermind. I don’t wanna bring it up.

--

It almost stopped moving when the word was spoken, almost flinching just because of surprise. The chants of It seemed louder again now.

--

Don’t pause, keep walking. Don’t react.

--

Actually fuck it! I am super curious and if curiosity killed the cat I must be more suicidal than I thought!!

--

This time it did flinch, sucking in a quick breath.

--

Play that off as surprise. Let him ask his question.

--

It gave a light chuckle, seemingly in confusion, and nodded at Cal for him to continue.

--

Why did you punch, Leroy? I know he was being a dick, but he is always like that. I can handle my own in a fight. It wasn’t anythin’ like a fight, but I could’ve handled it myself if it was. You know that, right?

--

Don’t react, tool. Answer him.

--

That was a mixed signal, it gave a nod anyways. It didn’t really know what he was talking about anyways…

--

I mean, you should have seen him from my point of view, man! He was fucking furious. Not like angry. I’va seen the man angry. This was furious. He looked like he wanted to kill you!! Jesus…What if Lerory had… What if he had killed you? Not that he would have killed you ‘cause Leroy’s got too big of a heart underneath all his shittiness to kill someone, but what if he had? Or at least hurt you… I love Leroy. I do. I really do. I just think… I think he just needs a friend. Obviously, not me. He hates me. Every time I open my mouth you can just tell he wants to feed me a knuckle sandwich to shut me up. I wish I could help him. He just, like, really hates me…

--

It didn’t even wait for an instruction before shrugging. It didn’t matter, not really. Not like it hadn’t looked its equivalent of human death in the face before. And it wasn’t like its life was worth the same amount as Cal’s. It was a thing, not a person, after all.

--

Don’t shrug, tool. Now explain so he DOESN’T worry. Leroy doesn’t hate him.

--

But before it could even open its mouth to speak….

--

I am getting off topic, but the point is, I can take care of myself. I won’t be able to live with myself if my stupid decision got you killed ‘cause I said something moronic to the wrong guy. Fucking hell! That would be the worst…

--

It stared at Calvin. No instruction came though, so it simply waited for Cal to continue,

--

You have to promise me you won’t die from my or your own stupidity, got it? I don’t know how I’d get through this shit-hole without you and Axel, so you better use your brain for the important shit and not die on me, got it?

--

Nod and agree. Give an easy grin.

--

It nodded, slipping on a grin.

--

You have to pinky promise. As stupid as it is, you can’t break the pinky promise. It’s like, the first rule of friendship and whatnot. Not that there are rules.

--

It stared at the finger, for a moment it wondered why it should be scared of taking out its hand to make the promise.

--

Don’t take out a hand, he’s about to go off topic anyways.

--

You know… We need friend rules. Like, what would those friend rules be? No ‘your mom’ jokes? Wait if we are actually going to start this friendship ruleGoddamnketchup. I mean, what even is it? Tomato smoothies sound more like it! That would be like if I put cucumber sauce on hotdogs. Who would ever do that?? Fucking ketchup, man. I hate that stuff. I really do. stuff, no ketchup. How about you? Any contributions to the friendship rules? No trashy rom coms? No jump scares out of nowhere? Actually, I take that back. You can’t take away my trashy rom coms. They might be terrible, but damn it if I don’t want those very classic and plan white people to start dating by the end of the super cheesy and stupid waste of money! Hell, I will eat an entire pack of ketchup just to keep those terrible movies.

--

It gave a huffing of laughter after its brain had caught up to what was said, the silence was familiar enough though.

--

Wait this out, he’ll start talking again soon.

--

It gave the slightest of nods, walking while it waited.

--

Hey, I see the others just up ahead!

--

And, in fact, it could too. The rest of the group of people who didn’t seem to think having a thing as a friend was weird.

--

““Shit. Well this will be fun… One helluva time… Hey, do you mind helping little E and the others? You’re pretty… You’re pretty strong. Incredibly strong. Especially compared to me, really. You could definitely help lift lil’ E. I feel like I should go apologize to Leroy or at least back Axel up. You can come with me if you want. I wouldn’t recommend it since Leroy might still be mad.

--

Strong? Is he staring at the right thing?

--

Only reasonable explanation. It isn’t strong at all, it’s quite pathetic, really.

--

Actually, maybe it’d be good for you to come. That way, you get a chance to apologize. So what’ll it be Aries?

--

Aries? Was there someone other than Cal there? It almost turned to look behind itself…

--

Do not look. Go with him to Leroy. Apologize for being the terrible thing you are and punching him.

--

It nodded, half to Cal and half to the voice. “Let’s go see Leroy.

--

And with that, it continued walking, this time towards the smaller group of Axel and Leroy… And once it arrived, it took a quick look at Leroy… The man looked upset, but not the mad sort of upset. More like the sad type of upset.

--

Convince him to come as an apology. Smirk. Appeal to his ego.

--

Yo, Leroy… Pretty sure there’s a train to catch.” It gave him a smirk as it continued. “You are coming, right? Can’t have this trip without you keeping the trip interesting, after all. Who else’s gonna protect the shorties if not you?

--

Good. Hold his gaze now as to show honesty.

--

And so it did, its eyes stayed glued on Leroy’s own, its eyelids halfway lidding its eyes dully, causing light to seemingly miss them which in turn caused it to seem as if they weren’t shining at all, which in turn caused the eyebags underneath to seem highlighted.

Tickets aquired, XP gained, and most of the group back. Success. Probably. "Let's wait somewhere visible." They'd have to stick around outside until the train was about to leave. None of the others would want to leave any of the others behind, at least not yet. Maybe in the future, when each found a place they'd like to stay, but otherwise everyone was stuck with each other. Hopefully the other four wouldn't miss the train. It would suck to have paid for their tickets if they don't show. There weren't any passengers waiting on the platform with them, just other station workers. There was one woman smoking in a corner at the far end of the platform, clearly on a break, so Tyler manuvered the carrying-crew away from her. Tobacco smoke smelled disgusting, and it was pretty clear that Ethan had some issues with it.
===========================
It didn't seem like he was still bleeding, but it was pretty obvious that his whole left (Can't remember if it was ever said what side was injured, so I'm guessing) side was torn to raw ribbons. Some blood spots were still visible in the fabric, but at least the whole shoulder wasn't dripping red. That would be a very bad thing, and very obvious to any passersby, which would make it so much harder to vanish into the backstreets of Anamosa. That's not even getting into attempted muggings. Because statistically, they'd be more likely to have some knife-or-gun-waving dude ordering them to hand over their cash. Well, joke's on them, they didn't have much money. Plus, usually it's pairs or a single person that get targeted. Eight, even just four, is a daunting number to rob in a dark alleyway. So they were probably fine. Maybe. Hopefully they wouldn't need to actually go to a doctor. None of them could afford that right now. Plus, hotels were usually expensive, depending on general quality and popularity. Sure, they wouldn't be going to some high-end tourist place, but still.

Leroy Hall/Ethan Brimstone/Axel Founte

16/B-/O/A/Male/Trans male/Water/Aura Sensing/Quicker Healing/Both/Pansexual/Gay/Asexual Panromantic

The pain was causing Ethan's vision to shake, he couldn't focus on more than one sense at a time, so he closed his eyes and focused on the sound of voices. He could at least identify who was who that way.

TJ said something about him needing to eat or something and E silently cursed in his head. Of course he was small, he basically had to beg for food at home because, according to Val, 'everything came with a price.' If he wanted to eat he had to 'pay for it.' Starving had always sounded better than that. As he was lifted, E grimaced in pain. Why did everything have to hurt so bad?

Yo, Leroy… Pretty sure there’s a train to catch. You are coming, right? Can’t have this trip without you keeping the trip interesting, after all. Who else’s gonna protect the shorties if not you?”

Leroy stared at Aries in confusion. He had just attacked him and now he was talking about protection? How did any of that make sense?

Axel smiled gratefully at Aries and Cal, nodding along with the spoken words.

"C-come on, Leroy." Axel encouraged, reaching out and cautiously touching the half-blind male's arm. "T-the others a-are waiting."

Slowly, Leroy nodded, dropping his gaze to the ground. "If you're sure?"

"P-positive."

"Fine, I'll go." Leroy's voice was still gruff as he tried to sound strong, realizing that his previous outburst had most likely revealed some emotions he didn't really want anyone to see. At least only Axel seemed to have heard, that made things a little easier. The small boy most likely wouldn't tell anyway.

"G-great! Let's go!" Axel said, smiling and starting towards the station where the others were gathered, making sure the others were still with him as he did so. As he passed Aries he smiled, and, in a lowered voice, he spoke. "T-thanks Aries, really, I-I don't think he would h-have come without you s-saying that."

Leroy walked in the back of the small group, keeping his distance but making sure to keep everyone in his line of sight. As they got closer to the station he spotted TJ, Nabih, Eva, and Ethan(on his makeshift stretcher), waiting for them. Axel waved greeting and trotted over, heading straight to E.

"H-how's E doing?" He asked, causing the mute's eyes to flutter open and turn toward Axel, he didn't smile, just looked at the other boy for a moment before looking away and closing his eyes again. He vision was hazy and it hurt to move at all because of his stupid left side. "N-not too good? I-it's okay, E, I-I'm sure they h-have a first aid kit s-somewhere and I can r-really patch you up w-when we find one!" The shy boy stated, trying to sound optimistic. He knew all too well how it felt to be stuck doing nothing while someone else took care of him. It often felt awkward and you felt bad for asking for something that you needed, making them work while you were helpless.

"Y-you got lucky, the a-ankle looks like it was j-just twisted, not sprained, s-so it should be m-mostly better in a few d-days as long as y-you limit the time y-you actually use it, and your side w-will bruise and be s-sore for a while, b-but there's not and p-permanent damage there e-either. Same with y-your shoulder, though we s-should probably put an i-ice pack on that to k-keep it from s-swelling. T-the biggest worry is y-your arm. Y-you seem to have t-taken a whole layer of skin off, b-but it should be okay w-when it's actually wrapped up and treated with antibacterial cream. Y-you can also take s-some pain medicine. T-Tylenol or Ibuprofen, then w-we can check up on i-it and clean it e-every day for a weak or so. Y-you should be better in n-no time!"

Leroy hung back after reach the group, waiting to get on the train and hoping no one would speak to him. He really didn't feel like talking right now.

Cal ‘Collie’ Thi Lê | 16 | AB- | Male | Visions | Both | Questioning | M: Everyone

Aries is being awfully quiet.

Aries hadn’t been talking much. Not that he was as big of a chatter box as Collie, but he was just oddly quiet. He chuckled at his jokes and seemed to be nodding along. Whatever happened before and directly after Aries punched Leroy, something must have happened. Cal wasn’t necessarily great at psychology, but he liked it here and there. It made him feel a bit more normal at least. Anyways, focusing back on the topic at hand. Maybe Aries had some trauma of some sort. Maybe that just threw him into an episode. Aries didn’t talk about himself a whole lot. Even Aries’s name sounds made up. Ariethous. It always felt like Collie could talk about anything, but he barely knew a thing about Aries himself. It was peculiar. Come to think of it, Cal had never asked a thing about Aries. He wasn’t too nosy so long as no one was getting hurt. Whatever the case was, he would talk to Aries about it later.

“Wait… really?” Cal asked, hesitant he heard Aries correctly. Aries, surprisingly, chose to go with Cal. “Oh uhh… Alrighty then!” Aries had already started to walk off. For once, Cal just let him lead, stopping every few steps to give Aries space. Studying the man from behind for once as Cal was walking after him, he noticed blood. Dark crimson blood was forming on the back of Aries’s scalp from scratch marks. It was barely visible, but Cal was good at noticing things. Cal’s jaw tightened to make sure and he bit his tongue to make sure he didn’t spew out any words or comments just yet. Oh, that would definitely be something he talked about with Aries later.

The entire time Aries talked while they were both over with Leroy, Cal held his breath. He wouldn’t tell Leroy this, to not let it go over his head or anything, but he was crossing his fingers the whole time. He didn’t want Leroy to leave. Like he had told Aries before, Leroy was a good guy. Great guy really. Problem is, this shithole made him so hostile. Cal didn’t blame Leroy. He really couldn’t. It was just how he grew up. Cal grew up in a different climate so he came out to be a different product. More lying, more harsh comebacks at even the slightest of aggression. Leroy just had more anger. And rightfully so. Whatever happened to him must have been bad. He is very caged up about his past like he is with just about everything. He seems like a main character in a dark edgy movie with a tragic backstory that isn’t fully known until the end of the movie. And by that point, you know about the scar, the pain, and everything that character went through. If this were one of those dark movies, Cal just hoped Leroy got a good ending to it.

“Thank fuckin’ god,” Cal mumbled in a sigh under his breath. Cal finally felt like he could breathe again. “I seriously thought Leroy would leave us.” Cal knew Leroy probably would have heard him, but he didn’t care. Cal was just relieved he wasn’t getting abandoned. “I am not a religious man, but damn if I ain’t praising the lord right now for once for one helluva job he just did!”

Leroy still hates you, you know?

Cal was seriously glad he had friends here. Like, seriously fucking glad. Sure, Axel and Aries were his closest friends, but Cal relied on the other too. Ethan, lil’ E, was just the most sassy and badass in some ways yet the most caring person. Besides Axel. Axel was super sweet too. Evie was a badass too. Cool and great at video games. And Leroy- Fuck. He was just thinking on and on about his friends. He did this a lot. Fantasize over all the amazing people he has met. Cal has met quite a few. Quite a few amazing people that is. Ask him about anyone he has met. Go ahead, he’ll dare you to. He can recount every detail about them. Small, seemingly insignificant details.

Like Peppy. Peppy was this guy’s nickname. It made no sense for that to be his nickname since his real name was Lucas. Cal was sure there was a story behind it, but whenever Cal brought it up, the man’s honey skin would turn to more like his dyed red hair. Peppy was the kind of guy who everyone loved. Hell, all the girls in the school melted over him like he was the sun on a hot Texas day. The only girl he ever loved though was his little sister, Wendy. The only reason he didn’t love his mom too was because she was six feet under. Peppy was a character though. Super funny guy. A pure fucking comedian. He’d be on TV some day if he wasn’t in such a shit-hole. Cal was sure of that. You could always tell when he was laughing or smiling too because the whole room became like a fucking carnival with the amount of smiles on everyone else’s faces. Even if he had his smile covered, you’d still see that sparkle like thing that seems like something out of a shitty anime. You’d always see that smile when teachers handed out tests, no matter how hard Peppy tried to hide it. Speaking of which, Peppy was a damn genius too. All As in every class he had. Never seen the guy break a sweat over that stuff either. Cal had all As too at the time, but he just needed to work a helluva lot harder for it than Peppy. Peppers, that was another nickname the guys called him, always knew how to do an equation in math, could read a book in a minute, and was just a damn wizard in History. He would gush on and on about the Egyptians especially. Peppy was fucking amazing at that stuff. He must have been a time traveler and lived for a few years in that place. That must have been it. Peppy was cool like that. Someone could say he was a time traveler and you’d totally believe it.

Cal followed after Axel and looked down at Ethan as Axel talked. The man looked so small before, but he looked even smaller now. He looked tired too. Like it had been a rough night. Or like I’m those old people when you can just see in their eyes that they are tired. They don’t want to go to sleep and don’t need rest, they are just tired of life as a whole. It was depressing really, seeing E so helpless like this. They were so close to freedom and yet here he was: laying on a makeshift whatcha-ma-callit, looking like a wounded dog.

You couldn’t even help him. You and your stupid idiotic brain couldn’t think properly to save your life.

“Hey, lil’ E. How ya doing, bud?” Cal spoke gently. He was much quieter than how he normally was and it showed. “Here I uhhhh…” Cal paused to shuffle around in his bag before pulling out a lollipop. “I know I shouldn’t be given away all our food just yet, but you look like you need this.” It was one of those tootsie pop ones. With the chocolate in the middle. They were Cal’s favorite food since it was one of the few sweet foods he had ever had. Cal turned briefly to Axel. “You said it’ll only be a few weeks at most, right?” Cal nodded slightly to himself before Cal even spoke, his eyes drifting back down to Ethan. “Of course, you know this. I am glad we have someone smart in our group of dumbasses!” Cal paused for a moment. “Don’t worry E, we gotcha back.” Cal paused for a moment yet again before tacking on more to his last statement. “Not literally though. That would just be weird. Pretty sure you also need your back to function, buuuuut you get the point!!”

Cal had never in his life been on a train. Unless you count a toy train he remembered being shoved on top of and breaking at his first day of daycare back when he still lived in New York. That was the closest thing he had been to that. He had moved homes twice in his life, but he had never ridden a train. Hell, he had never left this shit-hole of a country. America wasn’t too terrible of a country in Cal’s eyes most of the time. He knew it was mostly just corrupt people making more and more corrupt people. Like his fake family for instance. He can’t even blame his parents, he just blames the tradition that they were taught. Part of Collie felt bad for his parents. They didn’t know any better.

Just like Leroy.

“Hey Aries,” Cal chuckled in a quiet voice, elbowing him lightly with a smirk, “you excited? ‘Cause I sure as hell am! This’ll be awesome. I am calling a spot with you and Axel now. Or with Ethan. Ethan needs a buddy. Or maybe…” Cal paused as he seemed to think for a moment before speaking in his normal, loud and over the top, voice to Axel. “Axel, is there anyway all of us can sit next to each other without all cramming into one seat? Don’t get me wrong, I would be fine all piling onto one seat as long as I am not on the bottom, but I don’t think that’d be very comfortable for everyone else… I can’t leave the others out of my great bedtime stories!~”

Bedtime stories my ass. They’re always terrible. No one will want to listen.

Cal was getting pissed off now. Not like angry or anything, just moderately annoyed as he grinded his teeth. Unwittingly, Cal began nervously chewing on the nail of his thumb again. He used to love that voice. He still did, but it was frustrating as to what it was saying. Had it been his parent’s voice, he wouldn’t have cared, but this was starting to get… Cal was starting to get pissed. As soon as he got on that train, his next goal after talking to Aries about the blood would be to take his damn pills.

It watched Leroy and Axel, just barely hearing Cal come over; what with how loud the chanting had become.

--

C-come on, Leroy. T-the others a-are waiting.

--

If you're sure?

--

P-positive.

--

Fine, I'll go.

--

G-great! Let's go!

--

It nodded, turning and beginning to walk when it heard Axel speak in a lowered voice.

--

T-thanks Aries, really, I-I don't think he would h-have come without you s-saying that.

--

It looked over at Axel and stared for a moment. That name again… What was up with that name? Was that what these people knew it as…? It wasn’t sure. Not like that mattered much anyways though.

--

Keep walking. Stay next to Loudmouth. After five seconds, look back at Blind with a grin. Swish head bald and forth a bit as to move hair.

--

It gave the slightest of nods, making sure it was walking next to Cal as it walked towards the station with the small group. After five seconds of walking, it looked back at Leroy, giving him an easy grin before turning and continuing normally again, making sure as it turned its head hat hat it’s hair was moving with it. It wasn’t too sure why, though it could feel something getting covered as it did this.

--

Nabih returned a wave to Axel in greeting, listening in to what he said to Ethan. He really did need to make sure he knew these things.

--

H-how's E doing? N-not too good? I-it's okay, E, I-I'm sure they h-have a first aid kit s-somewhere and I can r-really patch you up w-when we find one! Y-you got lucky, the a-ankle looks like it was j-just twisted, not sprained, s-so it should be m-mostly better in a few d-days as long as y-you limit the time y-you actually use it, and your side w-will bruise and be s-sore for a while, b-but there's not any p-permanent damage there e-either. T-Tylenol or Ibuprofen, then w-we can check up on i-it and clean it e-every day for a week or so. Y-you should be better in n-no time!

--

He nodded along, writing mental notes as he spoke. He should’ve brought a first-aid kit…

--

You said it’ll only be a few weeks at most, right? Of course, you know this. I am glad we have someone smart in our group of dumbasses!

--

And despite himself, he let himself tense ever-so slightly at the indirect insult. He wasn’t dumb. He wasn’t. There was no reason to react that way. Cal had meant it as a joke type of thing… Right…? Right… Right. He peeled his eyes away from the rest of the group and instead looked at the only correctly timed clock nearby. He’d be the timer then, while waiting.

--

Hey Aries,

--

It was elbowed as it looked at Cal, raising an eyebrow curiously.

--

you excited? ‘Cause I sure as hell am! This’ll be awesome. I am calling a spot with you and Axel now. Or with Ethan. Ethan needs a buddy. Or maybe…

--

And then Cal was turning to someone else, Axel. So it didn’t bother trying to answer him, just went back to staring at Ethan, listening to the chantings.

--

Oh gosh- It did that much damage?

--

Technically BLIND did the damage- IT just caused said damage.

--

It was the one to attack first.

--

Why did it think that was a good idea?

--

This is why it should’ve just punched a wall.

--

We tried to warn it. It just didn’t listen. As per usual.

--

It really is just a stupid thing, isn’t it?

--

Can’t believe Loudmouth actually wants it to come with.

--

You really believe that? He probably just wants to use it for some quick cash.

--

You mean like the fights it used to do? Oh, that would be awesome!

--

Only thing it’s good, and useful, for too.

--

It really is just a pathetic excuse of a husk. Why are they wasting their time with it again?

--

No real clue. But maybe for the underground fighting idea.

--

Nabih saw when the clock hit 10:38, and deciding it had been long enough, looked at the group. “Alright everyone, let’s get boarding. Two minutes before it pulls out of the station, after all.

--

And with that, he began maneuvering the makeshift stretcher, and Ethan, onto the train and into one of the train car sitting rooms. The train was much like the one from Harry Potter, just bigger with bigger sitting rooms. Which was lucky for them, since they needed the extra room. Each bench-seat could probably fit three to four people.

--

It had looked up again when Nabih spoke, nodding along to the statement and holding back a flinch as the loudest voice instructed. It followed into the train and into the sitting room, standing to the side as to let everyone else pick which seats they wanted first. After all, people had more worth than things.

Tyler 'TJ' Jacobson/16/O+/Male/Spotted Hyena/Mono/Bisexual/Mentions: General
===========================
About time. Everyone was back together, and they could board. As they all ambled up the machine, Tyler kept an eye out for anyone staring. The car they'd chosen was empty, at least, so no one would demand to know who they were and what they were doing. The train interior was pretty average, as far as design went. The car's walls were lined with four different compartments, all separated with floor-to-ceiling walls. The doors slid on rails, and were lockable from the inside. Everything was colored a soft beige tone, with small fleur-de-lis symbols repeated in a darker tan. There was a single bar window along the back, though it didn't look like it would open. They pulled into a compartment towards the end of the car, close to the entrance they came from. Tyler set half of the frame-stretcher on one of the bench seats, still supporting the other side. "Right, off you get. Can't do too much 'till you get on a more stable seat." He'd totally forgotten bandanges. Granted, he also couldn't have known that these idiots would be starting a street fight right before they were slated to get out of this town. Or that a different idiot would try to stop the first two by throwing himself between the two. That's not how to stop a fight! Maybe throw a rock, or make a loud noise, don't football-tackle one of them. Each and every one of them were crazy. So was he, but in a different way. A better kind of crazy, the kind that actually helps stuff. Break-fifty-seven-dogs-out-of-a-puppy-mill kind of crazy, rather than let's-start-a-street-brawl-in-the-middle-of-the-day.

Leroy Hall/Ethan Brimstone/Axel Founte

16/B-/O/A/Male/Trans male/Water/Aura Sensing/Quicker Healing/Both/Pansexual/Gay/Asexual Panromantic

“Hey, lil’ E. How ya doing, bud? Here I uhhhh… I know I shouldn’t be given away all our food just yet, but you look like you need this."

Ethan's eyes opened again at Cal's voice and, even injured as he was, couldn't resist smiling as Calvin handed over a lollypop which E accepted with his uninjured hand. Axel smiled too, watching the interaction.

“You said it’ll only be a few weeks at most, right?" Axel nodded confirmation as Cal kept talking. “Of course, you know this. I am glad we have someone smart in our group of dumbasses! Don’t worry E, we gotcha back. Not literally though. That would just be weird. Pretty sure you also need your back to function, buuuuut you get the point!!”

Axel blushed at the compliment and smiled at the joke. "T-Thanks, Cal, but I d-don't think any of y-you are dumb, I j-just have more experience i-in this field." He answered lightly, aware that some people may take Calvin's joke a little too seriously.

“Hey Aries, you excited? ‘Cause I sure as hell am! This’ll be awesome. I am calling a spot with you and Axel now. Or with Ethan. Ethan needs a buddy. Or maybe… Axel, is there anyway all of us can sit next to each other without all cramming into one seat? Don’t get me wrong, I would be fine all piling onto one seat as long as I am not on the bottom, but I don’t think that’d be very comfortable for everyone else… I can’t leave the others out of my great bedtime stories!~”

Axel laughed at that. "I-I'm sure there'll be p-plenty of room for e-everyone, Cal. And I e-expect a story now t-that you've said t-that." He stated warmly, looking over as Ethan moved his good arm slightly to rest it on his chest.

Leroy was watching Ethan too, anger that was directed only at himself was hidden in his eyes. He had done that, that pain that Ethan was feeling right now was his fault. Just like everything else bad was. Leroy couldn't go somewhere without getting hurt, and he hated it.

No-

He hated himself for it. He hated that he had to be so guarded and angry all the time and that he couldn't even trust himself to walk next to someone for too long because he might end up punching them.

He hated that he was scared to get close to people, and he hated, even more, the fact that if he did get close to someone he would either hurt them or lose them.

Why couldn't he just be a goddamn good person for once?!? He just wanted to take care of people without hurting them, without losing them, but it simply wasn't possible.

Not for him.

Alright everyone, let’s get boarding. Two minutes before it pulls out of the station, after all.

Leroy snapped himself out of his silent scolding and nodded, following the group as they boarded the train. He took a seat in the back, away from everyone else. He may be traveling with them, but he certainly didn't trust himself near them, especially after Ethan.

Axel followed the group too, walking next to Cal and Aries. He was okay to sit with anyone, but he did want to keep an eye on E. He knew that the mute would be fine, but there was always that 'what if' playing through his mind, so he preferred to at least be able to see the injured boy.

E winced a little when he was lifted again, but, true to his nature, he didn't complain or even let out any sounds of pain, he just sucked it up and let the others carry him aboard. He was grateful for the stretcher, if he had had to walk, Ethan probably would have passed out a while ago due to pain. But being carried made things durable.

Not fun, mind you, but definitely not the worst pain he had ever felt. Plus, the fact that he was getting away from home with friends somehow made everything better.

He had a few bruises and a bloody arm, so what? He was getting away from Val! The pain didn't matter anymore because E knew it was temporary, back home there was always more pain to follow.

Not here, not now. He was almost free!

Cal ‘Collie’ Thi Lê | 16 | AB- | Male | Visions | Both | Questioning | M: Everyone

Cal couldn’t help but chuckle, nodding along to Axel’s statement of dumb people in the group. “Yeah, I guess you’re right,” Cal smiled, nodding some more. You would have thought he was a damn bobblehead for all his nodding at the moment. “I mean, you yourself said you’re a medical magician!! We also have TJ, the mans practically a forest spirit, who can Macgyver just about anything a helluva lot better than me. Lil’ E is just a fucking Quiz Kid at everything. Like a damn Wikipedia!! Evie can just think on her feet like a ballerina of doing smart stuff. And Nabih?” Cal let out a low whistle as he chuckled loudly. His laugh was a good one to hear, like music to anyone’s ears. It was deep and always seemed to echo. It was a real laugh. Not like everyone else’s fake laughs. “Nabih is just the damn smartest!! Always thinking ahead. I bet he’s an all A’s student. I bet he barely had to even try to get +As!! Nabih is probably the closest any of us will get for an actually good father-figure.” Collie hadn’t meant to say that last bit out loud, but it was true. Fuck, without Nabih everything would be so shitty! Nabih was smart and actually got money so they didn’t have to hijack the train like something out of a cowboy movie. Collie paused for a minute.

You’re the only dumb one in the group.

“Wait a second,” Cal mumbled before puffing his cheeks and narrowing his eyes slightly, “I am the only damn stupid one here?? This is an outcry! Outroar! Out-what-the-actual-fuck!!” Cal threw up his hands in a fit. He wasn’t actually angry, he was just joking around. It was quite funny to watch actually. Like a terrible play of some sort. Cal huffed grumpily before folding his arms in an annoyed fashion. “I can’t believe this. Fine. I guess I will be the comic guy relief. God knows ya need it when you all are so damn serious all the time without me!” Cal waved a playful finger at Axel as he turned to face him fully. “And don’t say I am not dumb cause I am. I am sure ol’ Nabih over here-” Cal hooked an arm around Nabih’s neck and pulled him in with a cheesy grin- “can totally agree, eh? I am super stupid! At least compared to you.”

Truth is, Cal wasn’t too dumb. At least, he thought, hoped, he wasn’t. He was observant and had lots of street smarts. Cal was an okay student too. Getting at worst a C+ in English despite his A in Science. The only reason he had such a poor grade in English was his grammar. He was great at describing things and even better at writing things, but his grammar was like a time traveler given a caveman a pen and asking him to write an essay. He mostly had Bs in every other class though. The only difference with him and the others is he would sometimes forget to apply logic to a situation and instead revert immediately back to a more emotional standpoint.

Just admit you’re dumb. There is no point in lying to yourself.

Walking on the train, he stayed as close to the others as possible. Cal wasn’t good with new places. Every time Collie went to a new place, shit just got worse. The first time they moved, his parents started to fight. The second, Cal lost everything and everyone he cared for. Helluva escalation between those two so Cal was genuinely worried for the worst. Cal tried not to show his panicking by chewing his thumb nervously.

Cal claimed a middle seat on the train. As weird as that might sound to not choose the window seat, and probably the worst seat on the train, Cal wanted support, even if the others didn’t know that they were giving it to him. Just being surrounded by people was soothing.

It was when he was alone that he got nervous.

You’re forgetting something.

“Oh, hey!” Cal stood abruptly and shot up so fast you would have thought he had sat in fire. “Axel, can you save my seat for a minute?” Cal walked over and placed his arm on Aries’s shoulder. “I will be right back, but I just need to go to the bathroom. I will take Aries with me so I don’t get snatched off by kidnappers or whatever. Buddy system, ya know?” Cal was big on the buddy system. Huge on it really. It wasn’t a phobia of his to be left alone by himself, but it was near to that. “I’ll be right back, I promise, so you won’t have to save my seat for long!!”

Before anyone could protest, Cal gave an excited wave goodbye and flashed Axel with a wide smile. Grabbing Aries’s wrist gently, Cal dragged him off towards the bathroom. After a few steps, Cal let go of Aries. The bathroom wasn’t too much farther from the others, but it was out of the way enough where Cal couldn’t really see the rest of the group. When he got to the one person bathroom, he held the door open for Aries.

“We need to have a talk,” Cal murmured in a voice barely audible to anyone in the train car except for Aries. “About the blood. About how you’ve been actin’.” Cal folded his arms, his eyes narrowing slightly at Aries. He took in a deep breath and puffed his chest to make himself look bigger. To try and get Aries to cooperate. As if that would help. “I won’t force ya to talk too much, but cha at least have to let me have a look at the blood on the back of yer head.”

Nabih gave the slightest of smiles when he heard the compliment, looking at Cal when he wrapped and arm around his neck to pull him closer. He rolled his eyes at the self-deprecating comments. He’d never understand those…

--

It watched as people picked their seats, Ethan and Axel sitting with Calvin, Leroy sitting away from everyone else, Nabih sitting next to TJ and Evie. Everyone was sitting… And then Calvin stood.

--

Oh, hey! Axel, can you save my seat for a minute? I will be right back, but I just need to go to the bathroom. I will take Aries with me so I don’t get snatched off by kidnappers or whatever. Buddy system, ya know? I’ll be right back, I promise, so you won’t have to save my seat for long!!

--

Don’t react.

--

It didn’t have time to wonder what that meant, as Cal grabbed its wrist and started dragging it off, it made sure to hold back any reactions at least. Like the loud voice had instructed. This was just a trip to the bathroom so an important person wouldn’t get kidnapped.

--

He wants to talk. Repeat after me when he starts talking.

--

It gave a slight nod and looked towards the open door. Was it supposed to go in first? That didn’t make much sense…

--

Enter. He’ll wonder why you aren’t.

--

It went in as instructed, standing where there would be plenty of room for Calvin left inside. It stared at him expectantly, waiting.

--

We need to have a talk. About the blood. About how you’ve been actin’. I won’t force ya to talk too much, but cha at least have to let me have a look at the blood on the back of yer head.

--

Let him look. Don’t react. Give him a grin and a shrug after speaking. Repeat after me; Yeah? How’ve been actin’? What’d’ya mean by that? Been ‘xactly the same as always. ‘Sides, dunno how the blood thing happened. Prolly just from the fight though, ya’know? Ya can still look though.

--

It looked at Cal for a moment, letting the voice finish before speaking itself. “Yeah? How’ve been actin’? What’d’ya mean by that? Been ‘xactly the same as always. ‘Sides, dunno how the blood thing happened. Prolly just from the fight though, ya’know? Ya can still look though.

--

And from there it simply grinned with a half-hearted shrug, before feeling the train give a lurch as said train started pulling out of the station. It didn’t react to this either, actually staying rather upright.

--

Hey- Did it forget to tell Jacob it was leaving?

--

Who was that?

--

Did it bring its phone?

--

It had it earlier to check the time. So, maybe. It should send a text then, right?

--

Yeah. It should.

--

It didn’t matter, it’d probably find out later anyways. For now, it had to keep up with the situation going on with Calvin.
