Arthur watched the other dogs as they played with each other. He sat a short distance away, not interested in whatever they were doing. He walked farther away in hopes of not being disturbed.

Laika sat down on the hard cold ground in the barn. She was pretty far from her other teammates for she had her own corner. She walked over to the fence to get some fresh air. She went back eating a slab of salmon hermusher had given her. She wondered that if she ever had pups what would they look like. She sighs, she walks bak to her corner, lies down and goes to sleep. | Nero | Wheels | Tundra's paws | This was it, a new race was coming up and by the way the humans were acting it seemed like it was a big one and as much as he was excited to run, he was nervous. So many dangers and scenarios were running through his mind and each one made him tremble a little more. That wasn't to say he wasn't determined and he knew he needed to stop being such a baby, he didn't want anyone to get hurt. There were two other teams that he could see, being separated from the other dogs. They didn't seem that nervous but they had to be, or so he thought. They all knew it was a risk but it was a risk he was willing to take. The feeling of winning was always better than the anxiety and it was worth it in the end. Nero's ears flicked at every little sound, he knew he should rest but he couldn't sit still. At first he tried to lay down, get himself comfortable and maybe sleep the nerves off but he couldn't. He couldn't keep himself still or get comfortable in the slightest. Nero did whatever he could and laid in so many positions that he started to grow frustrated with himself. With a huff the large male heaved himself off the ground and instead just started walking around and pacing, trying anything to keep himself busy. Estelle always managed to calm him down but he didn't want to bother her, she was always calm and he didn't want his nerves to rub off on anyone.

Eska [Eska leg moved some of the straw bedding as she tried to get comfortable. She could feel Rosemar's gaze. Eska glanced at the rest of her team to calm her mind. The thought of something happening to anyone on her team pained her. So much could go wrong out on the track, so much could happen. The thoughts danced through her mind as she peered out as the snow lightly falling outside. Eska took a second just wishing she was outside to bein the snow.]
Rosemar [Rosemar startled herself when a large chip came off the bone without warning. She set the bone at her paws as she glanced over at Morpheus. "Why are you whining?" She asked, her tone wasn't empathetic as if she was worried something was wrong, it did not have a linger of curiosity, just a dead tone of a comment. Rosemar kept her gaze on the other dog for a couple moments before looking down at the bone and biting it once more. Rosemar's tail moved some of the scattered bedding as she brought it closer to her hind legs.] Edited at April 21, 2023 09:54 AM by Spider Bat

Morpheus | Darkshade Wheel | 5 years old | Utonagan - Morpheus stared at Rosemar knawing at her bone, lifting his head, yawning and licking his chops with disinterest. "Whatever has got your nerves so high-strung, drop it. It's damn near impossible to relax with all that scraping going on. Besides, you're making some of the other dogs nervous." He stretched his paws forward and tensed his back, still in the lying position, to let his large back release the built up pressure. Once he heard a satisfying pop and the heaviness in his spine released, he rested his head on his paws again, tilting it slightly while staring at Rosemar with half-opened, disinterested eyes. His tail flicked a few times here-and-there, but not from excitement or joy, more irritation and his own slight restlessness. He'd never admit it, but the wait for the race is affecting even him slightly. Edited at April 21, 2023 11:29 AM by The Song of Achilles

Laika woke with a start as the bone Rosmar was chewing snapped in half. Though it startled her very bad, Laika affectionately thought oh Rosemar and went back to sleep. Edited at April 21, 2023 06:27 PM by SilverMountain

Let's leave him to rest for a bit."| *"Fhooey..." Why does Timber always say to leave Hunter alone? I want to play with them and play Hide-n-seek!* | I love you Holly, but sometimes we don't want to play... Timber smlies softly at Holly, who was batting at Hunter's tail.|

Yéil Khyda | Raven, Rav | Musher | Tundra's Paw | M: Tundra's Paw(ind), Nero(dir), Arthur(dir) Raven finished signing up for the race, her heart pounding. Today was the day. She had been hearing about this race for a while now and it was finally here. She wasn't entirely sure if she was ready but she wasn't backing down now. Her team could do it. They were strong and not easily distracted. Her leads would be able to keep them in line anyway. Raven made her way out of the sign-up room, heading down the hall. She had left her team in the designated barn although she was a bit nervous how they were doing.
Granted, she was always nervous on how her dogs were doing. Hopefully, they were resting and saving their energy. She decided to go ahead and check on them before getting some rest herself. Walking out the inn's doors, she let the breeze drift through her hair for a moment, enjoying the cool air. She didn't have her mushing clothes on right now, not much need for them. Having grown up in the cold country, she was used to the slight chills it brought. Raven had on her isolator jacket, mainly keeping herself warm as she checked on her stuff.
Going over to her sled, she made sure the harnesses were in place and untangled, ready for the dogs in said order. She went over the list in her bag once more. Snow shoes, food for the dogs, a small sleeping bag in case they got stuck in the snow, water bottles, and a safety/first aid kit. She would finish inventory before the race tomorrow but she had a good feeling that she had everything together. Raven looked back to the sky, watching it for a minute before heading towards the barn.
After opening the door, her eyes scanned the pens before landing on the one she left her dogs in. Closing the door behind her, she walked over only to see Nero pacing the front. Raven shook her head before slipping inside, running a hand down Nero's side. "Look who's perked up. The race is tomorrow which means you need to get some sleep." She said quietly in a soothing voice, hoping to calm him down a little bit. She walked around the pen, greeting each dog with either a pat on the back or a scratch behind the ears.
Raven got to the back of the pen where she found Arthur by himself. She gave a gentle smile, scratching behind his ears with a gentle tone, "I'm glad one of you is getting some rest. Maybe you can calm Nero down a bit." She knew the dogs couldn't understand her other than their training words but she spoke to them all the same. Giving Arthur one last scratch behind his ears, she headed back to the pen door where she said, "All of you get some sleep now. We have a big day tomorrow."
Raven slipped out before any of the dogs could nose past her. Once she knew the door was securely shut, she headed out of the barn, being careful to shut that door behind her too. No need for the dogs to be cold tonight. Heading back inside, she gave the secretary a friendly wave before heading to her room. It wasn't first class but she was used to that. Besides, as long as it had some food, water and a bed, she was a happy camper.
Eating a granola bar since she wasn't very hungry, she watched out the window wondering how the weather would be the first day. Once finished, she took a shower and got ready for bed. For a half hour, she stared at the ceiling hoping everything would be okay with the dogs for the night. Finally, she fell into a dreamless sleep.

Phoenix walked across the parameter of the pen. Breathe. Breathe. Breathe. You're still riled up from training, best to scout the competiton first. Phoenix turned his anxious activity to something more focused, breathing evenly, making sure to loosen his body language into something more relaxed. He glanced over to his teammates, his eyes falling to his fellow lead dog, Banshee. Interesting, I need to find more about her, a team is only as strong as their leaders. His attention moved to the swings, Cheif, he's as old as me, though more of a loose canon towards other teams, loyal though. Worth talking too. Zian, seems to have potential, and is loyal to the team, though, having a litermate on another team could lead to issuses. Find where his loyalties lay. The team dogs now, Solstice, needs to be lifted up, and shapened into a competitor. Timid. Hunter, Holly, and Timber, three silbings, the two brothers are queit yet hardworking, their sister talks for them, she has potential for a lead poistion. The two wheels, Morpheus, though prickley, he seems loyal, and compassionate, able to calm others down. Interesting. Rosemar, hardworking but senstive to noise, she seems to tense when around a particular other team's dog. I can use that to an advantage. Phoenix catalouges the information into his mind for later. Phoenix would join his teammate's later, for now he turned his attention to the other teams. His intense brown eyes staring into each and every other dog's eyes, like a hawk stalking a mouse. This is the moment to scare the other teams, make them frieghtened of you. Phoenix finally turned towards his teammates, approaching with confidence but a measured aloofness. "How is everyone"? It was more of a demand than a question, it left no room to not answer. His voice hushed, queiter than normal "Do be queit, the other team's ears are wide open to our weaknesses".
