Depending on your age is how you should go about it in my opinion. Like 3 years tells me you are probably a good age to potentially get a longer lasting relationship that hopefully lasts all your life. But I'm no expert,.
I've already said it, but do what you want. And to be extra sure you could kind of make newer friends if you want to and make sure it's just for him, but I think it is.

Since you do have only him, if there was any flaw you'd likely have seen it way before now. If his friend goup is limited it's more likely for him to like you but anyway

A: Ehh, I take meds to help me sleep but I have PTSD so I say I don't get very restful sleep

A: Owls don't have eyeballs. Just eye tubes. Sit with that for a minute
