| @Nux Okay, thank you. There's also the fact that my grandma (who is still able to walk, run, etc. despite her age), is also a member of the household, and maybe that would be a good way to keep us safe should anything happen, God forbid. |

| Nux we have a 4 year old german shepard husky mix(he's a rescue) and we're starting training soon for obedience training with the eventual goal of protection training for that same reason. Our neighborhood isn't safe and with being such a high energy breed he needs walks but I don't feel comfortable walking him alone, I'm his main caretaker since I'm home most days of the week while my mother in law and partner work. I'm really excited for his training, I know he will benefit so much from frequent walks and even just the work it takes to get trained. He's a super smart boy. |

| Kitten I... don't know on that one. See the problem is protection training can create a reactive dog. With anxiety in that sense, you'll want to work through it with therapy first and then--after you have done your best in that sense, looking toward having a dog. I would honestly do a lot of research in this area rather than asking WP chat, honestly. |

| Kitten If you get antsy and uneasy in your neighborhood, I'd suggest protection and obedience training, because dogs can feed off of your emotions, and it may act irrational and uncharacteristically because it senses your unease. |

| I have an english bulldog, a french bulldog, and an american bully. I don't have to worry about the whole "high energy" thing. |

| @Zeraphia Perhaps I should have clarified when I said content. I meant that I'm willing to put in work, get antsy when I have nothing to do, so a GSD would be perfect to spend time with and play with, I just meant that no one ever really comes around, yet I live in a fairly unpredictable neighborhood and can get anxious when around others. |

| Kitten If you don't have the energy to take care of a high-energy dog, I'd suggest just not getting one. Agility training would be the best but then you run the risk of them escaping. Not to mention the coat care that you have to keep track of, vet bills and such. Honestly, I'd look at a different dog that will fit your lifestyle better. |
