Calliope frowned for a moment at his words. She knew parents were harsh, but it was hard to cope with the sound of his father being so... stoic. Calliope managed to crack a smile as he said he couldn't promise no drama before pulling out her chair for her. "Thank you. One can simply hope for the best," she said softly as she sat down. Calliope felt as though she was dying in the thickness of silence, her hands fidgeting in her lap beneath the table. She snuck a glance over at Calen, a soft smile placing itself on her face as food was being brought out to them by servents. Oh what fun this luncheon would be. |

Calen noticed Calliope's figeting hands, how impatient she looked. The silence was too loud as his father glanced down at him before piling food onto his plate. His mother followed him, then Calen finally started piling heaps of food on his plate. He always coincidentally forgot to eat at times, and whenever he actually remembered to eat, his sister always teased him afterward for 'eating more than a pig'. "Did you finish giving Princess Calliope a tour of the castle, Calen?" His father asked. Calen merely nodded, not looking up from his plate. "Are you settling in well, Dear? Is there anything we can get you?" His mother asked, her face plastered with a pleasant smile. (Sorry for disappearing) |

(You're fine! I've been decently absent myself) Calliope had started to relax as they'd began to help themselves to the food that had been set out on the table. She followed in suit along side Calen, gathering a bit of food onto her plate. She never ate much, but she insured she'd gotten enough as to not seem rude. That was the last thing she wanted her parents to hear about.
Calliope looked to his parents when they spoke, his fathers voice sending shivers down her spine. What an intimidating man... A smile graced her lips at his mothers question and she nodded. "I am, thank you. I promise I have everything I need," she said sweetly, her anxious demeanor seeming to disappear in an instant. "I cannot thank you all enough for having me," she reiterated before her eyes fell to her plate, her soft smile remaining. |

Calen ate as politely as he could while still eating quickly, faintly listening to the conversation going on. He never failed to be impressed with Calliope's skills in masks. She lied and deceived like it was a second nature. Her anxious fidgeting from a few moments ago disappeared entirely, replaced by a cool, collected attitude, that didn't leave her face even when she was finished speaking. "Wonderful, it is lovely to have you here with us." His mother said, a sweet smile on her lips. "And if you ever get bored, feel free to visit myself or Justine, we would be happy to provide some entertainment." Calen scoffed inwardly at that. His mother's idea of 'entertainment' was mostly gossiping and going to theaters, or shopping for new obnoxious dresses. Justine stayed quiet, not looking up from her food. Her face was plastered with a small smile, but it didn't reach her eyes. Had what he said really affected her that much? |

Calliope's gaze flitted to Justine, who smiled but didn't necessarily seem pleased. She wondered what might be wrong, but then again she didn't know his sister well enough to be comfortable with intruding on her thoughts. "Oh, of course! I'm sure I'll make a much needed visit sooner or later," she replied before falling silent. Liar. She knew that her definition of entertainment was much different than most women's. She wasn't a gossip and she much preferred to be outside rather in, but she knew she'd have to make herself spend time with them eventually as to not be rude. |

Calen glanced at Calliope from the corner of his eye, wondering if she truly meant what she said or not. The rest of the luncheon was nearly silent, save for the few questions asked by his mother and father. Calen was silent the whole time, finishing his food quickly and going back for seconds. The luncheon ended promptly, and Calen and Calliope were left alone in the dining hall as everyone else left. Calen pushed his chair back and stood. "Well, that was relatively painless." |

Calliope was dying on the inside nearly the whole luncheon,while on the outside she was just as polite as could be. She'd responded to his parents questions, asking few of her own in means of idle conversation. As she'd finished what was on her plate, she refrained from eating more since she was already quite full. Calliope felt as she could breathe once more when she and Calen were alone. She stood up, pushing her chair back to the table once she'd moved. "Indeed. One could only hope that this whole ordeal goes just as well," she hummed,smoothing her gown down before looking up at Calen. |

"It probably won't." He said with a shrug as he looked around the empty dining hall. His father hadn't instructed him to do anything else with Calluope for today, but he felt bad leaving her alone since she just got here. "I have to get to training, but you're more than welcome to come with me. But you don't have to, I don't know how well versed you are in weapons." He said without thinking. "It's not necessarily customary for women to fight but I'm sure my father wouldn't object." He added, turning towards the door. |

Calliope didn't want to be alone, nor did she want to feel like she had to go visit his mother or sister at the time. "I would love to come, actually," she smiled, heading towards the door as well. "One could say I dabble with weapons," she added, shaking her head. She wasn't anywhere near as good with a sword as she was her bow, but she was no novice. Her mother hadn't been thrilled with her learning to fight, but her father had reasoned with her, saying that it would be good for her to learn how to protect herself, God forbid anything ever happened in their kingdom. |

Calen smirked at her answer, "Oh yeah? Well I'll see if I can knock that confidence down a few pegs." He said, heading in the direction of his room. "I need to change then we can head down, I'm assuming you need to as well, unless you wish to get your ass kicked in a dress." He said as they walked up the stairs, getting to his door. |
