As Skylar stood (sat, I have no clue what he's doing) there, his heart sunk from the words being spoken about him. In a way he felt ashamed, he didn't want to go down the path of substance abuse or being a criminal. He put his head down, shaking it slightly. He managed to calm his nerves but he did shake ever so slightly. He took a glance at the one man, again. This time he kept his eyes near him, glancing at him every once in a while. He then continued to listen to the people that were talking, although he felt it was very hard to keep concentration.

The judge and the two sides spoke some more between them before the judge noticed Skylar glancing at Jake. "Officer Gatsby," the judge says, which makes Jake stand taller. "Yes your honor," Jake asks as his gaze goes up to the judge. "I understand you are the officer that brought this man in and has been taking care of him over the last couple hours," the judge states. Jake of course replies, "Yes your honor," as he takes a quick glance over at Skylar before looking back at the judge. "Well perhaps you could explain to us how this man acts since you have been around him more?" the judge asks Jake. Jake pauses for a moment before nodding and answering, "Well your honor this man is very well behaved. He hasn't caused me or any of the other officers any harm while he has been here. He is very quiet and mostly stayed on the bed provided in his cell most of the time. He did talk to me a bit about how he regretted his actions and how some of his friends burned down the other churches."

Skylar intently listened to Officer Gatsby speak, nodding ever so slightly. He then turns his attention to the judge, he thought he had been staring at the man for too long. He looked down but faced the judge, waiting to be called on if he would even call on him. He waited as they kept talking. "Okay, now Skylar, who were these friends of yours." The judge said. Skylar then named all three of his friends that were involved. He shook his head subtly, hating that he was being a snitch. He then looked up at the judge then took a glance at Officer Gatsby. He then stood up straight and took a deep breathe, knowing he was probably going to be okay.

Jake stepped back against the wall as he was done being spoken to. His attention returns to Skylar as the judge asked him who his friends were and Jake could tell Skylar was upset about saying the names. -It's to protect himself though,- Jake thinks, -now he won't get as bad of punishment.- His gaze moves to the judge as he steps out of the room to decide his answer. He watches the door for the minutes that the judge is gone until he returns to announce his verdict.

Skylar waited anxiously as the judge stepped out. Once he returned, all of Sky's attention was on him. "We will have you do community work if you can't pay the fine." The judge spoke. "Your honor, I can pay the fine." Skylar replied. "Well then it's set, You will pay the fine." The judge said. He then hit his little desk thing and then everyone stood up and started to get out of the room. Well its over and I'm getting out of this shit hole, Skylar thought as he walked beside Officer Gastby.

Once the judge had dismissed the case Jake stepped forward and lead Skylar out of the room. When they were away from everyone he asks, "Can you pay the fine? It is a decent amount of money you know." He lead Skylar to a separate room where he was seated at a desk and could put in his information to pay the fine, which the amount was also displayed in front of him. Jake watched him with calm eyes and waited until he was either done or had a question to ask.

Sky followed Officer Gastby as he led him to a desk. "I think I'll be fine, it is a lot but I do have enough." Sky replied, knowing it would very well drain his bank around right out. He looked at the paper and sighed. He then filled out any information he had to and then paid the fine. He then looked at the man, smiling ever so slightly. He then looked back at the papers, frowning a bit. Well, this is probably the last time I'll see this very handsome officer.

Once Jake saw that Skylar had finished the papers he picked them up and took them to the door and knocked on it. A man appeared and took the papers with a polite "Thank you," before closing it again. Jake then turned back to Skylar and says, "I would imagine you would like to get out of here now." He had to admit that he was kind of sad to see him go, as he had enjoyed talking to Skylar, but at the same time was happy to have him be leaving to go fix his life.

As Skylar started to leave, he turned back around. "could I maybe-" He paused, "have your number?" Sky asked shyly. He knew it was kind of weird but he might as well take his chances. Who knows, he could never see this man ever again. Sky then waited nervously, playing with his hands. He looked up at the officer when he realized he doesn't even know his name. "oh and what's your name?" He then asked. He knew he's heard it but it never clicked in his head.

At Skylar's question, Jake smiled kindly and with a bit of happiness. "Sure," he says and pulls his phone out of his pocket. He then unlocks it and shows his number, that was now being shown on the screen, to Skylar. "I'm Jake," he says once Skylar had typed his number in. He then pauses a moment before adding, "I hope to see you again Skylar. Hopefully next time with me not having to arrest you."
