Yep :) Exploring the town and visiting shops do not change the time. The only thing that triggers change is using an item: trading it in a shop or using it when prompted. Just as a simplified way of managing the time these actions would take.

After this post it may be a while before I can respond. I will post when I am online and you are welcome to respond whenever you can. Midnight: You hitch up your horse to a post and dismount from your wagon. You wander through town, familiarizing yourself with its shops and people. Everyone seems very friendly, offering a wave and a smile. You enter Rusty's Antiques and Grocery. A small bell dings as you open the door. A man smiles at you from behind the counter, which faces the door. "Welcome, Stranger," he says, and you assume he must be Rusty. "What you got out there?" He asks, pointing towards your horse, "and ya looking to trade?" Youre a little surprised that he's already to that point, but something about his bright eyes makes you feel like he already knows what you have. You nod "Scrap metal?" He asks. You blink, curious that he knew. Standard inventory: Bandages, baseball, collectible stamps, fish fossil, one day’s worth of dried food, pickaxe, rope, scrap metal, spare boots, spare wagon wheel Traded inventory: currently empty Time and Day: morning, day 1/7 Current available actions: 1. Leave Rusty's shop and visit a location on the map. 2. Offer to trade your scrap metal. 3. Ask if he has interest in anything else you have.

Midnight: "I... might," you say, running your hand over the back of your neck. "But.. is there anything else you're looking for?" Rusty grunts. His thick frame shifts, and he turns around. You try to see over is shoulder, but his broad red beard fills your view. He runs his hand over a shelf, removing some dust, and his fingertips graze metal bits and glass jars. They jingle.
"You have a pickax too." He turns back to you with a crooked grin, bubbly nose twitching. "Uh!" You exclaim, eyes swimming around the room, trying not to make contact with his. You swallow hard. "Look, I.." Rusty lets out a deep, rumbling laugh, red hair bouncing.
"I do that to every traveler that comes through, don't worry yourself. You look terrible. Here, yeah, come 'ere, I'll show you." Cautiously, you lean forward, and he told up a thin metal pipe. He shows you how to use it and you follow, lifting it to your eye. It's a telescope! Through it, you see into your wagon and all your stuff. "I looked at your wagon before you even walked it. Got an idea of what you had. Those are both good things and I think I could resell them. How about a trade?" Standard inventory: Bandages, baseball, collectible stamps, fish fossil, one day’s worth of dried food, pickaxe, rope, scrap metal, spare boots, spare wagon wheel Traded inventory: currently empty Time and Day: morning, day 1/7 Current available actions: 1. Leave Rusty's shop and visit a location on the map. 2. Offer to trade your scrap metal. 3. Offer to trade your pickaxe. 4. Ask if he has interest in anything else you have. Trading items must be done one at a time since this is how time is kept. If you wish to trade more than one item in the morning, you can make one trade, time will change, and you can make the next. If you wish to trade in the afternoon, you must make one trade and wait for the night to pass before you can make another. Edited at November 20, 2023 08:47 PM by Wolves of Kirsuk

The Midnight Howlers said: Okay, but I don't know what he has, but if he has something I want than I will trade my Scrap Metal.
Trading here works by you offering one of your items; after that the townperson will give you an item that will go in your traded inventory. All of these items can be directly traded for frogs at the end. You will get either a common, rare, or legendary item based on chance, which directly relates to the kind of frog you can get from that item. You don't know rarity before you trade.

Midnight: m "Alright, I'll give you the scrap metal. You got people who will buy that kind of thing?" you ask. m After chatting with Rusty for a while, enjoying yourself now that you aren't worried about him having psychic powers to get into your mind, you mention the scrap metal again and get back on topic. You bring out three flat sheets and some rusty nails from your wagon, and make a trade. m "Here you go, and thank you Traveler," says Rusty, "I got this from a crafty man journeying through here, just like yourself." m You have gained 1 common paper hat! m mmmmmmm Standard inventory: Bandages, baseball, collectible stamps, fish fossil, one day’s worth of dried food, rope, spare boots, spare wagon wheel m Traded inventory: 1 paper hat (common) m Time and Day: afternoon, day 1/7 m Current available actions: 1. Leave Rusty's shop and visit a location on the map. 2. Offer to trade your pickaxe. 3. Ask if he has interest in anything else you have. Edited at November 21, 2023 03:27 PM by Wolves of Kirsuk
