They're DEFINITELY going to need a car for that, then. If they don't have one in the beginning, they can probably go looting for one and maybe go on a side quest to get all the stuff needed to repair it.

What's the average distance they should cover a day?

Yeah, that'd be a good idea-- Like, seriously, this journey gonna be long-long...

On the US-20 W, the distance is around 3,200 miles. Because the group is likely to backtrack a lot and, y'know, ~shit happens~, I'll add an extra 1,500 miles. That'd make the whole trip approximately 4,700 miles. It takes around 14 days to travel 1000 miles (comfortable walking speed is 3 mph. 1000 m / 3 mph would be, like, 333 hours and 20 minutes), but that's nonstop. Considering how people need to sleep, we'd have to double that, so 28 days it is. Because of plot shit, let's just make it 2 months per 1000 miles. With that in mind, it'll take close to a year, maybe even more, to get to Maine. Now, to actually answer your question, let's say the group gets up and starts walking at around 6:30 AM on average and they start settling down at around 6:30 PM—twelve hours. So, 3 x 12 = 36 miles a day. Which is impossible. So, the average distance that they can cover per day would have to be somewhere between 5-12 miles, which will triple/quadruple/quintuple the time it'll take to get to their destination— And that's not even taking into account the shit they'll encounter along the way :')
It gon' be a looooooong trip, even if my math is all wrong.
Edit: of course, this is on the assumption that the group will only travel by foot the whole way. They'll probably find a car at some point and get it working. Edited at September 5, 2021 03:47 PM by ASomeonePerson

I think the thing about them finding a car is that they have eight people total, nine or ten if we include the late PM people, so either it's going to get really cramped or they're going to have to get a bigger car or truck.

They can stash her in the trunk, lol- I added a little bit more to Aurora's unique abilities on her character sheet, btw. Just cause I felt she was lacking in the section.
