WAIT. What continent is NZ part of-- Oceania is a geographical region, not a continent, so it's not that,, and you're right, you're not part of the Australian continent either.
Okay, so, I'm googling this and you are straight up on your own micro contintent, Zealandia/Te Riu-a-Māui. Zealandia/Te Riu-a-Māui is the world's 8th continent and I had,,, no idea it existed! This is news to me.
