Do you guys have any backstory tips, things you like to do to make your backstories better? How do you pace revealing them? I always work too hard on my backstories, am never satisfied with them, and never have enough time to really delve into them. Just curious how you handle this. I know we've discussed backstory a bit, but out of around 200 pages I can't seem to find that discussion.

Your backstories are awesome. I normally don't do them so anything is better than mine. That being said (since I doubt I will be much help) I normally start with youth. If there were important events I mention them and basically I do things in chronological order. Nothing special. I bet mine often jump around and the pacing is wack.

I think I would be more helpful if I critiqued a few character's backstories and see if you have similar reoccuring problems. I really don't have tips.

Here's a question: Have you guys ever been tempted to join a low semi-literate RP of one liners to about a paragraph, and then write something of a 1,000 word essay for your character response? Just to see what would happen? Edited at September 23, 2020 08:21 AM by Autumn Bound
