I think it also depends on the shifter and who's playing the character. I have a brand new wolf shifter character... and like... the least amount of edgy you can think of barring his grey scale design.
but I do have to agree. The plots just... just all run together. I tried to break the school one with a fallen school / run to safety and that died prettty quickly.

I had a wolf shifter once (but it wasn't really my choice) who was pretty non-edgy. Just a judgemental older man who took way too much stock in traditions. I loved playing him.
