Beat was originally a scientific experiment, trying to create an animal that could show its heart rate, later hoping to use it as a tenporary management tool for patients. Everything went wrong, Beat went haywire. Every one of her actions went to the beat of her heart, and her heart was sporadic. (Basically, she would die and then come back to life sometimes, and then be really hyper others.) They released this mad beast, not knowing what else to do.
