Marduk Seĸineĸ

▕▁▁▁▁▁▁▵▁▁▁▁▁▁▏

Age: 241

Gender: Masculine
Role: Original

Class: Solar

[I have asked Imp about this power and received approval]

Rider: Anatolious [Spellbound]

Appearance: [credit goes to Topolok on TH]

Upon first glance, it is clear that Marduk Seĸineĸ is an imposing male. Standing at 21 feet tall with a length of over double that, Marduk is by no means a small creature. With a rather odd physique that ranges from broad and sinewy to lithe, his appearance is indeed a peculiar one.

Upon his head sits a crown of horns and spikes. Able to retract at will, these adornments are akin to the dorsal fin of a predatory fish. These horns of his, as well as the webbing between them, allow him to fly both easier and swifter, whilst also providing his head protection. Marduk has two main horns that cannot move like the others. These horns resemble that of antlers, and create a crescent that ranges from his forehead, to the tip of his muzzle. These protect his eyes, as well as face, from any attacks.

Between these horns of his, a sphere sits. This sphere remains floating between his horns and is severely hot to the touch, as well as often ablaze.

In terms of his facial colouration, it's a bright red. The only difference in colouration being a black that sits over his eyes, almost resembling a bandit mask. The remainder of his body is a simple white and black, with his underside being predominately white, and his backside being dominated by black. It isn't until his tail do his white spikes transform into red ones, and finally, orange to resemble fire. The same could be said for his wings, the webbing being coloured like fire.

His wings are perhaps his most breathtaking feature. Spanning wide, they unfurl with elegance, revealing a display of reds and oranges. It's not just the colour that captivates, it's what lies at the tips of his wings that truly sets him apart. The ends of his wings are ablaze with fire, the flames dancing and twisting around as he flies. The same may be said for his tail.

The scales surrounding his body are thick and small to the point where they are difficult to espy from a distance. In addition, he has spikes beneath his tail and near his throat, protecting the softer areas from attacks.

Personality:
Snarky || Strategic || Devious || Hot-Tempered || Sneaky || Possessive || Articulate || Suave || Debonair || Sophisticated || Punctual and Resourceful || Sometimes Coarse || Fiery || Easily Envious

This male has a plethora of traits that makes him a rather.. difficult individual. For one, he exudes an aura of sophistication and debonair charm, allowing him to navigate social interactions in an articulate manner. He is friendly enough upon meeting, though one should still remain cautious around him, for if one thing is for certain, Marduk Seĸineĸ has a temper.

Beneath his polished exterior, he has a cunning and devious mind, constantly scheming and strategizing. If it serves his purposes, he doesn't shy away from manipulation or trickery, and uses his sneaky nature to outmaneuver his adversaries. Not to mention, his hot-tempered nature is as fiery as the flames that adorn his wings, erupting with a ferocity that can be both intimidating and destructive. Marduk Seĸineĸ is not a calm nor collected individual. Rather, the smallest things get on his nerves.

In addition, he is possessive, fiercely guarding that which he holds dear. After all, he is a dragon, it makes sense that he has his own little trinkets and whatnot. If others touch said items? Marduk's envy appears, to which a more feral, wild side of the male is presented. He is also incredibly sassy, always snapping something back in return, or matching an insult with his own unique one.

Regardless of his rather.. interesting manners, if one thing is for certain, Marduk does take things seriously when needed. He is always punctual and resourceful and understands when to put pettiness and anger aside. He is also rather loyal, despite not acting like it. He may insult another, claim his distaste for them, and yet, if needed, will jump to their aid when needed. Marduk may be cruel at times, but even he has his limits.

Abilities:
Solar Fire Manipulation
The ability to generate, shape, and manipulate solar fire. The fire itself can vary in temperature (see temperature control), which he can alternate. The same goes for size and intensity, which can be adjusted accordingly. This is similar to fire manipulation, the only difference being that he obtains his energy from the sun. Lack of sun, such as during the night, renders him near powerless unless some is stored/absorbed earlier.

i. Temperature Control
Able to change the temperature of fire produced, the power itself is fairly self-explanatory. From shades of red, blue, purple, and whites, he is able to increase or decrease the heat of his flame. Not only is he able to produce this via his fire breath, but also from his body to the point where he may be engulfed in flame. This shields him from any physical attacks.

Solar Teleportation
Able to teleport via sun beams, he is able to merge himself and appear anywhere else from the same element. The size of the beam or light source doesn't matter, so long as it's light from the sun. This provides him a rapid escape.

i. Pyrokinetic Invisibility
Similar to fire teleportation, he is able to become invisible when in/touching sun beams for a short period of time, his body engulfing in the flame. However, the light must be large enough to cover his entire body, else it won't work.

Solar Healing
Self-explanatory, he is able to heal himself using solar heat and energy. He is only able to do this due to his affinity with the sun, and is not able to heal others. Additionally, it takes time for himself to heal. The smaller the wound, the faster the healing. Not to mention, he cannot heal himself at night, while in cloudy weather, since UV rays can still peek through, he can heal, but much slower.

Nova Flame
Used most often in defense, he has the ability to create a miniature supernova around himself. This supernova is extremely high temperature-wise, as well as blinding. It is created when he must make a rapid escape, momentarily stun enemies, or to force an increase in distance between himself and others.

- Rocky terrain
- Flight speed
- Good defense and offense

Weaknesses:

Felt like I should bring back a certain stormy boy~

Name:

Styrmir

Meaning “To Storm”

Nicknames:

Styr

Lightning Rod

Age:

58

Gender:

Male

Role:

Rookie Dragon

Class:

The Thundering Storm Class

Rider:

Solveig Stormborn

Appearance:

Styrmir’s body plan is not one of beauty or fancy appearances. Though, it may appear that way to some. Rather, it is one of practicality – giving rhyme and reason to each and every of his aspects and abilities. Strictly designed to increase his chances of survival. To begin, it should be noted that this male is one the larger side of young adult dragons. The distance from the ground to his shoulder alone is fifteen feet, with his powerful and narrow neck adding another four feet on top of that. In total, he stands at a full height of nineteen feet. For horizontal length, his body is only a mere ten feet. His tail, however, adds another fourteen feet to his form. Thus, earning him a modest twenty-four feet in length.

The actual build of his body is slick, streamline, and muscular – made for speed and long distance flights. He harbors a huge and broad chest to support such flights. Then again considering the wings it has to provide strength for, it is of no surprise. That long tail of his takes after the streamline aspects of his body, being quite thin and whip-like. It does not long after separating from his main body for his tail to become like this. And this whip-like nature is not just for looks. When threatened, he will use his tail as an actual whip which can either be used for intimidation (with the sound it makes) or physical attacks. This attack does do a lot of damage if it lands in the right spot, and is decently difficult to dodge. In terms of legs, he’s only got two. Both of these hind legs are fit with short, sharp, and hook-like claws – designed for gripping onto the sides of mountain cliffs… or prey. It really just depends. Sprouting from his back are long spines that are sharp to the point and, oddly enough, lay flat along his back. They are decently spaced out, with only the tips of each coming into contact with the next spine. These spikes can be seen from the top of his head, all the way down to the connection between his rump and tail. The spines slowly decrease in size towards the end of his back, and are much smaller upon reaching the tail. They quickly disappear once the descent down the tail starts. Due to their downward appearance, one may assume that these spines are completely useless. This couldn’t be further from the truth. The large male has the ability to raise and lower these spines – either having them lain flat against his back or stick straight up. The change of their positions can happen in the blink of an eye. These spines are also naturally laced with highly conductive metals, making it a sort of lightning rod. Upon coming into contact with electricity, the spines will begin to rattle and spread electricity throughout his entire form.

The male’s wings are a story all on their own, and his most important attribute. There are four in total – two lower ones used for minor adjustments in the air and an upper pair that is used for major corrections and is the main force behind his takeoff. These wings are bat-like in nature, with the wing membranes being separated from one another by fingers. At the wing joint, two finger-like appendages can be seen on both of the larger wings. These appendages end in a medium sized hooked claw, built for gripping and slicing. The – for lack of a better term – hooks are used for walking, acting as his front pair of legs, and literally hooking onto sheer cliffs. The constant usage of his larger wings (both in the air and on the ground) have caused them to accumulate a considerable amount of muscle. The size of these wings varies. The upper wings are considerably larger than the bottom ones (in length and width), and carry a wingspan of fifty-six feet. The lower ones only have a wingspan of fifty-two feet. The most interesting part about them, however, is the pattern of the membranes. The membranes of the wings seem to copy the pattern of storm clouds – not in terms of physical shape, but of patterns. This provides for a very unique form of camouflage that is not often seen in animals.

The thundering male’s head is quite fluid in structure, not having many sharp edges or turns to it. Each and every one of his curves – especially the cheeks – are smooth in appearance. The particular shape of his head does not really follow the design of any one reptile, more so being the stereotypical dragon-like skull. The skull is also incredibly thick as to prevent brain damage if he were to crash into something at high speeds. Extending from the top of his skull are two metal laced horns. These horns are decently sized, being around 9 inches in length. They are curvy – starting in an upwards motion, then dipping down, and finally going back up shortly to end in a point which is level with the start of the horn. Sitting between these two horns (right where his neck and head meet) is yet another metal laced spine. However, this one is of utmost importance. This spine – upon standing – angles itself in such a way that it slightly exceeds the highest point of his horn (by much less than an inch). Upon beginning to rattle his spines, this one in particular will bang against the horns on either of its sides. This motion, in turn, creates the male’s lightning! Though, it should be noted that this is not a necessary action for his male to harbor all of his lightning. Only certain abilities are affected. The snout of this dragon is decently long and narrow. Streamline, if you will. The top half ends in a slight curve that rests overtop of the bottom jaw. Not in any way a beak, but it can be viewed as beak shaped. Resting on top of his snout is a short and harshly curved nose horn. The purpose of this horn is unknown, but it does appear to have the same conductive properties as his spines. His teeth are all inside of his maw (always covered by his lips) and inward facing. Sort of like those of a monitor lizard or snake. The eyes of this being are almost cat-like in nature, with sharp pupils that can narrow considerably when taking an intimidating stance or attacking. These eyes also have two different types of eyelids – the usual outer layer, and one that is applied during flight to both protect the eyes and grant him a “bonus.” The extra application of this second layer is used to allow him to see through clouds, within a certain radius of course. The radius extends around three to five feet from him in all directions.

The scales of this stormy beast are a dark and somewhat dull shade of indigo – pretty but still designed to blend in well with dark storm clouds. Despite its purplish-blue tone, it is actually quite difficult to spot when he is in the clouds. As though he were becoming the clouds himself. The membranes of his wings (as mentioned before) turn this idea into a reality… well, a reality of mimicry, but still. As mentioned before, these membranes carry the pattern of storm clouds – looking as if they had literally been painted on. Naturally, these are various shades of gray, though none light. Some shading can even be seen amongst the cloud shapes as well. But, he takes it a step further. Scattered among the false clouds are various “skinny” lines that take on a shade of gray that is just a hair lighter than the gray backdrop, and are easy to miss… That is, when not in use. These patterns are actually in the shape of lightning bolts, and they flash just like actual lightning does. Taking mimicry to a whole new level. These markings light up either at will (for mimicking) or involuntarily. The involuntary part of this glow only occurs when he is using his abilities. Short and natural looking flashes will occur for his quick blasts. For his charged attacks, however, these markings will hold a sustained glow for as long as he charges and breathes. Almost like a warning. The flashes are natural electric blue in color – incredibly pale and bright. More lightning-like patterns can be found going down his spine and extending outwards. They normally take on a light shade of indigo, but will glow for extended periods when he is using his “storm casting” ability. Again, almost as though it is giving those around warning. The underbelly scales take on a darkish, metallic gray sort of complexion. As do his horns and spines which are darker than his underbelly. But, despite their appearance, these underbelly scales are still soft and weak. The eyes of this dragon are his most – and, likely, only – striking feature. They are a bright shade of electric blue which can be rather piercing when combined with the right emotion.

Styrmir’s voice takes electricity to a whole new level. It sounds as though it is filled with literal static, and can be a bit grinding on the ears. The amount of static changes with his emotion – raising for anger and excitement while lowering for sadness and content for example. This static goes absolutely wild when he is amused, wavering like no tomorrow. The pitch of his voice is what some would call “medium” for males, and leaning towards the lower side. However, it has been known to change rapidly when his body is electrified. His voice almost always carries a dark tone to its words, even when experiencing more “positive” emotions. It can be hard to know what he is actually feeling because of this, even with the static.

The roars of this beast are one of his most defining features. They are an interesting combination of animal, nature, and a hint of some other elements. There are five main calls: broadcast, friendly or comforting, threaten, frightened, and victorious. The broadcast is a bellowing sound, filled with crackling static and what most would describe as wavering audio pitch. The “friendly” call is a soft purr-like sound with a backdrop of high pitched lighting. Though, despite its gentleness, it sounds rather threatening to the untrained ear. The threatening roar of this male is probably what he is most known for. At the start of the roar, it’s as though time has stood still. Nothing is coming from the male’s vocal cords despite his open maw. Then sound starts to form. It starts with a bass drop and a build up of crackling – violent and tear at his throat just to emerge. Brewing thunder can be heard beneath the bass drop (but over the crackling), and is steadily increasing in power. The volume of the roar begins to crescendo, the bass drop dying out and the angry snapping of lightning taking over. Suddenly the thunder stops… only to come back in full swing – releasing the loudest crack of thunder the world has ever been able to witness. All of this happens in mere seconds. The frightened call (which is used to alert others of danger or admit defeat) is a pitiful sounding noise. Yet it is very ear piercing, containing “auto-tune” sounds with some glitchy effects. Finally, the male’s “victory” roar is pretty similar to the threaten, but has no build up. Instead, it is there from the very beginning. The thunder and electricity are at their peak when the maw opens. The thunder comes in two loud and close-together booms. The electricity waves as the pitch does, and – for once – an actual dragon sound can be heard. It goes up and down, starting out low then hitting different notes in ascending order before going back to the note before the highest and then bouncing back and forth between the two. The call dies out after hitting the highest note one last time.

Personality:

Threatening At First || Brooding || Slightly Pessimistic || Seemingly Apathetic || Loner || Withdrawn || Straightforward || Harsh || Honest || Sarcastic || Hot Headed || Protective || Kind Under Certain Circumstances

“I’m a dragon! I have no interest in your petty human squabbles.”

“W-what?! N-no, I did not do that to cheer you- Oh, just shut up.”

Do you feel the ominous aura? Do you sense his foreboding tone? Styrmir is not the friendliest of dragons. In a way, he is threatening – filled with constant snarls, scowls, and grumbling upon one’s first interaction. You are more likely to get struck by a rogue lightning bolt than have a good first interaction with him. His appearance doesn’t help the matter either, seeing as it’s built for the rough and tumble life of survival of the fittest. Though, he is not outwardly hostile. He does not relay any threats, aggressive motions, or anything of the like. He merely tries to uphold a dark and brooding attitude towards nearly everything. With a tad bit of pessimism as well. Few can handle such gloomy thoughts in a time such as this. Combined with his looks, this makes him rather unapproachable to a decent number of souls.

For this, he is glad. The beast is very much a loner. He enjoys being left alone and being alone in general. He loathes the very idea of being associated with most other beings. It makes his scales crawl uncomfortably. He will often seek out secluded spots away from the main group just to get some time to “think.” The only presences he will allow near him are those of his brother and friends. He is also quite withdrawn or introverted. As is evident, he doesn’t enjoy most social interactions and chooses to avoid or ignore them where he can. At the most, he will just sit and begrudgingly listen in on the conversation – only speaking when addressed or when something truly “rubs him” the wrong way. Or he will simply respond with a snarl, scowl, or some grumbling to the “okay” statements, as was mentioned earlier.

At one’s first notion, it is easy to assume that the indigo male is apathetic. He is seen as rude, ignorant, and uncaring of the plights of others. This is… not entirely false. Styr is not the most empathic of souls. He cares very little about the issues one may be facing in their personal life. And he can be incredibly rude, brushing off or flat out scoffing at and telling off the one talking about their problems. However, he is in no way ignorant. As much as he detests the thought of social interactions, he will absolutely take in every detail of the situation being addressed. He will feel sympathy for those with actual issues, but will always hide these emotions and pretend that he doesn’t care in the slightest. Though, if you are close enough to him (or have a particularly troubling dilemma), he will do his best to support you… in his own special way.

Mr. Lightning Rod here has always been a straightforward fellow, never beating around the bush and going right to the point. He does not do pleasantries, apologies, or ‘no offense, but’s. He is going to speak what he thinks and say exactly what is on his mind – no matter how harsh that makes him seem. He never lies either, telling the truth no matter how cutting it may be. He does not really care about whether or not he breaks someone’s heart or shatters their world. They need to know it, lest it spell disaster. Besides, it’s better to say the truth up front than entwining yourself is a circle of lies. That would cause more pain than any hard-to-swallow truth.

Though, he does have the tendency to be incredibly sarcastic during these moments – typically giving a smart remark or the stereotypical “wow, I never knew” response. The following words are often harsh, with the underlying tone of “no idiot, of course not.” Or just those exact words. These retorts can sound very aggressive at times, especially during stressful situations. The amount of sarcastic replies will vary depending on who he is with and the relationship he holds with them. For those he respects, he will use very little or even none at all. For close friends, he will use them constantly. It’s basically his way of showing he cares. For the rest of those around him, he only really responds in this manner if they screw up exponentially. Otherwise, it’s back to his straightforward and brutally honest answers.

It is of no surprise that Styrmir is considered to be hot headed – easy to anger even at the slightest hint of… basically any response he is not keen on hearing. Or the tinies of harmless glances. Or even the smallest of unwelcome touches. He finds a lot of things to be quite irksome, granted that it comes for an unfamiliar source. The same things he finds annoying in strangers are typically fine when coming from close friends and family. The only real thing that he finds bothersome across all affiliations is any sort of physical touch to his wings. He is very protective of them, considering that his greatest fear is having them damaged. When in a sour mood, his go-to response is a rumbling growl or the snapping of his whip-like tail. His actual “threatening” roar is only saved for raw and fiery anger or for battle.

For the rare being that managed to gain this beast’s trust, they will find a protective and oddly kind companion. When trouble arises, he will be one of the first to jump to his companions aid – standing in front of them at his full height with his body alight in electricity. He will be quick to enter into any arguments or outright fights for those he cares for to keep them safe or to preserve their image. He will always defend them with much vigor, never giving in until they are officially safe or out of any argument. In the harsher moments in life, the male is willing to push his harsh words, pessimistic nature, and sarcastic remarks aside just to provide some comfort. He does not generally talk during these times, merely providing the one before him with some sort of presence that they can rely on. Though, don’t expect him to admit this aloud. He’ll swear on the storms that he did no such thing. He’s got an image to uphold, after all.

Abilities:

Lightning Breath

His lighting breath comes in two different forms: charged and quick.

Charged Blast

A charged breath sounds exactly like it acts. This attack is classified as a build up in electricity over time. In order to do this, Styrmir must breathe in with his open mouth and halt or at least slow his forward momentum. The combination of his inhalation and the constant vibration of his spines make building up electricity quite the easy task, albeit a bit of a slow one. Even easier and swifter if there is a storm occurring. After a minute or two, he will be able to release a super charged blast that will last for as long as he can hold his breath. It is not terribly accurate, but also quite hard to dodge and it has a pretty long reach – being more long and wide than percise. However, the period of time in which he builds up this blast leaves an opening for someone to attack. The effects of this stream of electricity vary between recipients, but it always paralyzes/stuns for extended periods. There is always a space between these blasts (in general and to keep moving), but he can use it as many times as he would like during one battle.

Quick Blast

A quick blast is a much weaker than its charged counterpart. It comes in “balls” or “lines” rather than streams. Unlike its counterpart, it is always acceptable – taking no time to summon whatsoever and not needing a pause in between. It is just there, immediately. It also has impeccably accuracy. If another dragon is hit with this enough times, it will stun.

Storm Casting

The most powerful of Styrmir's abilities comes from his incredible ability to create his own storm under any conditions. Releasing a roar into the sky after having charged up some electricity will cause storm clouds to form over his head and spread. Precipitation does not always come with this storm, but lightning is always present. With this storm, he can boost the power of his quick blasts and shorten the time of those charged blasts (since the lightning is naturally drawn to his metallic spines and horns). And it allows him to use one of his other abilities. However, this takes a lot of stamina to conduct and can only be used once per day if not once per multiple days – depending on the amount of stamina he had before using this ability. He will likely be sticking to quick blasts for some time after its usage as to preserve and regain his stamina. After the storm has formed, he has little control over it. At most, he can summon a tornado or two by rapidly spinning in a circle but has no control over the precipitation. These tornadoes, however, are always short-lived and weak since they more so appear from the winding of the wind rather than their actual desired conditions. They can leave another dragon quite disoriented though.

Storm Jump

The aptly named “storm jump” is a pretty percurler ability of this storm dragon. It allows him to essentially ride lightning… or turn into it. No one is exactly sure what happens during this “travel time.” It’s sort of like a form of short-distance teleportation. This ability allows for easy escapes and unpredictable movements, and can be used multiple times per battle. However, there are two downsides to this ability. The first is that there is a space of time between the jumps where he cannot ride the lightning. This period of time lasts around five minutes if not more. The second: it can only be used during storms. Meaning that, if there is no storm, then this ability is useless. It is unknown whether his rider will be able to travel with him during this time, so he will only use it whenever his rider is not on his back (with the exception of moments where he has no choice).

Electrified Body

This is a pretty simple “ability” that is sometimes not considered as such. Either way, it should be noted that Styrmir is able to turn his entire body into a living congregation of electricity. Thanks to his metallic spines and horns, he is able to guide any electricity he gathers all the way around his body. Making a sort of dragon-shaped cage. It is unwise of anyone to touch him during this state without the proper equipment. While the shock produced may be as hurtful as the static shock one can receive from a metal chair leg, it can also knock a dragon out cold with a gentle brush. Though, worry not. He has enough control to ensure that his rider is not fried to a crisp, even when he is struck by lightning.

Speed Burst

Another simple and underwhelming ability that Styrmir possesses. This power is only a thing to bring almost all of his other ones to life. By applying a speed burst (which one lasts a mere second or two) right before combat, the dragon will cause the spine directly between his horns to smash into them – if it is standing up that is. Their metal substances will smash together, creating friction and thus electricity. The rest of his spines are there to guide the electricity around his body.

Strengths:

+ Speed: Thanks to having a streamlined body and multitude of wings, Styrmir is incredibly speedy – able to out fly nearly every dragon to the group when going in a straight line. Very few things can catch him when he begins to fly, with just a single strong beat of his wing having the strength to send him forward a great number of feet.

+ Accuracy: The electrified dragon is known to be quite accurate with his strikes, only missing when the dragon is agile enough to move out of the way of a lightning strike or ball. Of course, this accuracy is mainly attributed to his quick blasts, but his charged beams can be just as spot-on if handled correctly. But, they are easier to dodge.

+ Endurance: What else would you expect from the living embodiment of electricity? Styrmir has enough energy to fly for multiple days on end without stopping. However, this energy still has its limits – especially if a charged blast or storm congering is to occur.

+ Stealth: Thanks to his darker colors and aptly colored wings, this storm dragon can easily blend in with dark clouds and can even mimic the flashing and strikes of lightning. This makes him incredibly stealth when flying and grants him the chance to hit hard and get away easily.

+ Storms: A rather obvious strength of a storm dragon, but a noteworthy one nonetheless. They boost his electric powers and turn him into a living lightning rod.

+ Eye Sight: Seeing as he was built to travel hours upon hours in the sky, it is of no surprise that his eye sight is as sharp as it is. However, one thing that should be noted is that it is just sharp. He can see through clouds – given that he puts a special eyelid over his eye.

+ Flight: Being a dragon with four powerful wings which (combined) are larger than his entire body, it is of no surprise that he is a master of flight. The upper wings are used for the major take-offs, major adjustments, and harsh forward momentums. The lower wings are used for minor adjustments and stability.

Weaknesses:

- Damage To His Wings: While this is technically a weakness to all dragons, Styrmir has it much worse off than most. Damage to any of his four wings leaves him practically immobile – not just in terms of flight, but walking as well. You’d also be taking him away from his main element. In other words, take out his wings and you’ve practically doomed him to a slow and painful death. Worst of all, this is the biggest part of his entire form which makes it an easy area to damage. After all, it’s always easiest to hit the largest part, no?

- Agility: Due to his significant speed, Styrmir has had to sacrifice his agility. Going at high speeds makes his turning rather slow – in a sense. Not to mention that he has to turn at such an angle as to not get stabbed by his own spines (if they are up, that is). His long tail does not help in the matter either, just being another thing he has to worry about keeping safe.

- Durability: As one would expect from such a streamline dragon, this boy cannot take many hits. Or practically any, for that matter. One strong hit is enough to knock up completely out of the fight.

- Large Bodies Of Water: A natural enemy of most creatures harboring electricity, large bodies of water hinder his conduction of the element. It diffuses the crackling energy and prevents him from wielding it. Though, you will still receive a nasty shock if you come too close. He may not be able to control it, but his electricity is still present in his immediate vicinity.

- Clear Skies: Pretty self explanatory. Clear skies equal no lightning and no lightning equals weaker attacks. That, and he’d be easier to spot.

- Charged Attacks: As mentioned before, it takes quite a long time to build up enough electricity to release a charged blast (given that there is no storm). This leaves him open to an attack that he will not be able to dodge under any circumstance.

- Non-Conductive Materials: Yet another self explanatory weakness. If his lightning were to come into contact with a non-conductive material (such as rubber or leather), then his attack would do little to no damage.

Other:

- Be warned, ladies. He isn’t exactly kind to those that catch his fancy. However, he’ll always work to make up for his misdeeds.

- In order to ride this dragon, one must take extra precaution with what they wear. While he can manipulate where his electricity goes (ensuring that he doesn’t fry his companion), stray sparks are not uncommon. Any sort of conductive metal is forbidden.

- When being ridden, Styrmir will raise his spines to give his rider room to hang on, and to not stab them with one. Or throw them off if he instinctively raises them.

- There is a space between his neck and the rest of his body that is void of any dangerous spines. This would be the best place to ride this beast.

- Yes, the dark indigo male can sleep whilst flying. No, he will now show you.

- The beast’s preferred habitat is mountainous regions where sheer cliffs are quite evident.

- It is unknown what type of metal lies within the horns of this stormy being, but humans are certain that it is not iron.

- Styrmir is a carnivore and typically hunts by swooping down and grabbing prey before they can even react.

The Hobbit movies. Particularly the last two with Smaug.

(c) edhelsen on Picrew
Alyx is nothing really special to see, but he also isn't the ugliest person to walk the earth or lay your eyes upon. In fact, he could easily snuggle within the threshold of being average, and he's rather content with the fact seeing as he doesn't really care for looks or beauty. If you walked up to his face and called him ugly, or even complimented the way he dressed or looked he would probably just give you a blank stare or mumble a small thank you before walking away. Being 5'8" in height, Alyx stands within the target height for someone his age. Barely. But hey, a number is a number no matter how you wanna look at it. His skin is on the paler side of the spectrum, though isn't ghostly so or paper white and retains a healthy golden glow to it thanks to his time outside adventuring and helping the rest of the original riders take back the kingdom that they lost. His face is dotted with small brown freckles around the bridge of his nose, just barely enroaching towards underneath his eyes and scatter like the stars during a cloudness night. They cluster, but aren't overly concentrated to one area and are rather small. You'd be able to notice them if you had a conversation with him, but from a distance it would take actively looking. His eyes appear golden at first appearance to many, but in reality they are simply just a light brown. It gets harder to tell if he were to stand directly under the sunlight or in the light of the moon, but in shade or cloudy weather it gets a little more obvious. Now in terms of hair, the first thing someone would probably notice is the red streak on the left side of the ruffled bangs that sweep across his forehead. The streak is a somewhat vibrant red in color, but retains some richness to the tone so it isn't obnoxious or blaring. The rest of his hair is colored the same blonde color, and is never left to grow longer than below his nape or chin.

In terms of build, Alyx falls under the umbrella of lithe, and maybe a little gangly. He is not someone who is strong-armed, rather even the most timid of children probably wouldn't find this individual frightening were they to see him down a road. Imagine the skinny kid in highschool. That's Alyx. Don't let his appearance entirely fool you, however, else the person will find themselves on their ass with no clue how or what happened in the first place. He can pull quite the biting punch when the time calls for it, and his stature allows Alyx to be light and quick on his feet. His posture is not something to scoff at either. Alyx always holds himself upright and tall, with little slouch or dragging his feet to be seen. While this could come across as something close to arrogance or pride, in reality he feels lazy and a little tired if he were to slouch. In terms of expression, you won't get much out of him either. From his unimpressed blank looks towards someones antics, to the raise of an eyebrow when someone asks something or manages to catch his interest, a smile is unusual but not unheard of. As for his dress, he keeps things simple. If it's comfortable, doesn't take too long to put together, and doesn't make him look homeless then he's good to go for the most part. Tight fitting clothing is simply not his style, and heaven forbids anything flashy or flamboyant, in color or appearance. Solid colored clothes work just fine for him thank you, and let's not forget his black hat and the two golden ear piercings in his left ear. Or even the silver chair around his neck holding a dog tag. What's the name on the tag? Well wouldn't you like to know. Occasionally he can be seen with a rose or two tucked in his hair, but this is far and few between with all the chaos that's happened recently.

- Personality -
Alyx is certainly an... interesting character to be around. If you're looking for a conversation, then look no further to anyone except this guy! Yep, you heard it here. He's rather awkward and soft-spoken in nature, so it's hard to start any small talk without some elbow grease and a little bit of desperation mixed in. Conversations tend to get nowhere fast, and end with both him and whoever tried their best in the first place feeling more out of place than before they even started talking. Eloquency was just simply not a gift Alyx was blessed with. Rather, cutting in small conversations with his own input or quips works better for him. doubling back to the soft-spoken aspect of Alyx, it's not that he doesn't want to talk, it's more so he never knows quite what to say and most words come out as a mumble. Certain situations can get him to find his voice, but for the most part patience and being a good listener is the best way his message gets across. He would be more than happy for someone else to do the talking though. From rambling or ranting about random topics, to random stories and anecdotes Alyx will always be happy to just let you do the talking if you want someone to just... listen for a couple of moments.

Alyx is a rather dedicated and resilient person, though hard to get very close to. When he makes a promise to anyone, he will do all that's in his power to make sure it's kept. If you give him a task, he will make sure it's completed as well as he can manage it, or it's eventually completed no matter the difficulty. Slacker is simply not a word in the books for Alyx. This rider will spend hours if you let him honing skills and learning new things, making sure to master what he can and practice the basics. Resilience is another thing you'll find comes with it's benefits and flaws. From challenging weather to strong enemies, he's not one to back down from the challenge if Alyx knows that it pushes his limits to a reasonable extent. This also means, however, he can be quite stubborn and unyielding in giving up certain tasks he knows he can complete, even at wits end. Not a pride thing so much as just plain stubborness on his part. If you can knock some sense into him, however, Alyx can admit when he's wrong and back down. Especially if it's hurting or going to hurt someone else. A factor that probably contributes to his awkward and a little standoffish nature is how easily he can get tense. From harmless sounds made from a passing animal or the wind his brain might percieve as a threat, to someone accidentally pushing into his personal space Alyx is always ready at a moments notice to both defend himself and others. Overeactions have happened in the past, but slowly he has gotten better at relaxing more. That's not to say occasionally a noise or action won't set him off though. Attention to detail is something Alyx prides himself in. From identifying how someone acts or moves, to the texture and appearance of items or certain wording in conversations, he tends to pick up a lot of information by just simply observing what happens around him.

Skepticism is probably a trait that contributes to how icy he can unintentionally be sometimes. It's hard for Alyx to take things at face value or what they are, and almost always hunts for a second meaning or intention behind what another does. After all, not everything is always black and white in the world. It's convoluted in deception and dishonesty, and he's not about to be crossed by someone, else face the stinging hurt of betrayal. While forming a friendship is hard, it's certainly not impossible. A person will just have to prove themselves to him to earn his respect and loyalty. Actions speak louder than words, however he considers a lot of things before deciding to truly open up. When he does, however, you'll find Alyx is as loyal as could be with the adventurous streak to feed his curiosity. Of course Alyx still has a strong sense of duty, but every once in a while he likes to divulge in an expedition or little escapade to find something or just wander. You never know what will happen after all, and the thrill of the unknown is something that both terrifies and excities him to no end. Alyx is also a kind individual, even if he doesn't express it outright. From checking in to make sure someone is okay when he notices they seem down, to completing small tasks for them if they feel under the weather and watching their back if uneasy, he's certainly not someone to overlook. What he can't seem to express in words and social conversation, Alyx can certainly convey through his actions. He cares for people deeply, if he just met you or otherwise, and will do what he can to protect you until the ends of the earth.

- Strengths -
- Detail-oriented, sometimes Alyx can pick up on the details others miss. Sometimes.
- Quick on his feet, when it comes to speed look no further!
- Looks out for everyone, and I mean EVERYONE. Nobody is left behind on his watch, even if you're a total stranger

- Weaknesses -
- Socially Awkward, never get stuck with him in a blizzard and definitely never let him negotiate important manners with someone else. He'll cave faster than an eclair
- Not physically strong, Alyx would definitely lose in a head-on fist fight without a little bit of smarts to help back him up, no questions asked
- Skeptical and On-Edge, relax? Who needs to relax! Certainly not Alyx. Getting him to be calm and take a moment for himself is certainly a challenge, and trusting a stranger even more so. Hey, he'll look out for them but that doesn't mean he trusts them

Name: Isobel Escamilla

Nicknames: Issie, Iss

Age: 22 years

Gender: Female

Role: Original Rider

Dragon: Cryosphere

Appearance:

[Credits to elenaillustrate on Picrew]

While she stands at the rather short height of 5’6 in comparison to her much taller siblings, Iss has no less mischief in her wily, yet innocent face. Once she gets talking, she can appear as energetic as a working dog – yapping and chattering away with her face never breaking the cool, arrogant grin. Her lithe body is more flexible than average, and with several years of near-home exploring under her belt, Issie has developed a fair bit of core strength. She is a adventurer at heart, getting herself in an out of anything she pleases like (mostly) and always throwing herself headfirst into anything that isn't too risky. She is still quite the petite woman, but with such strain on her body has come the occasional boughts of pain and succeptibility to injury. She is a bit more cautious these days, but not by much.

When she gets caught where she's not meant to be however, her gold and baby-blue eyes arch wide like a doe caught in path of a hunter – innocent, betrayed. Are you going to hurt me? They say, narrowing mockingly when you don’t. As if daring you to lay a hand on her deceptively slender, but muscular shoulder. Her laugh that follows is melodic and playful, even when she is downright cruel at times – further cementing her image of an innocent nature to any gullible person. She may look and act almost chilish, but she has long since developed the mind of a mater manipulator, and isn't afraid of using it.

Her arms are lightly toned and slender, yet much stronger than you’d expect from just looking at the,. Though they still discreetly fit with the image of a slightly younger woman, the muscles she has gained have developed as a result of several years of farm labour and wild adventures out in the local forests and even mountains, then of course the strain and dedication of the Dragon Rider lifestyle. They display their fair share of cuts, bruises and scrapes too, nestled between the occasional beauty mark or freckle which dance without any kind of organised pattern across her entire body. The skin beneath is a soft peach, though her face and arms often tan lightly in summer.

She mostly wears her hair up, knotted into some rugged attempt at a plait, or on occasion a half up ponytail if she feels a little so-called ‘fancy’. It would most likely remain the slightly wavy, sunny, golden-blonde mess that some children in her village had so envied when she had bothered to take care of it all. These days she has left it to grow long and freely, tying it up into the plait when she means buisness but otherwise leaving it to it's own devices. It is a fair mixture between wavy and straight, besides the sections besides her ears, as these she habitually fiddles with when she is stressed or worried.

Personality:

Isobel is a difficult lass to read from her facial expression, but never talks to a point of misunderstanding. She likes to make her point as clear as she can, or else some lesser mind might come across and get confused. And that would bother her endlessly. Her mind is as sharp as they come, and she possesses the same degree of flexibility in her stream of consciousness as she does in her body. Her mental stamina is near endless, with an impressive amount of enthusiasm fuelling her pursuit of knowledge. Not academic style knowledge, I might add, more of the 'street-smart' kind – and then more often than not, anything that could be used as blackmail or leverage or just plain gossip. Her wits have served her well through the years, and moments of quicker-than-lightning thinking have allowed her to remain alert and ready for all to come, despite her life's difficulties.

Though she often gets herself caught up in a tangle of disagreements (willingly, I might add) Isobel never veers into the realm of anger or outright aggression. She has the capability to remain arrogantly calm, extruding her ability to not get emotionally drenched with a near-cruel smile. All becomes futile if the opponent makes an intelligent enough of a strike back, but while the ploy is up she certainly enjoys it. Besides, she can always resort to a swift counter-strike of innocent charisma or a spark of originality if worse comes to worse. Her creativity is one thing that makes her so difficult to pin down – her parents had long given up attempts to ground her because she’d always come up with (a perfectly-seeming, legitimate) excuse. While this still appears a childish trait, for Issie it serves as a test of who can stay calm and cool under pressure, for there will be far worse things than her obnoxious behaviour out in the real world- and well, if they can't handle her they certainly aren't ready for the challenges of that.

Isobel still maintains the inabilty to keep still: her knee is constantly bouncing or her hands are fiddling with her hair (which, while are an outlet for her anxiety, were present pre-attack.) She is always physically unsettled and prefers to keep moving, even if that just involves tapping her foot against the ground endlessly or pacing around. Sometimes she still leans into her immaturity and begins to climb anything like a cat or sitting on high up ledges she has scrambled up moments before. Iss has had a few broken bones in the past from falling off of things, but has improved her ability to balance well enough by now. Alongside her hyperactivity is her inability to truly focus beyond exciting parts of conversation. When an argument against a superior turns into a telling off, or worse, a lecture, Iss mentally moves along. She doesn’t switch off per se, rather drifts off until she’s far enough to make a run for it. She's definately not the one to consult on strategy, if the conversation isn't set to last less than five minutes; her patience has wained over the years as she has become increasingly on-edge.

Beneth the daredevil and supposedly still chatterbox of a woman, Isobel is actually quiet quiet. She is increbibly realistic and while does not appear to sometimes, gathers the solemnity and sensibility of someone twice her age and wisdom (though she certainly has enough experience to back that up.) Though her thoughts are intelligent and her ideas wild and imaginitive, they never tend to come to reality. She struggles with actually getting things done, finding the bridge between her idea and it coming to life a unrealistic one. Besides, she rarely has anyone to help her. Iss is not a lone wolf type by choice - her arguementative nature comes with a level of insensitivity and intolerance. She rarely stays true to her words as they can readapt over and over - changing to true core as she never commits, which in turn makes her a difficult person to commmit to. She is still trying to work on this, but with painful memories comes kinks and breaks in her well thought out plans.

Strengths & Weaknesses:

^ Agile, fast & flexible

^ Charasmatic & energetic

^ Pretty creative & intelligent

- Needs mental stimulation

- No ability to cope with others' sad emotions (or her own)

- A bit of a loner & unwilling to open up

Likes & Dislikes:

<3 Her beloved family, lighthearted arguing about random things, adventuring/exploring, hope, acting childish sometimes, making people grin & laugh

</3 Trying to sit still, getting injured, panick attacks, excessive responcibility, being told what to do by anyone besides her friends, loosing sight of Cryosphere, fear

Crush:

Nope.

Significant Other:

No.

Kin:

A hardworking clan’s worth of an extended family, all gathered precariously around the longstanding family farm - which by some miracle was able to withstand Ederia's occupation. She had a plethora of siblings and cousins, but with such a number came a higher risk of their deaths. Her mother and youngest sister perished in the devistation, and her father has been left sickly and heartbroken. Isobel wishes, beyond all other dreams, that she had returned home to fight by her family's side that night.

Affiliations:

Other: Loved the Inheritance cycle books :>
