"Hey hey, don't say that. I could nev- I don't hate you. I don't hate magic either. I tried to believe it wasn't real despite all the evidence because. Well, because. Uh, well, I thought that if magic existed, I should've been smart enough to know it and be able to save my parents with it." Brax said this with a sort of stutter. But he was right about not hating Alex. He could never, truly hate anyone like her.

Although Brax's words reassured her, she didn't completely believe him, and chose her words carefully. "I agree... And... your parents? I'm sorry about them... you can't blame yourself too much - sometimes magic is dormant in a person, sometimes it can't be reached, yet it is still used," Alex ran her finger along the sliver in her plate, and ran her hand up her arm, feeling the scars. Alex never wore short sleeves, "And some are either lucky or unlucky enough that it can be expanded out of them."

It took longer than it should have for Brax to understand what Alx was saying, which in turn, made him feel stupid. Curiosity flared up in his soul, hazel eyes looking at Alex even if she couldn't see it. "Not to be rude or obnoxious or anything. But which one are you? If you don't want to answer that's fine, I'm probably already being to nosying anyways." Brax's eyes went back down on the table. Internally cursing himself for being so rude.

"I can't control my magic, really. I can mend small chips in glass, tears in fabric, little scratches on other people... small things only. And.. umm.. fast healing, I guess. Since I can't see, I constantly hurt myself... and sometimes.." Alex shrugged, "Anyways. My body heals quickly, but it's no painless. And it leaves marks." Alex pulled up her sleeve, and her arms was covers in scars, crisscrossed, layered, and not at all smooth. "I can't see it, but I know it's ugly. Magic isn't helpful. It hurts."

Brax listened intently and hi eyes widened at the marks on her arm. It wasn't too horrible, though for any normal person it would be. If anything, it added to Alex's personality, she'd been through a lot yet she was still so strong and sweet. "I don't think its ugly to be honest, if anything, it tells a story that only people close to you know about. About how magic doesn't help, well I think I can agree with you on that. But I think you as a person do help, you're very useful, so don't doubt yourself."

The corners of Alex's lips lifted, "Thank you, Brax. That means a lot," she murmured, her unseeing eyes on the counter. The girl began to clean up her plate, and once she was done looked at Brax, though her eyes weren't exactly on his. "I'm going to change. I'll see you later."

"Yea, I should get back to my people too. So uh, see you around then. And it wasn't a problem Alex. More people should tell you that you're important." Brax rinsed out his cup and was gone just as quickly.

Alex's heart felt... warmer... after that. Less heavy and burdened. So, as she changed into a loose sweater and jeans, and brushed her pale hair, Alex thanked Brax in her mind.

Brax entered the room to Amika waking up. The teen rubbed her eyes as she looked at Brax. "Morning," she whispered quietly as not to wake anyone up. Already, Ami looked wide awake compared to how Brax still looked half asleep.

Ribs had slept in that room on the floor, and he seemed almost... peaceful... without the lines of worry that constantly took over. It was somewhat shocking. The young man seemed like the most easygoing of his companions.
