Anything can be fixed with tape. If it's not fixed, you're not using enough tape.

Same goes with Number 8 Wire.

Aldrich was pleased to know that he wouldn't have to really shoo away his normal meal guests and gave a nod over to where a few were restlessly waiting. They seemed to relax a bit and get back to what they were doing with preparations as the kids scurried off waving to the princess as they went. Allura though, she stayed back continued to talk for a bit more, "Alder takes care of us the most since he's older. He treats us like we're siblings which is cool but just wait until you meet princess Kaida his real sister!" she gushed.

Alder just rolled his eyes and shooed her away right around the time Nana came to bring them to the table to eat. She was always like this when he had company, eager to eat and mingle around, she had been this way since she first arrived at the castle. He couldn't help but love the motherly approach she had since his stepmother was rarely around due to having priorities back at home.

As she left them to grab who knows what he could feel Keira's eyes on him but did not prepare him for the question she asked, "Though, that does make me question something. Do you even know how to handle woman, Alder?" he stiffened and stared at her with wide eyes. Those around them stifled their chuckles to which he threw glares at them before clearing his throat.

"Well," his face reddened considerably more, "I have not yet met the right woman nor have I wanted to fraternize around with the women who threw themselves at any man with money. So," he cleared his throat once again, "you could say I do not have very much experience with women, at least not ones I would like to court." He bit back the urge to say that she was one of the women he didn't want to court at the end and instead she looked away from her. He couldn't help though but hate the way his name fell from her lips, normally in the stories it was said that you should love the way it sounds from the one you're supposed to love, but in this case, it sounded like a threat.

He shook off the thought as others began to join them in sitting to enjoy the feast and looked to him expectantly. He sighed heavily to himself and raised a glass filled with crimson wine, "To our guest Kiera and the hope of future peace after much hardship and war," his voice rang out strong through the now quiet banquet hall. His words hung low in the room for a moment before everyone in unison yelled 'Aye!' and soon the hall was alight with conversation and the sound of food being passed around.

The kids laughed as Dimitri used his magic to create blue fire humanoid figures and dance them around in the air. He could also see Nana gossiping with a few other women and looking his way a few times. When they locked eyes she just gave him a wink which he rolled his eyes in response. It was like nothing had changed other than the person sitting in front of him across the table.

"I do hope you find your stay here comfortable. You'll be returning to your kingdom on the morrow so I can have time to set up a personal room for you when you arrive again to stay longer. I hope to visit your home as well later down the line as I feel it unfair for you to just stay here," he spoke through sips of wine but hadn't touched any of his food. He was always like that when stressed about something; leaving the food to be eaten by everyone but himself.

"I also would like to inform you that you shouldn't go anywhere near the underground floors. The keeper of said floors is not keen on those he does not know trespassing and trust me when I say that those walls allow no screams to be heard," he warned seriously in a low tone as to not disrupt those around him. All at the table knew of the keeper of the crypt below but very few other than the guards have seen him.

"Yes make yourself at home," Ko piped up from next to Aldrich with a kind smile, but the look in his dark blue eyes told her that he was watching, "Oh where are my manners? My name is Ko Lockhart and I am a council member here as well as one of the few tutors that teach about the history of this castle. So, if you have any questions do not fear coming to me with them," he grinned wider. He truly did like talking about the history of the castle since he had been living there the longest, even through the massacre that took the lives of everyone else.

"I'd be careful," Aldrich piped up, "he'll talk your ear off for hours if given the chance," he sipped his wine ignoring the icy glare he received and just shrugged. He wasn't wrong since the last time someone asked he went on a two-hour-long lecture of some of the years of the castle. Couldn't help but feel bad for the poor bloke who just wanted to know how long ago the castle was made.

After a little while, the desserts were brought out which made the kids very excited, almost to the point where he had to step in to calm them down. Nana handled them well enough though while Allura shot Alder a knowing glace that he just grinned at with a raised brow. She didn't maintain the look long when she got her hand on a slice of cheesecake and he went back to slowly sipping his wine.

"I hope you don't find this too rude, but I am very tired, so I do think it is nearing time I retire for the night," Alder stood up with his goblet in hand. He gave everyone a slight bow of the head before locking eyes with Keira, "if you need to speak with me more you can ask anyone to lead you to my chamber or the library where I do most my work," he once again bowed to her before stalking off and out of the banquet hall.

Once outside of the hall his calm demeanor fell and a darkness fell over his features that could only be described as boiling disgust. The whole situation felt off and he hated that he was caught in the middle of it. His father would laugh at him for being so weak to the whims of humans, but he could not help but care for the people he came to rule over. And one day they would see that the once-mighty dragon hunting kingdom is ruled by the very thing they sought to destroy. And hopefully, by then they would like him enough not to raise their blades against him, not again.

Geneviève listened to his words, amused that he has never really had any experience with a woman yet. She doesn't know why she thought he would, but with what she has heard about him, it would be hard to believe if he did have experience with a woman. She hummed, showing she acknowledged his words. She has a feeling that he is holding back for her sake, which is fine considering she wouldn't be able to hold back the words that would leave her lips. At least she hopes that Kiera would be someone that he would want to court since she is completely and utterly the opposite of her. She definitely isn't courting material and never will be. She has been alone her whole life without any interest in men and she would like to keep it that way for the rest of her life. Having a man in her life is only going to weigh her down and they might not like that she can actually care for herself.

She grabbed the wine that they had at the table when it seemed like Alder is going to be making a toast. She toasted with everyone before sitting down and glancing at the wine in her hand. She certainly doesn't drink alcohol in general, having her set the wink down and pick up the glass of water instead to drink. She definitely despises alcohol on the account of the bad experiences she had with it. Not her particularly but her family rather. She refuses to ever have a drop of alcohol and the day that she somehow does is the day that she fails. She hopes it isn't rude that she isn't drinking the wine, but she would rather die than ever drink it. If they had her choose between drinking the wine and living or not drinking the wine and them killing her, she would choose that they kill her.

A small smile appeared on her lips as she watched Dimitri use his magic, her gaze watching it intently. She let a small sigh leave her lips as she glance away moments later though, a small bit of pain appearing on her features. She had always been envious of people who could use magic. Had she not been born a Werewolf, she would've loved to have been born in a family that had magic properties running in their family. She has to live this curse of a Werewolf, a creature that people fear since they think the lore about them is true. That is so far from it considering it is all a lie. She doesn't understand why they can't see her as their equal and that she would never hurt anyone unless it was coming their way already.

She had to keep her face from becoming a bit worried when he mentioned him coming to Velaris. When that is to happen, she will have to reveal who she truly is and explain everything as to why she posed as Kiera in the first place. "Of course. I would be happy for you to come to visit Velaris someday in the near future. It is definitely a stunning place. You might be closely watched considering my knight Geneviève, my advisor Kenji, and my trusted council member Aleksander are my closest friends and are very protective over me." She was cringing internally that she mentioned her very own name when bringing up Kiera's closest friends. She doesn't like Kenji nor Aleksander, but she wasn't going to say that since she isn't herself at the moment.

Her brow raised when he mentioned the underground floors. Now she wants to go see the place, even if he just told her not to. She doesn't want to see it because he told her no, but rather because she is interested to see what is underground. She wonders what he could be hiding down there that makes him tell her to stay away, especially if the keeper of the floors doesn't trust anyone but Alder. She might just have to one day sneak down there, even if that means she has to use her wolf side or whatever she needs to do to get out of there. Regardless, she just nodded her head to show that she understood not to go down there.

She perked up when Ko spoke up and mentioned the history of this castle. She was already interested since books are something she loves doing whenever she has the time. Lately, she hasn't been able to read much related to things happening down in town and Ashton needing her often, but when she gets those rare times to read, she gets lost in them for hours until someone has to pull her away from them. She grinned, not minding if she gets her ear talked off in the slightest. Ko can keep her all he wants and she wouldn't mind since history is one of her favorite subjects.

"I would love to hear about the history one of these days, Ko." She said with a bright grin on her face. She hasn't really eaten her food considering she doesn't eat that much in general. She knows she might have to try some of it to seem grateful that she was provided a meal. She took a bite of the food, her gaze still on Ko. "I love hearing about the history of different castles. It is one of my favorite genres when it comes to books." She said, seeming to get excited about learning about history as well as potentially being able to read books. "I wouldn't mind sharing some of my castle's history if you wanted to know. It would be a pleasure."

After talking for a while with everyone, which she actually enjoyed surprisingly, dessert was brought out. She had to prevent herself from drooling at seeing all of the sweets being laid out on the table. She instantly reached out and grabbed a cookie and took a bite, a grin appearing on her lips at the sweetness filling her tastebuds. This was absolutely amazing and she wished that she could just take all of these to her room and eat them whenever she can. Sometimes she wonders how she stays so in shape at times when she eats too many sweets at times.

"These are simply divine." She mumbled as she reached out and grabbed a chocolate-covered strawberry. "You can win me over with sweets any time." She said it to no one in particular nor did she realize she said that out loud. "Well, most of the time." She was more focused on the sweets than what she was saying at the time. Once she realizes when she said, she knew she is going to regret it and know she gave them something to try and win her over.

She glanced up when Alder stood up, indicating that he is going to be leaving. She nodded her head, knowing she probably won't be talking to him the rest of the night. The last thing she needs is to interact with him in private and let her words get the best of her. She watched as he walked off before turning towards Ko and Dimitri. She wonders if they can lead her to a room since she doesn't know her way around the castle. Well, she could wander around until she finds an empty room, but knowing her, she might come across something she shouldn't see and get punished for it.

"Excuse me." She said, cringing at how polite she is being. She can't wait to drop this act once she gets to her room. "I am quite tired myself. Would one of you be able to lead me to one of the rooms?" She asked them, knowing she isn't going to be going to sleep once she gets there. Once she gets to her room, she is going to sneak out of the castle somehow, perhaps let the wolf out that has been pacing ever since she has stepped foot in this castle.

She hates when she feels like this, on edge and thinking that something is lurking in the shadows ready to pounce on her. She knows that if something were to jump out at her from the shadows, she would be shifting, letting the wolf take control as self-defense since she didn't have her sword on her like she usually does. Sure, she has the knife, but that is going to be a hassle to get out since she would have to lift her dress up. With her shifting, it would reveal the creature that she is and they would know that she isn't Kiera. They might just kill her on the spot or they might even end up capturing her and throwing her in the dungeons, probing her and studying her. Though, who knows, maybe they would let her explain everything.

"If you don't mind, that is. I can find my way if you are too busy though."

Ko seemed to brighten up when he heard that the princess was interested in what he had to say about the castle. He was born inside the walls of the kingdom to some nobles who followed the old king so he was taught at a very early age about the castle. He learned how it was built, when it was built, and who had done it as well, and everyone knew he was fascinated by it. How could someone build something so massive with little to no magic use?

He had to stop himself as well from gushing when she said she would tell him about the castle she lived in. He has traveled a few times to their kingdom back when he was small, so he knew very well the sights Velaris had to offer. He had to stop his travels there once Alder took over due to the rising tensions and other matters, but there was nothing much he could do about it.

He gave her a bright smile in return, "I do hope to hear about the castle in detail, it has been a very long time since I have visited Velaris when I was a boy, I would love to hear how it's been."He returned his age back to his food when he felt the scrutinizing gaze of Dimitri at the side of his head but just shot the boy his normal lazy grin. He was far too cautious for someone so young, but then again he is in charge of keeping the kingdom safe along with Alder.

When Alder got up to leave Zira left alongside him and gave both him and Dimitri a nod before closing the doors behind her. "Do not mind the King's attitude Princess," Dimitri finally spoke up, "He is still not quite used to being in the presence of other royalty such as yourself. Especially none as kind as you seem to be," he bowed his head in a form of apology, but his words while seemingly innocent had an edge to them. Dimitri was not an easy person to fool, not with magic or silver-tongued lies, but as no danger presented itself he said nothing. He had no evidence either to support his suspicions on the princess either.

When Kiera stood to leave and asked to be shown her room Ko stood up with a smile, "I can lead you to the guest rooms," he motioned with his arm for her to follow, "This way."

Nana gave him a look as he led her off but said nothing as she returned to her conversation with the other kitchen staff and kids. He just rolled his eyes and continued on, "You know, Kiera," he started, "this hall used to be filled with the finest paintings and ornaments," he gestured to the now baren walls, "but now the walls lay bare with the exception of a few things like the painting of Alder's late mother." he pointed to the human-sized painting of a beautiful woman. Her skin was pale and stood out against her fiery red hair, but she also looked sickly even with the kind expression she wore.

"It was said that she was ill when the painting was made but she wanted something Alder could keep so he'd never forget what she looked like," he smiled and glanced back to her, "quite sweet don't you think?"

Alder knew that Zira would be behind him as he exited the dining hall but he could care less at that moment. He was angry, confused, and just hated the whole situation as a whole, but he had to keep it together. "Alder," Zira spoke up behind him. Her voice brought him back to reality and grounded him at least for the moment.

"What Zira," he growled out as he stomped down the long hall towards where his chambers were. He needed a drink, something a bit stronger than the wine they were serving, and he needed somewhere to lay down. To calm his burning nerves.

"Your horns are out and so are your claws," she pointed out pointing to her head then to his. His walking stuttered then stopped as he brought his hands to hair, and sure enough, all four horns were fully grown and his crown was skewed to the right.

"Great just great," he growled as he continued his stomping down the hall. Workers that noticed him gave him a wide berth of space knowing the darkness covering his features meant he was livid about something. Zira just sighed to herself knowing full well that if he didn't calm himself down he would transform as he had once before in the castle throne room. That did not go over well and the messenger that was sent never made it back to the kingdom they were from. She still gripes him about it to this day.

Soon enough they made it to Alder's chambers where he all but ripped the doors open and stomped in. Zira just sighed heavily once again before following him inside. She was one of the only ones who would ever follow him into any room when he was pissed off because she knew he would never do anything to purposefully hurt her.

"Get out!" he screamed when he noticed her following, his voice bouncing and echoing out down the hall.

She stood her ground though and raised a brow, "I will not."

"That is an order Zira! Get. Out." He stomped up to her, towering over her at his full height. She could see the blue flecks in his now slitted eyes and as he spoke lowly she could see his fangs had grown in.

She just glared right back up at him before pushing him back and stepping in through the door fully, "Then what?" Her voice was calm as she pushed him again making him stumble back. "Let you destroy yourself?" She asked and pushed him again making him step back a few steps. "Let you be their monster?" She pushed him again but this time he hit the foot of his bed and fell over it.

Alder was completely taken aback by her actions, but it distracted him from the boiling anger and hatred. "Zira-"

"No." she cut him off as she walked around and grabbed a bottle of honey mead, "Drink this you angry reptile." she shoved it into his side.

Alder just stared at her for a moment before he busted out laughing at her last comment, "Never thought of you to be the joking type." he coughed out as he righted himself on the bed.

"It got you to stop throwing a tantrum," she shrugged and leaned against the bed next to him.

He just sighed and took a drink not having the energy to really argue with her on that note. She was right, he was throwing a tantrum, but he had no idea how to handle what was going on. "Thanks, Zira, sorry for yelling at you," he sighed and handed her back the bottle. She just gave a nod before taking a drink herself and putting the bottle back.

Geneviève couldn't help the small smile that formed on her lips at how Ko brightened up at the mention of her sharing the history of her castle with him. Even if she is far from being a people person, she did enjoy sharing information she has learned about like the history of a land or different types of castles to someone. It has always been something she does, especially when new guards are coming in and need to learn a little bit of history about certain things in general. She always learns new things whenever she picks up a new book and reads it. Lately, she hasn't had much new information since she has been so busy with the tasks that Ashton has thrown onto her as well as this new gig of posing as Kiera.

"Of course. It would be a pleasure sharing the history with you since I love talking about it much like you." She said as she took a sip of the water. "I can even have Geneviève tell you even more since she is a hardcore bookworm compared to me." She said, internally cringing at bringing up her own name once again. She hopes she doesn't have to pose as Kiera for a long period of time as she doesn't think she will be able to keep up the act, especially when she has more important duties as a knight.

She watched as Zira went with Alder before her gaze flickered to Dimitri. She listened to his words, her brow raising at the edge he had to them. It seems that he might not trust her very much or doesn't know what her true intentions are. She understands how he feels, which is why she is here to see how they are compared to Kiera actually being here. She feels better that she is here in her friend's place, but she hates how she has to act, which doesn't seem to really fool Dimitri. They will eventually know the truth behind everything and probably end up hating her, but she can't help it when she wanted to make sure that her Princess is safe.

"It's fine, Dimitri. I am quite used to it. I haven't been around much royalty myself since my father doesn't really let me leave the castle." She explained, which is actually true. She has to sneak Kiera out of the castle sometimes to give her a nice breath of fresh air or to bring her to the orphanage where she loves playing with the children. She tends to stay far away from Kiera but close enough to keep an eye on her when she is at the orphanage. "Why thank you. Being rude wouldn't help my case in the slightest, would it?" She asked, also have a slight edge to it much like Dimitri did. She hates when people subtly hint at something but don't take action in doing something about it.

She set the napkin she had on her lap on the table as Ko stood with her. She bowed her head slightly to show how grateful she is that he is willing to show her to the room she will be staying in. As much as she would just like to go home right now and not deal with staying here and have a secret be revealed, the roads at night are dangerous with creatures, thieves, and other things that mingle in the night. She bowed to the rest of the guests sitting at the table finishing their food before she followed after Ko with her guards following behind her. She once again picked up her dress so the hem wasn't dragging on the ground to where it would make her trip. Wouldn't that be a sight for everyone to behold?

She listened as Ko explained to her that the walls used to have items hanging from them. She wonders why there is no longer anything on the walls beside the painting that he pointed out. She stopped in front of the painting of Alder's mother, taking in how the oil colors blended so nicely together to create the beautiful woman, even if she looked slightly sickly. "It is sweet." She said as she gazed at the painting for a few more moments before realizing she probably stared at it for too long. She cleared her throat out of slight embarrassment before turning towards Ko. "It's lovely that he cares for his mother so much."

She never had a good relationship with her parents before they died. They were never good people to begin with. She is surprised that they even had kids in the first place. She got along decently with her mother, but as far as her father goes, there was never going to be a chance that they would like each other. She never even got along with the prissy and spoiled sister of hers. For all she cares, her sister can be dead in a ditch and she wouldn't shed a tear. As far as her brother goes, she was very close with him. They were practically conjoined at the hips with how they did almost everything together before he became a Herald. Then came the news that he died and that just broke her. When he died, it was like a piece of her went with him, causing her to be the person that she is today. Him dying was the reason that she hates royalty with a burning passion because they were the ones that sent him to his death.

Once Ko showed her to the room, she stopped in the doorway. "I appreciate you showing me to my room. It was nice to meet you. I'm counting on exchanging history about our kingdoms soon." She said with a small smile, actually slightly excited to share that information with him. "Goodnight, Ko." She said before she closed the door behind her.

She made sure she locked the door before she let the smile fall from her lips. She could already feel her cheeks hurting from the fake smiling she has been having to do. She doesn't understand why they couldn't have someone that was more like Kiera do this compared to her who is the exact opposite. She reached up and started to pull the pins out of her hair and set them on the dresser. She winced slightly at the knots in her hair that the servants created when making sure that her hair was kept in place during the whole ride to the kingdom and during dinner. It doesn't help that her hair is absolutely long and gets knotty rather easily.

Once she made sure she had all of the pins out, she quickly stripped the restricting dress off and practically flung it as far as she could away from her. "Stupid dresses." She grumbled as she put on a pair of loose slacks and a shirt. She knew she couldn't exactly walk out of her room looking like this nor say she wanted to go outside by herself as it would be suspicious. She pursed her lips as she looked at the window, forming a plan as she pushed them open. She glanced around, seeing guards here and there. It seems that she will have to be careful in escaping into the woods for some alone time. She doesn't need to be caught and then brought to Alder and be questioned as to why she is mingling around without anyone following her.

She climbed out of the window before jumping down, landing quietly on her feet in the shadows. She moved slowly and quietly among the shadows, avoiding the guards as she made her way to the wall. Once she made it to where she wanted to be, she glanced to make sure the guards weren't looking before she jumped up and pulled herself over the wall. She let a breath of relief out as she headed towards the forest, needing to let the wolf out that has been pacing ever since she got here. There is something that Alder is hiding but she isn't quite sure what it could really be. He didn't give off a smell like he was a creature of some sort, so she wonders why she is sensing that there is something more to him than meets the eye.

She shook her thoughts away before she let herself shift, her bones popping and breaking to readjust to the creature that she is. Of course, it hurt, but after years of doing it, it doesn't hurt as much. She shook her silky black coat out once she was completely done shifting. The only thing that slightly stood out, besides her eyes, were the white points on her paws and the tip of her ears. She let a huff out before she trotted off. She already started to feel better just being out in the wilderness without anyone keeping a close eye on her. Though, creatures always lurk in the darkness, something she forgot about until it was too late.

She wasn't even paying attention to her surroundings, like she usually does with everything going through her head, when she felt a sharp pain in her side. She let a growl out and saw an arrow sticking out of her side. It even burned, knowing that the arrowhead is silver. Damn, that is going to take forever to heal since it isn't just a regular arrowhead that will heal within half an hour. Damn thieves, knowing that creatures exist and know that Werewolves are bigger than the Grizzly Bears they see. She brushed up against a tree to break it off before running off, not needing to have another arrow get stuck into her flesh.

She struggled getting back over the castle wall and into her room. How could she be so careless in not paying attention to her surroundings? Well, she did go out at night, something she never really does, so she blames herself for this situation as well. She groaned as she rolled over the ledge of the window sill and flopped onto the ground. Her hand went to her side, knowing she can't take the arrowhead out unless she wants to bleed out. She can't leave her room without anyone finding out about what happened. What was she thinking sneaking out at night?

"What a fucking idiot you are, Geneviève."
