Samuel Brooks - male - 20 - game hunter - arctic wolf - mentions: Nyx, Laark, Sabine, Mike, Tallin

When he had heard Nyx's warning he decided to see for himself, unlike his sister he knew hunters were a blight just like they thought shifters were, Nyx wanted to let their actions make them who they are, he already knew what their actions would be just by their intent.

Quickly shifting into his wolf form, the deer herd forgotten, he sprinted to where he had heard Nyx's first screech, not to his surprise there were two other shifters, a white horse that had to be Sabine, a scout Nyx's age, and a barn owl that was probably Mike Cliffman.

He shifted into his human form, nocking an arrow in case the hunter decided to attack them he would have a clear shot; eyes locking on the black haired hunter, he dared her to attack.
And that's what she did.

One second he was standing with his bow raised the next he was on the ground with a dagger to his neck.
The girl- hunter had his head pinned so even if he did shift into a wolf he wouldn't be able to get free or fight back; but she had forgotten about his hands.
Gripping the arrow he had nocked earlier he pressed the sharp end in her side, not hard enough to pierce her, but a warning for what was to come if she didn't let go.

"Kill me and my entire family will hunt you down, wolves are pack creatures, we don't like it when our kind is hurt" he only had his sister left and she was an owl, but this hunter didn't know that, maybe the threat was enough to scare her.
Just as he said that he heard something running- wolf, he had heard that sound a million times before from his own paws.
He smiled, this was just what he needed to prove to the hunter that he did have an entire family of wolves.
He watched as the gray wolf, Tallin he recalled, pounced.

Mike Cliffman-Male-20-Shifter-Barn Owl- Mentions:Sam, Nyx, Sabine, Laark, Tallin

He heard the thud of an arrow hitting wood; he turned his head to look at it and saw the hunter sitting beneath it. He noticed Nyx fly away with a screech, and saw the hunter tackle Sam; he had his bow out, but that would be of no use at that close of a range. How had the hunter known where they were? It was possible that the hunter had just been lucky, but he didn’t want to rule out the chance one of them had been followed. He saw Sam say something to the hunter, possibly trying to scare her.

He watched, so still he could have passed for a statue, as another wolf(Tallin, he recalled) ran up to the hunter, about to attack. Then he was letting out a screech of his own as he dropped down on them at the same time as Tallin.

Yes, he knew it wasn’t owl like behavior-he would have to hunt as a human for a few nights, to make sure they didn’t suspect him- but as a shifter, he couldn’t let a hunter kill one of his own kind. So he raked his talons down the hunter’s back as Tallin pounced, hoping to overwhelm her by multiple attackers at the same time.

Horace Umbra / M / 23 / Fisherman / Polar Bear / Mentions: Michael, Nala, Dreyvon

Horace scratched the back of his head. “I- uh should’ve noticed that,” Horace curled the edges of his mouth up slightly. This was the first time he heard the farm name. He was glad he got his friend to laugh, it managed to make him burst out a few chuckles too. He followed Michael’s eyes, looking towards the horses. “They really are,” Horace said as he placed his arms against the wood, leaning to look closer at the horses. “I think a large dales pony or draft would do us good, especially when winter arrives. We don’t need anything swift, just something that’s bulky and can survive the winters,” Horace tapped the edges of the wood, the fencing was strong.

“You know these horses well, huh?” Horace had picked up a long strand of grass and started spinning it on the tips of his fingers. He watched as the foal reared up on his hind legs, it didn’t frighten Horace at all, but just let another laugh erupt from his throat. He looked over to the approaching man, his braid and iridescent eye coloring had caught Horace’s attention. It was an odd look, but Horace didn’t judge.

“Ah, yes, you might know my father, we go fishing every morning but this week we’re going to have to hike down to the halibut lake so we need a good draft horse to take us up a notch,” Horace had stopped when he said his sister was out. “Alright, I’ll deal with her later tonight then,” A soft smile slipped his features as he looked out to the horses once more. “Do you mind if you could show me your draft stock? And perhaps a wagon or reins,” Horace put the long blade of grass on top of the fencing, standing straight in his posture.

Laark Umbra / F / 19 / Hunter / Mentions: Tallin, The other hunters, Nyx, Sabine, Sam, Mike

Laark heard a snarl approach from her. She removed one dagger from the man’s throat and tipped it in one of her vials. She didn’t full-on stab the wolf, as it lunged at her, she did have a clear shot to its heart, but instead, she elbowed it in the throat, slicing her poisoned dagger across the wolf's chest, it was thin and clean-cut, but the poison would slow down the target until they were paralyzed and eventually kill them. This process happens fast, she didn’t know if the vial was venom or not, but she was given an antidote along with it. (Edit to add to Mike sorry, didn't see your post! D:) Laark heard the screech before she felt the claws. She had a free hand to spare, and with the same poison-tipped dagger, she managed to get a small cut on the barn owl's toe. Since he was smaller than the rest, the process would happen even quicker. His attempt to pierce her skin failed, all it did was rip through her cloak, and skid against the armor she wore.

She felt the sharp arrow hit her side-yet not ready to pierce. She inhaled sharply after listening to him. It was her turn to threaten. “I don’t deny that you’re fast, but I believe you underestimate my skills,” She pointed the bloodied dagger to his eyes, even with the blood, one could see the venom spread across it. “That’s what I call a victory, stand down and I’ll hand over the antidote, otherwise, your little ‘family’ will suffer a long, paralyzed death,” Lark flipped the dagger back into one of the loops along her waist.

She was good at threats; her voice was always seductive when it came to things like this. “Even if you do manage to impale me, I’ll get the chance to slit your throat in a second. I’ll be injured, but you’ll drop dead choking on your own blood,” Laark hissed the words out tightening her leg grip on the male. The wolf that had approached her was no longer a problem, by now it should be paralyzed. Once this guy admits defeat, Laark would hand over the antidote.

Nalaea Leogwyn - Female - 22 - Hidden Shifter/Horse Breeder - White Panther - mentions: Marietta

"That is a bold statement to be saying in these parts." Nala turned appearing to seem as though she was going to circle the other girl. "Have you ever set foot outside of Fellborn? Farther than this trees?" The young woman scoffed at the idea of predators that might hurt the town.

"The only predators this town needs to worry about are those hunters. If we could get them to leave maybe this place would feel like it once was." She paused her steps running a hand over her braid. "Since when was it normal for shifters to hide in their forms only to return under the guise of night just to keep their lives? Who made what those monsters say the law and that those that aren't a stupid list are not citizens."

She was half muttering to herself and half speaking to the girl. Her gaze had moved to the ground where she was walking then back to the younger girl. "But you needn't worry about that. You can still travel in and out of town freely. I would go back to the carving that you were doing and not worry about what I have said lest someone was listening."

She offered a wave before turning on her heel shifting into the panther as she jogged back into the confines of the trees. It was a feeble attempt at working out her own frustration but a part of her worried for the other female. She wasn't much older than the girl but knew that there was so much to see than just the small town where they were living.

Nala had travelled with her father more often when she had gotten older and especially after the death of her oldest brother then the disappearance of her brother Michael. Dreyvon had been away studying so she stepped up to help her father. The toll of watching her father killed before her eyes had steeled her hatred against the hunters and her resolve to keep the family business going for the sake of her ailing mother and father. Of course when Dreyvon had arrived offering to help, she had ventured farther and farther away with horses trying to keep the word of their good horses in the mouths of people.

The panther paused once she was far enough away from the other shifter and shifted back into her human form once more rolling her sleeves up as she continued walking picking up a few flowers along her path creating a story in her head as to why she was alone in the forest.

Michael Sorenson - Male - 25 - Baker - mentions: Horace, Dreyvon

"Of course." He climbed over the fencing with ease before heading towards the stable. "Are you looking for a lighter draft or a heavy draft? It sounds like a light draft would be good as they are sturdy but yet have a little more maneuverability than the heavier ones." He raised an eyebrow as Michael caught up to the pair grumbling about his short legs compared to the to taller men.

Michael nodded listening and placed his hands in his pockets as they walked. "I mean we try to know as much as we can about these horses. I am the pretty face while my darling sister makes deals for new bloodlines." He opened the door to the stable where a few horses were quietly munching on the hay. There were a couple draft stallions with their heads over the door to their stall. Dreyvon walked up to on and had Michael stand on the other side. The horse's head was almost the same size as the shorter man's torso.

"This is Tiny. He is the biggest guy we have here but also just the sweetest." The stallion's dark brown eyes watched the newcomers and nuzzled Michael's chest causing the stout man to take a step back from the unexpected push. "What the?" The horse had a splattering of white along his lips and eyes but the rest was a deep russet brown with black.

Michael stepped over inspecting a slightly smaller stallion with an all black shining coat. He offered a hand to the velvet nose as the stallion's ears flicked forward looking for a treat or pet. "This one isn't quite as imposing." He commented catching Dreyvon's eyes watching his movements.

"That is Nala's personal riding horse. She hasn't bred him to any mares yet, though I have tried to convince her to. We have a couple mares out to pasture that I think would produce some nice foals with him. But if you want something closer to his size, we have a five year old mare that is for sale. She is a little smaller but just as thick as him. A half sister I believe since Nala bought the mare who had that grey foal that was showing off for you with that stud you're friend is touching at her side six years ago."

The stallion stepped back into his stall away from the eyes of the three men going back to munching happily on his hay. Dreyvon gave one final pet to the stallion he was next to before moving farther down the stable. "We can go out to the pastures from here through that door. Do you want something you can train or something already trained?"

Tallin | Female | 18 | Hidden shifter | M: Laark, Mike, Sam

Tallinn's jerk to the side did her well - but the wolf hadn't expected the hunter to react so fast. Her plan, her calculations all hinged on the speed of the hunter - and she had underestimated. Tallinn fell away to the side, head smacking the ground, a cloud of dirt rising through the air. She gasped for breath as a spasm of pain shuddered through her body.

She felt herself shift. Perhaps, in her human form, she could be more capable. Her mind was muddled, her actions slow. She drew her hand to her upper chest, near her collarbone. Fiery agony stabbed in a slash near her neck, and when she pulled her hand back, it came away bloody.

Staggering forward, she drew her dagger. She summoned her very last reserves of energy.

I won't give in.

She shuddered, then rose, leveling the dagger with the hunter's neck.

"Don't move," she snarled, voice slightly muffled by the bandana concealing most of her face. One of the reasons she kept her face hidden was to cover up emotion - cover up weakness. But the pain flashing in her soulful brown eyes was visible, despite her attempts to hide it.

She swayed on her feet.

No!

Some strange courage of mind kept her up, but Tallinn knew she couldn't stand it much longer.

"Get up. You're trapped," she choked out. The blood was running down her chest now, soaking through her tunic.

I'm not a hero. I'm not brave. I can't do this.

Marietta Pleasant - Female - 18 - Scout - Badger - Mentions: Nalaea

Marietta watched the other shifter, listening to her words. She was completely and totally confused. She followed her through the woods. "Hey! What are you talking about? The hunters didn't release a list!" She didn't even know of a new leader to the hunters. Nothing added up. I mean, she could've fallen asleep during something important, but that was highly unlikely.

(I feel like my replies are getting shorter. Sorry)

Nalaea Leogwyn - Female - 22 - Hidden Shifter/Horse Breeder - White Panther - mentions: Marietta, Dreyvon.

Nala paused an raised an eyebrow turning to see the girl following her. "There may not be a list yet but many know that they are very wary about those that weren't here when they first arrived." She rested a hand on her hip looking around before moving to stand just a few inches from the girl. "I thought you were scouting...Since when is it normal for a scout to follow a random person without backup?"

She tilted her head before taking a few steps back and turned continuing on her walk. "Are there any other things I need to know dear scout? I would like to spend some time alone to freshen up and remove some of these twigs and dust from my hair." Nala lifted the small bouquet to her nose taking in the sweet scent of the flowers before stepping out onto the main path that moved through the trees.

Nala turned to the left taking her time with her strides to let the scout decide to follow or head back into town. She paused for a moment looking over her shoulder then rolled her eyes dropping flowers along behind her as she walked. Maybe if they hadn't marked out shifters yet, she could head back to town and clean up at the house...she could also grab a few things from the market for her mother.

Nala quickly changed her direction and headed back towards the village passing by the girl dropping the rest of her flowers as she walked. "Talk quickly because I do not have much patience for changing my course once again." Her strides faster paced as she walked only pausing when she caught sight of the village. She looked over to Marietta and narrowed her eyes lifting a hand to the girl's throat as a low growl left her lips.

"If you have lied to me..." She removed her hand leaving the threat in the air before picking up a jog towards her home. Her arrival caused many of the horses to lift their heads and whinny running with her along the fenceline. Nala slipped into the house carefully looking around before kneeling by her mother taking the woman's hand in her own. The two spoke to eachother without words.

Nala moved to her room seeing that Dreyvon had left a bucket of water for her to use by the door. The water was cool against her skin as she washed away the dust and grime from the couple of days of staying out in the forest. She braided her damp hair and changed into a dark grey loose top with dark riding pants and corset. She was slipping on her riding boots when she caught sight of the back stable door opening and Dreyvon stepping out into the light.

Ren Yo / M / 20 / Tradesman / Mentions: Horace, Michael, Dreyvon

Ren had been flying as a frigatebird for the past 5 days now. He’s gotten sick of fish, his stomach churned as he descended onto a cliff. It’s not easy for birds like him to take off from the ground, so usually perching on the edge of a cliff was sensible. Shifting back into his normal form, he missed human interaction. He pulled out the pack he was carrying on him, snatching the map from his hands and a rustic wood-handled pen with ink at the tips. Opening the folded and scrunched up map, Ren drew along the paper. He circled the route he had been on, dipping the pencil in red berry tart he circled part of the route with it. H. The letter ‘H’ was circled and imprinted into the paper. “Yet another hunting party blocked my route,” Ren huffed, leaning back as his legs edged off of the cliff. A sharp whistle pierced his ears as he saw an arrow split the air as it descended down the cliff. It was a close shot, Ren looked around and spotted a scout in the trees. “W-w-wait! I’m a tradesman!” Ren lifted his hands up, showing his gear.

The archer stared daggers at him, speaking in a harsh raspy masculine voice and tone, “You’re filthy shifter is what ye are!” The archer fired another bow, yet Ren dodged it. He was 35 miles out from the border of Fellborn, he just had to make it back in time. It’d take him 15 minutes or so to make it back, that was if he took a detour. Quickly he packed his things up and leaped from the cliff. He shifted back into his bird form, dodging deadly fires every second as he hastily sped towards the village. The hunter wouldn’t give up and ended up sending a good shot, skimming past Ren and making a small paper cut of a scratch along his leg. He knew this would increase in size when he transformed into a human, hopefully, he could get to Fellborn and get someone to heal him without shifting back. Ren saw the village tops, beautiful buildings, humans, and shifters came into sight.

The forest had hidden many secrets, so Ren decided not to land in there. Arriving at the village he scanned the area for Horace. He needed Horace’s mending skills and fast. He looked around, finally spotting the tall male with his shorter friend, next to Dreyvon. The farm was on the outskirts of the town, perfect. Ren dove down by them, just a foot above them as he perched on one of the fences. He made his red pouch puff up, along with his green-hued spikey feathers along his back, getting their attention. The red pouch helped show the cut along his thigh. It was already big enough to be a threat.

Sabine D' Ahma/ female/ 19/ horse/ mentions: Nyx, Mike, Laark, Samuel, Tallin
Sabine was avout to reply to the owl with a rather smart remark, until she heard Nyx let loose a warning shriek. Her horse sense told her something was wrong, danger was near, but Sabine didn't know what it was. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary. She lifted her long nose up into the air and sniffed, nostrils flaring. Horses could smell better than canines in most cases, but what Sabine smelled, she wished she hadn't. Blood. And a Hunter.
She heard Sam's voice, rather strained, from a patch of greenery about 50 yards away. She ran to help him, making sure to stay in horse form so that her human identity would stay a secret. As she galloped, several things happened quickly. Mike flew to assist as well, and so did another shifter in their wolf form.
But things did not end their. This hunter was skilled, and had a deadly weapon. Sabine ran as fast as she could, but watched helplessly as the hubter ran her poison- dagger across Mike and the other shifter, and then held it to Sam's neck.
Sabine screamed in fury, sounding like an angry stallion charging another stallion in a fight. She galloped for all she was worth, coming to a sliding stop, then she turned around in a blink of an eye and kicked the Hunter's hand, sending the deadly dagger flying far through the air. Now that the hunter was without her weapon, Sabine reared up, attempting to strike the hunter with her powerful hooves. "Get out of here!" She screamed at Sam, who was the only ine who hadn't been put out of commission by tge paragliding dagger. She was glad her hoarse/ horse sounding voice disguised her real one. This would be so much easier if I was in my human form. She thought. While she was a pretty decent archer, hand to hand combat was her specialty, and something she truly enjoyed. Hooves just weren't the same, but she would just have to make the best of it. Her identity was more valuable.

Samuel Brooks - male - 20 - game hunter - arctic wolf - mentions: Laark, Mike, Tallin

He froze, but didn't take the arrow away. Poison. Of course hunters were too cowardly to actually kill their victems, they needed to use poison.
"Its hard to trust someone who kills innocents" he snarled.
A flash of pain came to his eyes at the memory of his parents deaths.
They had threatened the hunters, acused them of being monsters after they killed the first shifter; that acusation had caused them their lives.
His eyes moved to Tallin when she spoke, the blood running down her colar sparked his animal instinks. One of his kind was wounded, he needed to fight.
It took all his strength not to lash out and attack the hunter.

"Swear by you're life you'll give them the antidote?" Sam was relieved Nyx had flown away, he didn't know what he'd have done if it was his sister with the poison.
He slowly lowered the arrow but kept his grip firmly on its shaft, if she didn't keep her word he'd spill some of her blood at least.

His gray eyes caught sight of a snowy owl disapear in a hollow of a nearby birch tree, her feathers blending almost perfectly with the white and gray wood. He cursed Nyx, she shouldn't have come back; but at least she was staying hidden.

He stiffened when another shifter appeared, the white horse Sabine. The mare kicked at the hunters hand making the dagger fly away, but besides running like he had said he used his legs to flip the hunter and pin her under him; making sure to keep both her hands pinned. The hunter wasn't strong enough to do the same move when he was probably twice as heavy as her.
"Stop, this hunter has the antidote, we need it" he ordered the horse.
