Chase-Fighter . Chase looked at his patrol partners. Fang seemed to not want to lead. Neither did Chase, he turned to Yarrow. If you want to be Beta then you have to be able to lead he thought. He shook himself. "I'll lead the patrol." He finnaly said. By the looks of it Fang seemed relieved. He turned towards the south. "Lets go!" He barked, and bounded towards the bushes, not even looking back to see if Fang or Yarrow was behind him. . Brute-Hunter . They seemed to stand there for along time without anyone wanting to be the hunt leader. Brute started to get annoyed. "Fine," he finnaly said after along time, "I'll do it." Echo looked happy with that while Kala and Embry didnt say anything yet. "I think we could find some deer or smaller prey up north." He said. "Lets go!"

Oak (mentions Aush and Lillith) / Oak nodded at the Alpha's orders, and trotted over to his group. He yawned the sleep away, and perked his ears up when Lillith spoke to them. He felt slightly annoyed at her lively talking, if not a tad jealous. He barked out a laugh when Aush mentioned catching a young moose. "Hah! Very unlikely. We are too weak to confront an angry mother moose anyway". Oak then remembered that someone is meant to lead. "If noone else wants to, I could lead", he suggested shrewdly. Maybe this could finally be my chance! If I'll manage to guide this group to catching a large animal, Luna could consider making me Lead Hunter. Or even better: a beta!, Oak thought to himself, concealing his eagerness. // Harmony (mentions Hondo and Stratus) / "I prefer to follow orders", Harmony said, "Hondo, maybe you would like to try? You may be young, but you can at least get the experience of leading". Stratus glared at Harmony, which confused her greatly. "What do you think about that, Stratus?", she asked carefully. "Sure", Stratus agreed hesitantly, but his face still dispalyed some inner disappointment, "I agree that Hondo needs to get the experience". // Stratus (mentions Harmony and Hondo) / Damn it, I should've suggested being the leader before Hondo, Stratus thought angrily. But he felt himself calm down. He'll get another chance. Let Hondo try to be the leader. // Yarrow (Chase and Fang) / Yarrow watched as Chase left confidentally. He glanced at Fang, hoping that he didn't mind Chase's abrupt action . Yarrow did not want a disagreement right now. This has been a tough time for them all. So many were lost. Maybe this was Chase's way of coping? "Very well", Yarrow muttered, and started to follow Chase. It's just a border patrol: what could go wrong?

Lilith: Hunter: Mentions her hunting party She acknowledged them. Shaking her tail at the idea of a large prey item. A moose, or buck would be soo nice. Her mouth started salivating. Sky's unwillingness to lead made her tilt her head, she want to lead and didn't understand why she wouldn't. As Oak made their way over the first things she noticed was his snarky rude mood. "I don't think someone being so moody should lead, it could put us in a risky situation." She said, skeptical of how he would lead if he got the chance. She looked over to Aush to get their input, hoping they agreed with her. The tension made her tense a little, nervous.

Shadow | M | Loner Light filtered into the makeshift den, making the black furred wolf twitch. Opening a sleepy eye, Shadow yawned, stretching out his muscles. He bumped his head on the top of his den before shaking off the dirt that rained on his head. The abandoned badger burrow had needed a bit more digging out for Shadow to fit okay but it worked. The badger scent was getting a bit more stale now which was good for anyone who walked past. His own scent wouldn't be made out quite yet unless they stuck their whole head into the hole. Not even a pack wolf was stupid to do that...yet.
Shadow slipped out of the burrow before stretching properly. He sniffed the air and sighed. Spring was close now, meaning food would get more plentiful. His stomach growled a little bit. He had only been able to catch a scrawny squirrel last night so he decided to head towards the meadows today. More chance of running into pack wolves. He shook out his fur before walking over to a dirt pile. It had been the dirt he had cleared out and mainly used it for disguising his scent and fur.
Shadow rolled in the dirt a couple times before rubbing on a tree nearby. Now that he had pieces of bark on his fur and dirt, he looked more brown than black. Resisting the urge to shake out his fur, he trotted into the forest before breaking into a run. He made it to the meadow with no problem although he knew he would have a bit of trouble getting back to his den. Patrols would be out shortly which was a big risk. Not that he didn't like a good fight, but more than two could be quite a handful. He pushed his thoughts back as he saw a rabbit emerge from its hole a couple wolf lengths in front of him.
Crouching down, he stalked forward quietly, hiding in the tall grass. As silently as he could, he stalked downwind of the rabbit before creeping forward again. The rabbit, oblivious to the danger, was nibbling on clover with it's back to Shadow. Shadow paused when he was only a couple feet from it before pouncing. The rabbit didn't have a chance to cry out and he snapped its neck. He lifted his head, checking his surroundings before heading back into the woods. Worming his way under a bush, he ate his fill before stalking back out. He threw dirt over the remains to hide the scent before padding quietly back into the forest.

Aush. Hunter mentions hunting party Aush nodded. " I agree Lilith. She's right we will be more successful with someone who is calm and ready. " she blinked, noticing the cold glare Oak gave her.She shrugged " what? A wolf needs to be in a good mood to hunt " Edited at October 18, 2022 07:02 PM by Dawnforest

(@Applebottomjeans Sky didn't say anything yet lol) (@Dawnforest Oak did not commit the action of 'glaring') / Oak (mentions Aush, Lillith and Sky) / "I am not moody!" Oak retorted, flattening his ears bashfully. "Fine, I won't lead, but then who will?". Oak glanced at Sky. "Maybe Sky should? She is older than any of us", he suggested.

Hondo-Fighter . "Very well." He said a little excitedly. They'd all agreed that he could be the hunt leader. A smile appeared on his face and his tail wagged. "Well lets go then." He told them and they headed off into the forest to patrol their borders. . Chase-Fighter . Chase was still running to try to find his way to the edge of the territory. He could hear Fang and Yarrow running behind him. He still had his worries but this was a way to take his mind off of things. He could hear the crunching of leaves as small prey creatures were zooming to his left side. "Maybe the hunters will get some good food today?" He muttered out loud. He stopped to wait for the others to catch up. Hopefully nothing goes wrong, he started thinking. I'd be all my fault.

(@wolf pride, sorry but a little patience is needed for Fang to be replying to us. You're kinda god modding there :P) / Harmony (mentions Hondo and Stratus) / Harmony followed Hondo, smiling a bit at his excitement. This pack may have went through loss and hardship, but there is a beginning to everything. Spring has happened not just in nature, but also in their pack: all is starting to bloom, like new hopes and opportunities. // Stratus (mentions Hondo and Harmony) / Stratus followed Hondo, with Harmony slightly behind him. He sniffed the air carefully, as well as hopefully. Maybe he'll manage to smell some herds around here, and they'll be able to report that to the hunters? "Smell anything, Hondo?", he called.

Raven | M | Loner | M: Patrols(ind) Raven crept as quietly as he could through the forest. He had gotten up early to scout out where that pack's borders were. He normally kept out of the borders of this pack but he couldn't find any other pack to bug. Raven placed his paws carefully, making sure he didn't step on the rope trailing from his mouth. On the end was a trap, still ready to clamp onto something. The hunters beyond the border wouldn't even know it was gone. He had watched them set it up, not that he could set it up like they could. A monkey or a human with thumbs could come in handy.
Raven stopped as he smelled the pack wolves border before pulling the trap over. He stopped a couple feet in before hiding the rope in the leaves. Covering the rope with leaves a bit more, he uncovered it slightly, moving the rope so it looked to come in the other direction. Placing the trap right beside a bush, he covered it with the bush branches before heading to where he had the rope pointed. Taking a pile of leaves, he placed them in a pile as if they were hiding something. Trotting around the pile, he walked over to the berry bush before dropping some of the berries onto the pile of leaves. Lure has been set.
Satisfied with his work, he walked over to the border and rubbed his scent onto two of the trees. Or the scent that he had on. He had taken the dignity to roll in a pile of fox scat before coming. Finished, he looked back at his trap before smirking to himself. With any luck, they would take the bait and think the pile of leaves was a trap. Going around it the only way they could, they would step right into the actual trap. Raven licked his jaws, time for breakfast. Trotting back to the border, he crossed it before making his way along the line. A fine line indeed. He thought, keeping only a foot between him and the border. Every so often, he would rub the scent onto a tree.

Stratus (mentions Hondo, Harmony and Raven) / While waiting for Hondo's reply, he sniffed the air in more deeply. "Bleurgh!", he gagged, as a strong smell hit his nose, "Foxes!" Harmony raised her head, and scrunched her nose. "Indeed, but that is quite a strong smell. Too strong", she pointed out. Stratus watched her as she searched for the source of smell. She stopped by a tree. "Weird", she muttered, observing the smear of scent on the tree, "Why would a fox smear its... you know what. And so high?" Stratus looked at other trees around them. A similar scent was detectable on another tree, with the same freshness as the previous one. And another. And another one! "A trail!", Stratus gasped. He sniffed in the scent more thoroughly on the other tree. Besides the fox scat, there was another smell. Just barely detectable, but it was there. "A Rogue", Stratus snarled, whipping his head to the rest of the trees, "Couldn't have gone far". Harmony sighed. "Great, we're already having a problem". Stratus' rumbled, reminding him of the intense hunger his pack had to go through. "We gonna catch them before they steal any prey from us", he growled, and shot off through the forest. "STRATUS! REMEMBER WHO IS THE LEADER HERE", Harmony yelled after him, but that was useless. "Damn it, I didn't think Stratus would become this enraged", she said, turning to Hondo, "Let's go get him? Before he gets himself into something messy". ---- Stratus ran through the forest, excitement of this "hunt" propelling him forward. He hadn't felt this kind of adrenaline in ages, it felt refreshing running this fast. And after something! Stupid loner, he thought to himself gleefully, Smearing their smell like this! They're gonna pay for trespassing so boldly! He slowed to a trot, finally stopping. He sniffed the air eagerly. "Where are they", he half-muttered half-growled, as he looked around himself. His eyes landed on a small pile of leaves. Ha! And what is this? He carefully approached it, keeping a distance away from it. It was obviously hiding something. But what? Better not risk it, I may as well go around it, Stratus mused. He started to make his way around it.... . (oooooh the tension, shall this idiotic maiden-in-distress be saved by his packmates? Or foolishly fall into the villain's devious trap?)
