There isn't a deputy)) Zeal || 6 Years & 4 Months || Mare || Herd Mare || With Foal || M: Coyote Herd, Maximus, Astra The dominating clouds looming overhead normally wouldn’t have caused Zeal much concern. However, with being pregnant, the appaloosa mare found herself to be quite skittish at the sight of them. The warm spring breeze that it carried did not help her in the slightest - the smell of impending danger looming within its moist aroma. At the slightest sound, the mare would jump - turning to face the nonexistent threat. She even kicked at some fellow mares by accident. One of these incidents had just occurred - with the mare apologizing profusely to the other female, one of her close friends. The appaloosa takes some deep, shaky breaths as an attempt to calm down. Her breathing and heartbeat soon returned to normal, and she began to graze once more. However, this temporary tranquility did not last long, as the lead mare’s whinny soon rang out amongst the herd members. The female jumps at the sudden sound, but does not lash out this time. At her order, Zeal became paranoid. Astra then takes off, leading the herd up a hill. The herd mare springs into action instantly, but quickly falls to the very back of the herd. An order from Maximus causes fear to prickle along her spine. She does her best to surge forward, but not much is gained from her increased speed. Her belly rocks from the weight of the foal growing within. Mud began to coat her once white and grey legs, turning her once beautiful fur into an ugly brown canvas. Astra continues to push the herd into the mountains, making Zeal panic even more. Please tell me we’ll get out of this weather soon! A strong kick comes to her stomach as she runs, leading to the mare stumbling for just a second. A strong gust of wind whips through her mane, causing her hair to flail in its mighty presence. She glances back at her belly before pushing on. Thankfully, it was still a bit too early for her foal to be born, but that wasn’t the same for one of the other mares. As Zeal caught up with the majority of the herd, she happened to gallop past Astra - who seemed to be in pain. The female appaloosa hesitates at the sight. While she was in no way known for her kindness, she wasn’t heartless. With a sigh, she runs to the mare to try and assist her. I cannot believe that I’m doing this. Astra / Lead Mare / Coyote Herd / 7 Years / In Labour Astra herd hoof beats and opened her eyes slowly, her mane was ruffled and in her eyes so she shook it away. She flicked her ears gently and focused her bold brown eyes on the horse in front of her. "Zeal?" Astra croaked. "You must run, save yourself and your foal, I will be with the herd soon." She glanced down at her belly before giving another cry of pain and a heave of her chest. "Where is Maximus?" Astra asked. "I need him, he must know that I am in labour and won't be with the herd for a while. Please Zeal, please tell him." Astra flopped down again, her hooves working restlessly against thin air. She felt the kicks of her foal but knew that the contractions would not come yet. She must wait in agony, hoping that everything would be alright. Her tail fluttered in the strong wind and she felt the coming storm buffeting her coat. She wished to get to the place she had seen over the ridge but she knew that she could not get up. "Maximus! Where are you." She cried, hoping that amongst the commotion he wiuld hear her cries for help. The last of the herd were now passing her, their breathing coming in sahrp blows and grunts, bur Astra was not listening, she had one stallion she wished for and that was enough to tire her thoughts at that very moment.

Zeal || 6 Years & 4 Months || Mare || Herd Mare || With Foal || M: Coyote Herd, Maximus, Astra, Rain (Referenced) The mare hesitates at Astra’s order. “I can’t just leave you here in this weather,” she shouts over the billowing wind. The same wind that blocked a certain filly’s calls from her ears. Mare stands by the lead female, eyes alert for any sign of danger. While it was tempting to run off and protect herself and her foal, Zeal knew that it was best to stay with the mare - at least until one of the stallions came. Sure enough, Maximus galloped up to the mares - going to rest beside his mate and encourage her during the rough time. The appaloosa took this as her que to leave, cantering to where the rest of the herd was headed. However, she is forced to stop when another strong kick collides with her stomach. She groans - pausing for a few seconds - before moving back into a canter. Out of the corner of her eye, she spies what seems to be another figure. A horse to be exact, by one nowhere near the size of Maximus. Fear tingles along her spine once more as she turns her canter into a gallop. Could this day get any worse? Shiloh | 6 years | Herd Mare | Mentions: Astra, Rain, and Maximus As the clouds closed in and Astra called the herd to get on moving, Shiloh galloped alongside Rain. They galloped in the middle of the herd, she nudged Rain a little, in front of her to prevent from getting separated. Her cream mane tossing through the strong wind. Shiloh noticed Rain's widened eyes and tried to sooth her, "it's going to be alright... just keep moving along." Her voice was like honey, smooth and sweet, driping from her tongue. She knew Rain was having flashbacks from when she saved her not too long ago. What she went through was traumatic and no foal should have to go through that. Shiloh would always protect her and try to help her heal from losing her mother. Shiloh saw Rain as her daughter, it didn't matter that they didn't have the same blood. It didn't matter at all.
As Astra moved the herd down the large valley, Shiloh was about to follow the herd when the lead mare cried before going unconscious. She galloped by her side, concerned, not knowing what to do. She just sniffed her and gave her a gentle nudge, "Astra! Astra!"
When she woke up she backed up and went to look at Rain only for her to disappear. "Rain!" She called frantically only for her to return with Maximus, the lead stallion. "She'll be okay, she's in labor. Stay close and no more wondering off." Shiloh said very seriously, concerned for her safety. It seemed like Maximus had it handled so she gently nudged Rain, "Let's go to the rest of the herd."

Shiloh | 6 years | Herd Mare | Mentions: Rain, Maximus "It's alright, I'm just worried about the storm is all," the mare replied as she muzzle Rain's speckled neck. She raised her head as the lead stallion spoke. "Well good job Rain for notifying. Just tell me where you're going next time." She said with a small smile, her tone less stern. As the rain soaked her sorrel pelt and her cream colored mane she gave Maximus a nod before heading off to the herd. She made sure Rain was by her side as they reunited with the group. This was the worst possible time to be in labor with the storm and all. Hopefully it would clear up soon.

Noche || 4 || Mare || Band || M: Band Noche lifted her dark eyes to the sky and sighed softly as both Cairo and Rowan began circling the rest of the horses, the former taking off at the head and the latter giving orders from the back. The midnight creature took a few long-limbed steps forward and transitioned smoothly from a slow walk to a trot. Noche's tail lifted behind her, swirling back into the wind and hitting her flank. The mare snorted and shifted her position to the middle as directed, casting her eyes round about to locate the others. The little band was not the greatest as far as numbers went, but seven horses was great enough to survive together. That's why she had joined in the first place -- though, warding off the stallions posed a slight challenge. A hard nip and a kick did the trick, usually. Noche dipped her head and tossed it back up, lifting her lips to take in a better idea of what was in the air. Lots of pheromones... oh, the rain's smell tasted almost... bitter. It was normal, really, but it carried a sourness that promised the clouds would not be harbringers of anything good. Perhaps the land would benefit, but the horses... They would not. Noche shifted her gait to an easy lope, nearly catching up to Cairo in the process. Her eyes became focused on his back as he swerved up the hillside, skirting the herd's lands by a wide enough berth to prevent a premature clash, as the stallion called it.

Dez || 6 || Lieutenant Stallion || M: Herd in General, Astra, Rain, Maximus, Shiloh The flaxen chestnut stallion tilted his head as Astra's orders rang out, and he moved into action to enforce the dappled mare's words. He moved at an easy trot around the perimeter, making sure everyone had heard and was following suite, and kept one ear on the herd while the other followed the outside. Dez sidestepped around a couple stragglers. His ears caught an alarmed squeal and he turned to see Astra crumpling to the ground across the meadow. The clouds above them began releasing frail droplets -- not enough to even soak, but the lightweight beads tickled and irritated him. Surely they would do the same to Astra. Dez would have gone down to her, had it not been for Rain breaking away from her dam to get Maximus. Moments later, the lead stallion was with his mate and words were exchanged as Shiloh found the wayward filly. Dez decided that, since it seemed to be all taken care of for the moment, the safest thing to do was keep the herd moving. He hoped the lead mare was strong enough to continue on to higher ground, maybe even to somewhere with more protection from the elements. "Keep going," he urged the others. Maximus would take care of Astra, and if he needed Dez's help then the sturdy stallion would answer. But for now, there was more at stake.
