Desmodus Draculae

Male Dark Dragon || Rider: Arya || M: (Dir) Arya. (Ind) None.

~

Desmodus barely listened to Arya when she started speaking to him, trying his best to block out her voice so he could finally fall asleep. He tried his best to not grumble in annoyance, even tightening his throat up to prevent it from coming out, not wanting Arya to feel upset. He wouldn't want her to think that she shouldn't talk, he just wished she'd know when to talk and when to not, even if it was a quick sentence. Des could barely even comprehend what she said to him due to how exhausted he was right now. He could slightly feel a headache settling in, causing his head to pain as if it was trying to force him to sleep.

Desmodus could feel the hot sunlight beating down on his pelt as it rose up into the sky more, only causing him the want to sleep more. His black fur and him not being used to the heat caused it's rays to burn his pelt, making a few droplets of sweat appear once in a while as they attempted to cool him down. Few clouds made an appearance in the sky, but none dared to float in front of the sun and block it from scorching everything that was present to it's rays. Des would greatly appreciate a bold cloud to help and block the sun so he could sleep, but none would do so.

Desmodus could faintly hear Arya's chewing, probably due to his enhanced hearing ability. She was very quiet, which was wonderful because he was trying to sleep, but he couldn't tell if it was just her chewing, or if she was specifically trying to chew quieter so he could sleep. It didn't matter though, at least she was eating something. She needed to eat something now so she wouldn't be starving later when the rest of the ceremony was going on. Des didn't know what the rest of the ceremony would be, but all he knew is that it would probably be exhausting, and afterwards, he'd need another nap.

Desmodus was actually grateful that Arya was here, and not running away from him. She just sat on the hard ground, right next to him, but he is a giant dragon that could eat her whole. She's a very brave human... It was comforting to have someone who wasn't afraid of him, even if that someone is a human. Now is not time to get all snuggly and cuddly yet, I don't know what this human is capable of doing to me. Then, Desmodus fell into a deep slumber.

Beatrice "Birdie" Brailas
New Rider || Female || Mentions: Keziah, Kenji, Aalis, Rhyor, Hakidonmuya
Indirectly Mentions: None

Beatrice was turned, facing Keziah as she briefly spoke of finding one another later. "I'll be near," she managed to say with a wave of her hands before Keziah was swept away, her attention shifting to her light dragon. As if mimicking her actions, Beatrice's own sight fell back upon Hakimonduya, focusing on her words and the way she dangled the necklace.

She had realized then, upon facing her once more, that perhaps her gift wasn't the.. most thought out. Hakimonduya would not be able to wear it, for her tail and wrists were far too thick. It could rest atop her spikes if she desired, or better yet, she could tuck it away with her other treasure. Did dragons even keep treasure, or was that simply a myth? Beatrice supposed that she would have to find out later.

'Despite my.. weakly thought out gift, I'm glad that you like it,' Beatrice admitted with a tinge of self-criticism. The way the lunar dragon spoke of it made it seem as if it were the most valuable thing in the world, and despite being saddened at having to part ways with it, she knew that she had made the right decision. There was no doubt about it. Hakimonduya appeared to be someone who held a genuine appreciation for the intricacies of life. Even given the way she spoke of life and passing knowledge down, it was truly inspirational.

'You will achieve your goals, I have full confidence,' she chimed. 'Hell, you've motivated me with a few sentences, and I've only known you for less than an hour.' After a moment of reflection, Beatrice's curiosity got the best of her. 'What are some wordly experiences you've encountered?' A pause. 'I haven't had much experience of my own, but you? You speak as if you've lived dozens of lives at once. It's beautiful.'

Beaming, she continued to study Hakimonduya, nodding along to her words when the conversation had shifted to being nocturnal, and what it meant to be a lunar dragon. A small snort had briefly (and accidentally), escaped Beatrice when her dragon spoke of the sun being a "bright ass ball of gas". It was something that had caught the girl off guard to the point where a gruesome noise escaped her throat. It was something between a chuckle and a wheeze, a sound that had continued momentarily the more her dragon spoke. Needless to say, Beatrice had not expected her dragon to be so bold, though she wasn't complaining. In fact, it calmed her nerves.

'You and I are more alike than I thought. I, too, can be quite the bitch when sleep deprived,' she chirped, clearly amused with her dragon's words. 'Duly noted,' she continued when speaking of her preferences. 'We will get you your shade, moonstones, and undisturbed naps. I promise you that.' In the midst of the conversation, Bea had briefly glanced to Kenji and Keziah, wondering what they were conversing about before shifting her attention back to the lunar dragon.

'They are fun friends,' she began. 'I adore them, annoying as they can be.' She paused, rethinking. 'By annoying, I speak predominately of Kenji.' Jesting, Beatrice shook her head upon the mention of any others within their group before pausing. 'There is Shiro as well, Kenji's brother. He should be easy enough to identify given the fact that, well, he's Kenji's twin.' -- 'Did you arrive with any companions of your own?' She glanced around the valley, noting the different dragons. 'I know some flew in together, like Keziah's light dragon and that.. other female over there.' Motioning to Nava, Beatrice also directed her gaze to the squad leader's water dragon. 'She seems to know a few individuals as well..'

Trailing off, her gaze snapped onto Hakimonduya when a low growl was sounded from the lunar dragon's chest, her spikes extending upon her tail. It was a fascinating sight to see, had Beatrice not been the cause of it. Well, perhaps she wasn't directly, but she played a large part. Her and her idiotic idea to take on a dragon, for Kenji no less. It was a bad move on her end, for it showed how much she actually cared for him.

'You should have seen the way the stick broke,' she sighed out before offering a grin. 'I should have used a bigger one, huh?' Joking, Beatrice nodded when the lunar dragon spoke of finding some shade, to which she took a step with her. 'Do you mind if I come, I enjoy conversing with you, and the shade isn't all too far.'

Cryosphere || Male || 117 || New Ice Dragon || M: Isobel, Nava, Ryker (Ind), Others (Ind)

Cryosphere rumbled as his newly bonded rider released a pained gasp, his head coming back down to examine her form much closer while his bright eyes met her own shaded blue ones. Confusion washes over him at the expression held within them – excitement. Vastly different from what she expressed through her gasp. Was he, perhaps, still a bit too cold for such contact? Or was it something else?

A simple ‘I’m okay’ flutters in from their new formed bond, peppering his mind like the soft falling of snowflakes. It was a strange feeling for his skull to endure, but not one that he was opposed to. Though, he couldn’t help but arch a “brow” at such a confirmation – not at all missing the little shudder she gave. But, even still, he said not a word.

An amused huff of air is, however, spurred from the icy beast at her initial rambling – likely frosting her hair to the slightest degree. He moves to lay down as she continues, keeping his head low and within eye level. And nodding to both of her questions, of course, even if they did cause him to chuckle lightly. Honestly, he found the whole thing to be quite endearing. A cute little display from his new found companion. But what touched him the most was the action of pulling her sleeves over her hands. He couldn’t help but let out a little purr-like song at the sight of it.

The continuation of the blonde haired girl’s “speech” began with an apology for her amusing yet overused pun. Yes, he did indeed laugh at it. Possibly startling her with its rumbling grow-like nature. The fan of his tail raised up in a fashion similar to signal that it was alright (similar in fashion to the actual human gesture). At the mention of Nava, the icy blue reptile simply nods his head to his human’s assumption and turns his head to glance at the aforementioned female.

He wasn’t too surprised at the sight beheld. The pastel pink being was a little ways behind him (which he was grateful for, even if he wasn’t feeling particularly territorial at the moment… Okay, maybe just a hair.), staring at her bonded who had chosen to visit others instead of follow along. He could all but feel the unease notion she felt, being so far away from her newly bonded. And he wasn’t about to let that last.

The gray-blue dragon rumbles gently, brushing the grass before the crystalline female’s wings with his tail to grab her attention. Once he obtained it, he nodded his head towards the black haired fellow, his friends, and their dragons. A small signal followed by another, reassuring rumble. His way of saying, ‘go, I can handle this’ as well as a slow blink for a ‘thank you.’

A sudden stop to Isobel’s rambling caused Cryo to turn his attention back on the main interaction at hand, watching as she put a hand over her mouth (an action that caused him to momentarily tilt his head). A quick succession of statements follow afterwards, only leading the male further down the rabbit hole of confusion. Said words would also be a bit… trickier to respond to, and they certainly required one. Talking wasn’t an option. And he likely just sent off the only one who could speak for him – that he was comfortable asking, anyway. Writing, naturally, was an option. But would she be able to understand it with its inherently large size?

Shrugging his shoulders lightly, he decides to give it a go. Reaching out a single claw, he angles himself as to where his blue and gold eyed companion wouldn’t have to move much to see it. Staining himself slightly, he starts out slow after thinking back on what he nearly missed while sending his crystal-like friend(?) off – writing as small as he physically could.

‘Not annoying. Funny and adorable, actually,’ he wipes and begins again, ‘I am Cryosphere. But Cryo is fine,’ another wipe, another writing, ‘Nice to meet you, Isobel. And sorry for the chill.’

Allowing her time to take in such information, the gentle being then chooses a new area to write instead of erasing again. ‘Life before was harsh. Survival was everything. Few friendly encounters. Even fewer acquaintances,’ seafoam eyes glance to the side as his writing pauses. That was the bare minimum of what he had undergone in his numerous years. The tip of the iceberg. Literally. But, that story would be for another time.

With a huff of chilling air, he brings his head back up and waits for a response – his eyes glance back and forth between his ‘words’ and the human before him.

Kenji Bozzeli

New Rider | M | Mentions: Teg, Shiro, Keziah, Aalis, Beatrice [ind].

Directly mentions: Rhyhor, Keziah, Clarabelle

From where Kenji was held, he could see his brother getting tossed around like a rag doll. That’ll show him. He thought. Upon his brother's landing, he could see his lean figure running away before getting himself knocked and pinned to the ground beneath his dragon's talons. It seemed they were playing a game of some sort? Which Kenji would find a twinge odd, considering his brother did not seem the type. Despite this, Kenji was laughing at his brother for deciding to follow him, and getting stuck with a dragon almost the complete opposite of his personality. Oh boy, would Shiro be getting a run for his money with this dragon. Turning back his attention to his own dragon, Kenji nodded, “You’ll be the first to know when I want him dead,” he chuckled.

I doubt his ‘buzzard’ would be any match for you, so you could make it quick when the time comes, eh?” Bringing a hand up to his mouth, Kenji did his best to suppress a snicker at his own comment. His gaze floated to his best friends, noticing another large figure in the area, a Light dragon had made its appearance. “Ah yes, I do hope that is the light dragon you speak of, for Keziah’s sake. Though I'm sure Birdie’s dragon will also come around in time,” he responded. Giving the storm dragon a sympathetic pat on the talon he was still held in. Sharing a look between the two girls, his dragon’s half-compliment left Kenji cracking a smile on his face, “I suppose Rhyhor is a decent name too,

From where Rhyhor held him he could see Beatrice introducing what seemed to be him and Keziah, as he had done to his dragon with her. He could see her take a step towards her dragon as his own moved a step closer to her. His attention was quickly shifted once more to his other friend, as Keziah called out to him. "Kenji, you, and I can all catch up about today!" It seemed as if she was leaving somewhere with her dragon, and in return, he shot her an enthusiastic nod, “Of course, Keziah!

In Birdie’s direction, he could faintly hear his name, and then something followed shortly after with the mention of a ‘stick’ perhaps referring to the earlier incidents of the day. Honestly, something Kenji would never forget. The moment kept replaying in his head and he would randomly let out a little noise similar to a laugh whenever he mentally saw Birdie hit Rhyhor with a stick.

Watching his friend leave, he spotted a familiar face wandering around in the crowd. “Rhyhor, I confess, I have forgotten to tell you about one of my friends, or rather, cousins.” Kenji spoke, putting both hands up in defense, “Clarabelle, I may have mentioned to her about my coming, but I can’t remember, perhaps she looking for me?” In her direction he frantically waved for a moment, perhaps he could get the girl's attention. If she were to look in his direction now she would see Kenji half twisted in his dragon's grasp, hair static, and him frantically waving at her.

Borealis Alarie

Female Rider || Dragon: Xyron || M: (Dir) Xyron. (Ind) None.

~

Borealis could see the immense differing in emotions just by looking into Xyron's eyes. She never knew dragons had feelings almost just like a human would; she always thought that they only cared about hunting, killing, and eating things. Dragons were such unique creatures in more than just appearance, but now personality. She could hear the loving tenderness in Xyron's voice as he spoke his mate's name, and it was obvious he cared for her greatly. They had probably been together for so long, and have been through so much together. "Well, what does she look like? Maybe I can try and find her?"

There was a sudden change in the dragon's expression that surprised her, but just because she wasn't expecting him to change from one expression to a completely different one that fast. He seemed to have a now curious, and thoughtful expression, mixed with tons of other unidentifiable emotions. His crimson gaze seemed to always hold a varying amount of emotions in it whenever she looked, but they could all seemingly change in the blink of an eye. He held a calm and gentle voice when he spoke again, which he was probably using that tone in a comforting way in case she was feeling stressed.

The moment Xyron said that sentence, Borealis suddenly realized how much of a change this was for her. Now, she was bonded with a dragon, and was now probably never able to go home. She probably would have to live here now, and train with Xyron until they both know what they're supposed to do. Sounds like a really fun adventure! She honestly did not want to say that to Xyron, because he'd probably look at her like she's insane since probably every other person here was undergoing lots of stress. "I'm doing fine. I really hate being in crowds though, I don't know why."

After Borealis said that, her gaze swapped towards the clouds. A few dragons flew around in the sky in the corner of her eye, but she wasn't paying attention to them. She was more interested in watching the puffy white clouds float around in the sky, even though she couldn't see them moving. She always loved watching the clouds, even though they didn't do much. She was always amazed by how they looked so much like white cotton candy, and she always wondered if they were fluffy like cotton candy too. One day, I'm gonna touch one and find out myself.

Borealis' gaze then swapped back to Xyron, who's golden scales were glimmering due to the sun. The sunlight seemed determined to make his scales shine, even going through the leaves of the tree he sat underneath to do so. "Did your family also have gold scales like you do?" She could tell that the dragon was examining her as he sat underneath his tree; he probably was trying to best to study her from a distance that he considered safe. She was definitely more comfortable with him over there, because now if he wanted to attack, she could at least try and run the best she could. She highly doubted that he would suddenly be aggressive towards her, but it's better safe than sorry.

Clarabelle

Female | New Rider | Dragon: Navi | Mentions: (directly) Kenji, Rhyhor. (Indirectly) Navi

As Clara watched the crowd, she saw a small human, waving, in the grasps of a dragon. Focusing more on them, Clarabelle recognized Kenji. Of course, it would be him. A grimace twisted on her face, he looked… odd. His waving seemed distraught and his hair was staticky? But then again, it was always messy, her eyes must be playing tricks on her. Clara waved awkwardly back, standing there, debating whether or not she should head to him. Curiosity won the battle and she slowly picked her way over to them.

She approached cautiously, something told her that this dragon was not as friendly as her own. Navi was so gentle and kind, this dragon seemed every bit the opposite. Now, Clara desperately wished Navi was here with her. At the same time, she didn’t want Navi to think of her as weak. Clara wasn’t too far from Navi but she knew the bond between them was still too weak to communicate across. Her thoughts drifted with Navi for a brief moment more until she stood directly in front of Kenji and his dragon. His hair was in fact staticky, not just his normal messy. It was quite an amusing sight to see her tall cousin scooped up, looking tiny while being held by his dragon. She couldn't help but stifle a smile at the contrast.

“Hi Kenji,” she greeted, her voice steady despite her racing heart. Clara’s attention shifted to the towering dragon that held her cousin captive. Up close, the dragon was even more awe-inspiring. His muscular body was a dark, stormy gray, marred by pale scars that hinted at countless battles. His head was adorned with horns, two large ones rising just above his eyebrows. A jagged array of horns of varying sizes began at the midpoint of his head, tracing a dangerous path down the spine. What was most frightening was his eyes were devoid of pupils, a mesmerizing white-blue color. How peculiar, she thought, soaking in every detail.

Recollections of Kenji's prior mention of him and Shiro coming to the Academy resurfaced. Back then, the idea of her cousins joining her at the Academy was exciting. But reality had its own weight, and the sight before her was a testament to that. This was no longer a distant prospect; this was the presence of a dragon that meant business. “I am going to assume that this is your dragon, and that you aren’t about to be a snack?” Yet. He won’t be a snack, yet. Her voice held light humor, washing away the fear and tension she felt running in her body.

Navi : F : New Dragon
Dream Class : Rider: Clarabelle
M: Clarabelle, Rhyor, Kenji(Ind.)

Navi twitched slightly, stirring a bit from her sleep. She could faintly feel something through her link with Clarabelle, but it was too muddled and faint for her to properly make out what it was. She knew her rider felt... something of discomfort. But she couldn't identify what it was about or what was causing it. Rousing herself slightly, she opened one glittering orb to inspect the girl. Something in the tension of her posture made her think either the human or the dragon was making her rider feel this way. 'Hmm...' she thought, debating whether or not to go over. Not that she was much good if it came to a fight, and she prayed it wouldn't, but she could at least be a comforting presence for her new rider. But tiredness was dulling her thoughts and senses, so she shrugged slightly to herself before closing her eye and returning to sleep. She knew she desperately needed this sleep, particularly because of the fact that she tended to side more towards being nocturnal rather than diurnal, or even crepuscular. She could be diurnal when needed, of course, however she slept better during the day and was more active at night. When it came to sleeping at night, the female struggled to still herself enough to sleep. She often ended up tossing and turning, and her sleep was fitful.

Xyron

Psyche Dragon | Male | New Dragon | Rider: Borealis | Mentions: (directly) Borealis

Xyron's hesitation was palpable as he considered Borealis' question about Nuria. He couldn't deny the undercurrent of distrust that swirled within him. Despite these reservations, he managed to push those thoughts aside for the moment, prioritizing Borealis' feelings. His eyes, vibrant and knowing, met hers with a mix of sympathy and reassurance. "It's okay to be anxious, little rider," he grumbled softly. The connection between them pulsed with emotions, a new thread that they were both learning to navigate. He could feel her tension, her worries, and her hopes, all interwoven with his own. His gaze followed hers to the shifting clouds, thinking for just a moment. As Borealis' eyes returned to him, Xyron's expression softened. He watched her closely as she examined his vibrant golden scales, her curiosity evident in her gaze. He pondered her question about his origins, a complex tapestry of memories and emotions. He thought of his parents, fierce and regal, their wisdom and strength etched into his very being.

Shaking his head, sadness crept into his body. "My mother, Elysia..." he began, his tone contemplative. "Was nothing less than majestic. She was a Light Dragon. Her coloration was an elegant fusion of pinks, purples and oranges, reminiscent of the dawn sky. Her wings were expansive and formidable. She had delicate patterns on her wings, intricate swirls that blended seamlessly.” He paused, his eyes distant as he reminisced. "Her eyes were similar to mine, a warm scarlet color. I suppose some of the gold came from her as well.” Xyron’s gaze stared into the distance, no longer looking at Borealis. “My father, Vorion, was a monstrous sized dragon.” His gaze moved quickly around the area, “Bigger than any of the dragons here. He was a force of nature that commanded respect wherever he went. He was a Lunar Dragon. His scales, a deep and rich shade of midnight blue, seemed to absorb the very essence of the night sky.” Xyron’s deep voice was steady as he reflected, “His wings were broad and powerful. His entire body bore the scars of battles he had fought. His eyes were the color of the deepest abyss, black as a moonless night.”

Xyron’s scarlet eyes darted to Borealis again, surprise riddling his body. He hadn’t talked about his family in years, let alone to a human. His family died from humans during a time where humans were still scared of dragons. Before the time when dragons and humans became one- as partners, as companions. Xyron's words hung in the air, a tale woven with memories and emotions. But this was a leap of faith for Xyron, a moment where he was extending his trust and vulnerability. He didn’t mean to become so reminiscent and open, it annoyed him. Yet, Xyron couldn’t stop himself from sharing his parents. He could have easily just said no and left it at that, but he wanted to share this with Borealis. Xyron knew if he wanted this bond to work and to grow, he had to trust his rider. Even if everything in him - everything he was taught - screamed at him not to. He knew in the coming days, he would be openly defying what was ingrained into him.

Kaia Seelen
Squad Leader | Male | Mentions: K'issuk, Tęgomir, Shiro

The man had settled down near the edge of the forest to watch the gathering from a distance. K'issuk had gone off to talk to the fire dragon, and had warned Kaia to stay away; a decision Kaia took with no humour, mind you. He didn't particularly feel like being fried that day.

In his time studying the crowd, he watched as pairs were made. Some dragons were kinder than others, such as a feathered air dragon that was playing quite roughly with his apparent rider. Kaia watched as he dropped the rider and caught him just before they both smacked into the ground. He even found it in himself to wince as he watched the rough play continue, figuring the rider was going to have a good few bruises, if not broken bones, by the time the first ride was done.

And then he heard K'issuk, unmistakeable to his ears, send out a shrill whistle of warning. Something warm and loving settled over his chest at a sound from his dragon, and a small smile grew on his face. He watched the pair warily, though, just in case. And, as fate would have it, Kaia was forced to drag himself up to a standing position, sighing as he watched the pair take K'issuk's warning and practically throw it away.

The man glanced over to his water dragon, hearing her voice in his head. 'I'm gonna go make sure this air dragon doesn't kill his rider, and then I'll be right over,' he responded, figuring K'issuk had it handled for the time being. At one point, when the rider had taken off and the dragon given chase, Kaia had to jog to make a timely approach to them, watching with a grin and a soft laugh as the dragon flopped around on the floor for a few minutes after trying to walk on two legs.

"Hey fellas, I'm Kaia Seelen, your Squad Leader," Kaia called as he got closer, hoping an early verbal announcement would stop either of them from spooking as he approached. "I gotta ask, please be gentle with your rider and other people, humans are pretty fragile compared to dragons," Kaia said to the dragon, trying (and failing) to keep the chuckle and amusement from his voice.

When Kaia got close enough to the rider, he blinked, and his jaw slackened. "Shiro?" He asked, furrowing his brows, a smile tugging at his lips. "Holy shit, and I thought seeing Kenji here was a trip."
