Tove Bjorn | 19 | Female | Gatherer | Snow Leopard | M: Coal, Sabine
-
The frame was outlind by the fire as she sat in the middle of the room. She had tucked her legs up to her chest, surrounding them with her arms, pulling them close. She squeezed them tightly, her broad arms flexing with muscel as she tensed. Singular streams of tears strolled lightly down her pale face, outlining her cheek beofre dripping down into a puddle on the wooden floor. Her lip quivered and nose ran, the occasional sniffle gave the room sound, other than the crackling of the fire.
-
She had gone to see her brother about the reoccuring nightmares, hoping he'd have a remedy but also hoping those dreams were just a warning. As she spoke to the medic, she learned he had not seen her brother since he left in a raging fit. Tove's knees seemingly collapsed beneath her. There was a pain in her chest that hurt like no other, she grabbed the left side of her muscular chest. Her mouth open, whispering a yell that could barely make its way out, instead coming out in fragments, and much more muted. Her eyes wide with fear, sadness, anger. Anger. lots of anger.
-
Tove had somehow made it back into her house, she didnt know how, she didnt know why. Her chest still physically hurt. Her nose runny from the crying, eyes red and puffy. She wasnt hungry nor thirsty, nor could she seek revenge on the person she dislikes the most at the moment. It was all true and it hit Tove like a ton of bricks. She was always drawn back to the fire, so free and wild, barely controlled, like Tove, but with one singular breath it could all be extinguished.

Sabine D'Ahma/ female/ 19/ scout/ horse/ mentions: Coal, Tove
Sabine lowered her daggers completely, as ge explained himself. He'd never killed anyone he said. He could be telling a lie, but for some reason, Sabine trusted him... He looked truthful, and innocent of any blood.
.
Before she could get a comment in- smart or otherwise- he turned and set off in the direction that the girl, Tove, had stormed off in. Sabine sheathed her daggers and followed him across the creek.
.
When he kept talking, Sabine realized she'd accidentally given her name to him. Agghh! What is wrong with me? Sabine mentally kicked herself again. She needed to be more careful, and she usually was, but for some reason, she felt her guard that she always had up, slipping a little. Get a hold of yourself! Next thing, you'll be telling him the sob story about your family's death and whatever! She growled to herself.
.
"Coal, huh? Well, I would say it's nice to neet you, but I haven't decided if it actually is yet." She finally replied, her voice dripping with the wry comment. It was fun, them both shooting sarcasm at each other, it kept Sabine waiting for his next response, wondering what he'd say next, and proud of herself for replying with comments that were just as snarky.
.
She shifted into her horse form, she could track better as a horse, as well as cover more ground. She looked in the direction that Tove had gone, that was the direction of town, but it was pretty far away... At least an hour's walk... But not for Sabine... She turned to Coal. "I think I know where she might be... But It's all the way back to town. Need a ride?" She offered. She would have to shift back just before they got to town, because a large white horse being ridden without a saddle or bridle, straight into town, would be rather suspicious. But the good thing is, most of the hunters were out in the woods anyway.
.
Sabine pawed impatiently as she waited for Coal to decide wether he wanted to ride or not, but as she did, a sharp pain went through her shoulder. She winced. "Ooof. Forgot about that." She said as she craned her neck and looked at her shoulder. It had stopped bleeding, but it was still an ugly open wound.

Coalstin | 19 | Male | Hunter/Tracker | M: Tove, Sabine

"Oh, is that so? Well, here's your answer: It is an honor to meet me. You're lucky." He said, grinning. Her daggers were lowered, and with the gesture, he was put at ease once again. Although he could not dispell of the slight twinge of guilt in the back of his mind. He didn't choose a hunter. He had enjoyed his time in the army - he had a purpose. But when he had been dispatched to Fellborn, by the moment he realized what his purpose was, it was too late to turn back.

Beside the young man, Sabine shifted. He flinched, instinctively. Years of training had buried itself deep into the roots of his mind, subconsciously. Ah - so a horse. Some sort of draft breed. A Baroque type horse, and potentially crossed with a Clydesdale. Years of working around the cavalry had proved quite helpful.

She seemed to know Tove's location, and offered a ride. I would make sense - they could cover far more ground that way. But it had been a while since he had ridden a horse. He straightened his shoulders, making a decision.

"That'd be great," he said, offering a smile.

Suddenly, she twisted and winced. A gaping wound was slashed across her shoulder - it appeared quick painful. He grimaced. "You alright?" He asked, frowning.

(sorry Raven, we're coming >.<)

Sabine tossed her head up in irritation. "Yeah, it's fine. Just a little tender." She passed it off like it was just a scratch, but it really hurt her more than she let on.
.
She knelt down into a bow to allow him to get on- that had seemed to work well for Tallinn. Once he was on, she set off a a walk, and then moved to a slow trot. She sensed that he was slightly nervous, so she tried to keep it slower and less jolting, but her injury made her gait choppy and un-rhythmic, which was just the opposite from her normal gait.
.
"You okay?" She glanced up at him after a couple hundred yards. "I'm not one-hundred percent sure she went to town, more like seventy percent... So anytime you feel like rendering you tracking services, ya know, that would be nice." She said, intending for that to sound sarcastic, but instead it sounded like a normal sentence, but the point was still there. Care to lend a hand?
.
(Also, Boundless, sorry for slightly controlling him to where I assumed he would get on... I didn't really have much to go off of, so I wrote it kind of in advance. You know what I mean? Again, sorry if you felt like that was slightly controlling!)

(No, you're not controlling ^^ I figured you didn't have a lot to work off of, but I ran out of time and had to finish my post abruptly, sorry!)

Coal raised an eyebrow. "Mhm. Sure." He said, in regards to her wound. It did appear rather painful. Even looking at it made him instinctively wince. She kneeled into a bow, and Coal slid onto her back, winding his fingers into her coarse, long mane. Sabine started forward, and although the injury made for a choppy ride, he enjoyed it. Coal had forgotten how relaxing being atop a horse was, when not charging through the woods at a frantic gallop.

She checked on him a few yards out, and he almost jump. It was a little unnerving, to have a horse talk to you.

"Fine. Life is going great - you?" He asked, grinning cheerfully.

"Only seventy percent? Oh, this is gonna be fun, isn't it? If we get end up ambling into the chapel's Sunday service, I'm completely blaming it on you for staining the carpets with muddy hoofprints," he joked lightly, a haughty, bright smile on his features.

"I reckon she's in the woods - somewhere. Probably bordering the town. Her pawprints lead forward, but I'll bet the veer off soon - I think I saw a cabin a while back. That's our best bet. Left turn here?"

Maximillian Trujillu

Masculine / 28 / Hunter / Mentions: Artem, Yarene, Peerance

A gold rush of the midnight's harsh wind bit at Maximillian's face. His nose barely shading a pink coloration. The only thing keeping his warmth was his usual tolerance to cold, the mounds and heaps of furs that applied to him, and Yarene's closeness. He laid his head back against the Yak, staring at the cold roof of the cave they resided in. Everything he looked back on, everything he used to adore as a child. The simple things. It all started to piece together. His sisters, all at the dinner table scowling at eachother as they all held grudges. Why? That memory was vague. Perhaps it was because one of them just wouldn't give up the doll and they ended up breaking it. Or maybe Max did? His ways of solving problems back then were full of stupidity. He could remember the crackling sounds of a weakened fire so vividely. The creaking oak walls groaning as the wind pushed so violently against it.

His father, sickly at the time, and his mother out at the village inn to grab ale, they were practically alone. And when the door swung open to a pair of unfamiliar shapes, Maximillian's heart dropped. Even now, thinking back, it still panged with grief. Turning on his side, he felt Yak's body shift in weight, noticing his movement and practically toppling over him. "AUGH," He huffed as the yak applied an immense amount of its weight onto him. "Cant-breathe-" He puffed, tapping on Yak's shoulders with the last amount of muscle he had left in him. A soft snort emerged as Yarene noticed, getting off of Maximillion and sending him a sleepy, apologetic glance.

"You'd better feel bad," Max mused begrudgingly before turning over on his side, the pelts along his shoulders toppling over his face as he laid parallel to the fire. The familiar crackling sounds brought back both bad and good memories, melancholy and joyful. Nostalgic... and yet blurred. The heat pressed against his face now as he brushed against the yak's side. Who would've thought he'd be taking care of a shifter, amidst a valley of hunters. He smuggled a shifter. Truly something credible right? He never got enough praise for doing so.

Yarene always gave away her overly intelligent glares to others anyway. A small grin subsided on his features as he thought back to when he first found the young girl. Covered in black ash, he thought she was a corpse as to how skinny she was. Just skin and bones. To where her origins lied were unknown, but that didn't matter to him. She was like his adopted sister. Perhaps that's why he kept her so high-valued. She replaced a small fragment of what was broken.

Sabine D'Ahma/ female/ 19/ Shifter/ Horse/ Mentions: Max (indirectly), Laark (indirectly), The shifter group (indirectly)
.
Sabine stared into the flames as they licked over the wood, ever hungry, never satisfied. She carefully added a log to the fire, inciting a flurry of sparks to fly up. She crossed her legs and sat down, recounting all the insane things that had happened to her in the last 48 hours. Yesterday morning had started out so simple, and then Sabine and her friends were fighting for their lives against hunters.

.
They had taken refuge in a remote cave for the night, but Sabine herself had not stayed. She had gone for a poisoned dagger to keep it from falling back into Hunter hands. And then she had been attacked by a giant of a man with an even bigger temper. She had held her own, but the fight had wounded her significantly before she could escape. She had one doozy of a headache, bruises all over, and one large shoulder wound that had a narrow gash winding around to her back.
.
She winced at the thought, and the present pain in her shoulder flared up again now that she was thinking about it. It was healing nicely, her mother's salve was doing wonders, but no matter how good your medicine was, deep wounds took time to heal. And time seemed to be something Sabine didn't seem to have much of.

.
The morning after the fight in the dark, she had stumbled upon two people that were very unlikely friends. Hunter and Shifter. But this Hunter was different. Nice, thoughtful. He didn't seem malicious at all. Sabine had even given him a ride in her horse form, so that he could go after the other shifter and talk to her. After that, Sabine had left him and ventured back into town to get some replacement weapons made. She knew the blacksmith personally and he knew her secret, so he was making them for her. She would pick them up tomorrow at dawn.
.
Sabine brushed aside a lock of her wild red hair and continued to stare into the fire as she sorted out what she would need to do the next couple of days. Would the Hunter who'd fought her recognize her? Maybe not, but he could still be tracking her. She needed to stay hidden, but keep moving long enough to throw him off of her trail before going anywhere. Maybe she could even stay gone. Say goodbye to this town. Nothing was keeping her here. It was crawling with people who wanted to kill her. So why was she staying?
.
Whatever she decided, she was going to take a serious detour and lead whoever might be following her on the scenic route through the mountains. Then she would decide whether to head back to Felborn or to go to a different town where no one knew her- and more importantly- no one wanted to kill her.

.
Sabine lay down in her cave and closed her eyes, settling into a dreamless, restful sleep that she knew she would need in the days to come. She was going to be hunted. And prey needed to stay sharp.

Two weeks later!
.
Sabine DD'Ahma/ female/ 19/ scout/ shifter/ horse/ Mentions: Max, Sam, Nyx (All indirectly)
.
Sabine awoke at first light, welcoming the fresh morning air and the promise of the new day. Her shoulder had healed almost completely now, and it was time to come out of hiding. She had evaded the hunters for two weeks now, not lingering in one spot long enough to even see if she was being tracked or not. She had traveled on, staying in caves or large trees during the day, and traveling at night. Last night had been the first night she'd actually slept instead of traveling.

.
Confident she had shaken whatever tracker that may have been following her, Sabine was eager to journey back to Felborn. She wondered what had become of Nyx and Sam. What had the Hunters done in her absence? Who could she trust now? Sabine dropped out of the enormous oak she had taken refuge in and shifted into her horse form. She could cover more ground and be back in Felborn within two days.

.

On the morning of the second day of travel back to Felborn, Sabine found herself within five miles of the town. She stopped, hesitant to go any further, for the fear of the unknown that she was walking into. She had been gone for so long. Would she be suspicious coming back after so long? Maybe she wouldn't have been noticed that much. There were plenty of people in town, and besides, she could say she was on a long hunting trip, or perhaps visiting family in another town. Although anyone who knew Sabine would know she was lying about the later excuse. All of her family was dead.

.
Sabine's heart began beating faster when she looked up and realized where she was. The same exact spot where that Hunter had tried chaining her to a tree two weeks earlier. Sabine saw her hoofmarks gouged into its trunk. She shifted back into her human form, cloaked and masked, and reached up, tracing the gouges with her slender fingers. This was why she left she realized. The fear of this hunter drove her away. But now she was back. She would run no longer. It was time to face who she was, and what she would have to do if she wanted to live, truly live.
