Sky's eyes followed Alex's movements. He felt his heart warm up when he noticed that Alex was claiming the empty seat beside him. He was still too furious with what Alex's father did to smile. "Don't say it isn't bad, it looks pretty fucking bad to me. Your lip is cut for Christ's sake." Skylar said, his voice a whisper with anger and worry in his tone. With his gaze locked on Alex, his eyes looked down to his lips. The cut was knarly, and the bruise was huge. His father must have hit him hard. It made Sky wonder if Alex told the truth. Sky wasn't about to ask, he already felt bad enough. It was all Sky's fault. Taking a deep breath, his eyes left Alex's face for just a moment before returning.

Honestly, Alex wasn't sure where this newfound courage was coming from. After what had happened last night, he should be keeping his distance for a multitude of reasons, and yet he found himself doing the exact opposite. Was he still angry and upset... yeah. But he'd had all night to think about how he was partially responsible for what had happened. He knew what his father was like, knew that the guy could say something at dinner. He hadn't warned Skylar, nor had he made the call to call off the dinner the moment he'd realized Skylar was drunk. So... what had happened last night was on him, and he figured the bruise and cut lip were his punishment for that and for hurting Sky, which he was well aware he had done by rejecting who he was and denying his sexuality. Slipping his bag from his shoulder, Alex set it down on the ground and leaned it against his leg before he leaned back in his seat. When Skylar spoke, Alex looked over at him, pausing at his words before he did his best to give a nonchalant smile, wincing ever so slightly. "I think it could have been a lot worse... I told him what he wanted to hear... and with my mom there, he didn't do it again." He said after a moment, letting his gaze rest on Skylar.

With Alex's reply, Sky knew it woulda been way worse, especially if he lied. Sky couldn't even be upset at him for lying. Sky could only imagine how bad his dad would be if Alex told the truth. Wincing at the thought, he turned away from Alex. Looking back at Alex, he had a look of empathy on his face. He felt bad, really bad about everything. "I'm sorry my love." Sky said quietly, making sure only Alex heard. His eyes locked onto Alex's, refusing to look at his bruise. He wanted to reach up and caress his cheek, but he knew Alex wouldnt appreciate it. It only made Sky feel worse. He hated that they had to be a secret, but knew that he'd get treated terribly by his own father if he came out. Sky couldn't make him come out... not after last night.

Talking to his dad last night had been difficult. He hadn't really given him the chance to say more than a couple of words at a time before launching into him with a long-winded verbal assault. That, Alex was used to. Words he knew how to deal with, and so he'd done what he always had, praying that it would work. Fortunately for him, it had, and a few hours later, he'd been dismissed and allowed to go to bed. As much as he'd hated it, it had served as a lesson learned. Before last night, he hadn't ever thought his father would hit him... help, he'd even considered how to come out and tell his parents that he was gay. His desire to do so had grown after meeting Skylar, but now... he didn't even want to think about it. He'd been struck once for inviting Skylar over and for the kiss that had been forced upon him... how much more would his father do if he ever found out that his son was gay, that he willingly let himself fall into a relationship his father would label as depraved? It wasn't too far-fetched an idea, he realized, to consider that he might end up in the hospital or worse if his father ever found out. When he heard Skylar's softly spoken words, he felt his muscles stiffen slightly in apprehension while his heart seemed to stutter with happiness. He loved hearing Skylar call him things like that, as though he were some precious thing. "Don't be..." He responded after a moment of silence. Trying to lessen the guilt he was sure Skylar was feeling, he managed a chuckle. "It's too bad I'm not the main character of an action movie... I could totally flaunt this around with pride if I were." He said, gesturing to his bruise.

Sky shook his head at Alex's reply. "No, I am and will be sorry. I shouldnt of went to your house drunk. I knew you were looking forward to that dinner and I was an asshole." Skylar said, his voice still quiet. He didn't want other people eavesdropping on them for Alex's sake. His brows furrowed. "Don't say stuff like that." Sky said, his tone changing ever so slightly. Looking away, he grabbed his water bottle and took another drink of it. He felt guilty with Alex sitting next to him, but he couldn't help it. He was already halfway done with the drink, shaking his head he shook the bottle once he closed it. He turned to look at Alex once more.

Alex's smile faltered when he heard Skylar insist that he was sorry, when he listened to him bring up how he'd shown up to the house drunk, or how he'd known how much Alex had been looking forward to the dinner. He swallowed and shook his head slightly. He would have responded if Skylar hadn't spoken up once more, demanding he not say stuff like that, and he paused before sighing. Perhaps commenting on his bruise like a joke had been in poor taste, but he wasn't entirely sure how to ease Sky's own guilt. Seeing him look away to drink from his water bottle, he arched a brow but said nothing. Instead, he chose to remain quiet before he sighed and leaned back in his seat. His gaze flicked toward the clock and then to the front of the class before returning to Skylar. "Are you going to stay at school all day today?" He asked quietly after a moment.

Sky studied the males face as silence fell between them. Despite feeling guilt and anger, he couldn't help but think Alex looked super sexy with the cut and bruise. After getting slightly lost into the pure beauty of Alex's face, he opened his mouth to respond to Alex. "Hm, I'm not sure. Are you grounded?" Sky asked before shaking his head. "Actually now that I think about it, you're probably not allowed to hangout with me anymore right?" Sky asked, an annoying tone in his voice. It annoyed him but also made him sad. If that was the case, Skylar knew they would figure something out.

A lot had been said, and while Alex knew that his parents wouldn't want him to be around Skylar, they hadn't explicitly demanded it last night. Not that that would have stopped him. Their relationship was already forbidden. "No." He answered, and while that fact had surprised him, he was grateful for it. Perhaps his parents had been so focused on ensuring that he wasn't gay or romantically interested in men that everything else seemed of little consequence. Convincing them that he wasn't had been difficult but well worth it. "And they didn't say anything about me not being allowed to hang out with you... not that that would have stopped me." He said, offering a faint smile. "I think they were more interested in interrogating me on my sexuality than anything else..." He added his voice softly as he looked at him. After a moment, he moved to prop an elbow up on his desk and rest his chin in his hand, careful not to put pressure on the side of his face that was bruised.

Sky nodded in response to show he was listening, despite his eyes never leaving the males face. "Mhm, well it's good you're not grounded." Skylar replied, his voice quiet and soft. He chuckled a bit to himself after thinking. "I doubt they will let me over ever again, but it's fine... not like we can do anything there anyway." Skylar then said, turning to look away from Alex. He felt a little bad saying it, but it was true. "Would you maybe want to skip today... and hangout." Skylar then asked. He was quiet, almost afraid to ask because he was scared of what Alex would say.

Alex gave a slight nod in agreement. He doubted his parents would ever welcome Skylar over there again. It would have been one thing if Sky had simply been drunk, but as far as his parents, especially his father, were concerned, his saying what he had was akin to partaking in some cardinal sin. And seeing as his parents were devout churchgoers, they weren't likely to welcome him into their home or around the family any time soon. Even if they hadn't outright said that he wasn't to see Skylar, he knew that they'd be furious if they learned that he'd been with him. When he heard Skylar start speaking once more, Alex was pulled from his thoughts and returned his attention to him. "You mean like... ditch the rest of our classes?" He questioned with a raised brow. He pondered the idea for a moment before he found himself nodding. "Sure." He answered with a small smile.
