Okay! So my idea was that, basically, a few generations ago some guy staged a jailbreak. Probably in one of the larger kingdoms, but it ended up with every single person in that prison escaping after quite a bit of mayhem. After the jailbreak, the leader of it all and all of the prisoners settled somewhere on the outskirts of all the kingdoms, and with the help of the fact that they'd all done their fair share of physical labor because of the way prisons work and many of them previously had jobs in building, farming, and basic town stuff, they all built a village together.

It was a pretty big village, more along the lines of a city than anything, and because of how big the jailbreak was, a rumor started out about it. The kingdoms tried to keep hush-hush about it because of how big of a security breach it was, so they didn't end up sending out their troops in order to keep the status as "just a rumor", but among the scum of all of the kingdoms, there was a rumor of a kingdom of thieves that would accept all fugitives that came their way. Anyone who didn't have a home, were chased out of their home or, really, just was a criminal would be allowed to stay there. Among the higher-class citizens, the rumored town was nicknamed the Kingdom of Thieves, but among the scum of society, it was more hopefully named the City of Second Chances.

As time passed, the "city" got larger and larger as they accepted more fugitives, runaways and orphans. The crime rates were lower than expected (still higher than all the other kingdoms, but not by that much) thanks to the tightly-knit nature of the whole thing and their loyalty to the crown for ideally being everyone's saviors. They stayed under the radar for a while, but eventually it just got too big and got noticed by the kingdoms -- however, at that point, it was just about its own kingdom and had to be recognized as such. And with that, we've got another kingdom.

The reason I bring this up is basically just because I had inspiration for a character who's basically a "king of thieves". Basically, the first few leaders of the place either remained unwed or ended up gay so they'd just pick the most skilled-looking orphan off the streets and raise them as their own to be the next heir, and that became a tradition. All of the leaders inevitably died young, though, leaving their heirs equally young, and the current one is by far the youngest, leaving me to my character. If you'd like to turn this down or give me some criticism, though, please feel free to tell me because I am just spewing words out of my brain right now.

Okay, I read through that several times, and, honestly, it could work. As I said, as of now, the world is still very flexible. I think that you just need to work a little bit more on how that kingdom will interact with the others.

I'm gonna try to go into the gist of what the other kingdoms are about. So far, there're six others: Amlriyax, Garjiang, Kipokl, Girmaon, Taylbakus, and, of course, Majia.

Amlriyax is based on medieval England, operates under a feudal system, and is loosely allied with every kingdom. The kingdom rose to power through corruption, so one could say that they aren't truly powerful at all. They used to be closely allied with Majia, but when Majia began imploding, they slowly backed away until Majia fell. Since Majia is one of the reasons why Amlriyax was among the most powerful kingdoms, with Majia now gone, Amlriyax is going to shit and is more so known as The Kingdom of Drunkards and Thieves.

Garjiang has completely closed itself off to every kingdom but Amlriyax, and it is based on 15th-16th century Japan, Korea, and China. I don't have that many ideas yet.

Kipokl is loosely based on India, Egypt, and Tibet, and they aren't really... medieval in nature because of their strange-ass technology, but... I'll explain later— The important thing is that they're pretty neutral with magic-users, but they'll shun them whenever need be. They're a trading empire and known for their merchants.

Girmaon is based on Germany during WWII and The Cold War, and also on medieval France. Girmaon is among the most politically and economically weak kingdoms mostly because it took over several smaller kingdoms (during their genocide of magic-users) and the higher-ups having no clue just what the fuck to do with all the land and people they have control over. I don't have much else about them.

Taylbakus is just based on Russia. They're mean with magic-users and even have entire fighting ring event things where they yoink magic-users and force them to fight for the entertainment of, like, thousands of people or something. Not much on this, either.

And then there's Majia. Heavily based on Rome. It's, obviously, not functioning right now and 99% of its citizens are dead and 0.5% are enslaved. I also don't have much for it either—

It's, like, 1 AM, fam. My brain ain't working right now.

I'd imagine my kingdom (I'm terrible with names so lets just call it KD for now) would have a pretty negative relationship with everyone (except Amlriyax) due to the fact it's basically made up of all of those kingdoms' fugitives, orphans and criminals, and most of them wouldn't like it that much because of that. Not enough to start a war, because they have more important things to do and KD has great resources due to the fact it's been sef-sufficient for... I don't know how long, but a damn while, that's what, plus they live on land that's been previously unexplored (probably the No Man's Land of the kingdoms). They had to find something in order to stay alive, and they probably ended up finding ways to get shit the other kingdoms haven't found yet. As for specifics, I dunno.

As for worldbuilding on the kingdoms, I can probably help once I'm more awake and can do research on the shit you took inspiration from.

I named each kingdom based on random words in the languages of each respective country they're inspired/based on. The first two kingdoms actually aren't named developed by me; a friend named them, but Amlriyax is just the word "America" with random words whacked into it and "Garjiang" sounds Korean/Chinese/Japanese, so. "Kipokl" is based on the Indian kapok tree. "Girmaon" is obviously just "Germany" with random words inserted in it. And Taylbakus is just the Russian curse phrase "suka blyat" spelled backward. Majia is just... y'know, "magic."

I agree that it would have a pretty negative relationship with the other kingdoms. Amlriyax would be its "friend" probably 'cause of it being The Kingdom of Drunkards and whatnot. And it's pretty cool that they exist in what you said is the No Man's Land of the Kingdoms; they could have access to some magical shit that'll be of importance at some point.

But research fucking sucks, so I wish you a shitton of luck.

Oooh, I like that idea, actually. They'd probably have access to lots of old equipment and scrap that no one else has, plus maybe some species no one else has seen before. Still, I'd imagine that most kingdoms would only tolerate them for that, though they'd probably trade information with Amlriyax (hah! Nice thinking naming it after America, this place is a shithole) on how to deal with their citizens. Plus the king of the place would probably be looked down on, himself, if simply for being too young to be king.
Anyhow, I'll probably do my research now that I'm done with my work for today. I'll get back to you with any thoughts I may have.

Your kingdom is sounding problematic and dysfunctional. I like it. And take your time with the brainstorming. I'll be writing down a whole lot of the world lore in the meantime.

(I shit-talk America whenever possible—)

Alright! Well, I'm more of a discuss as thoughts come along person than I am a "come up with everything over the span of like a day and then spam it all in one post" person, so I'll just say the thoughts that I have on Garigan now, and then I'll look for stuff with Girmaon and Taylbakus, and I'll probably try to come up with the rest independantly instead of researching anything because they seem to have enough to lean back on already and I am not going to read any more history than I have to.

Anyways, Garjiang definitely seems like it'd have thick defenses -- it probably has a thick wall and gate, like the Great Wall of China but more effective. I'd imagine they'd be pretty damn stingy about who comes in, too -- I think they'd be pretty strict in general, especially on their own people. I read something here about Japan having a lot of uprisings and battles over the throne, so I imagine that there would be rebellion stirring underneath the ruler's iron first, and the kingdom is probably split over it, which is leading them to withdraw even more as they try to keep the vulnerable state of their inner workings on the down-low so they don't get ambushed or get lower on the political scale. I also think that they'd have ideals about loyalty and patriotism (ironically, considering the fact they're on the brink of being overthrown) and being simple and frugal, so a lot of their architecture would be simple curves and shapes but just about indestructable in quality or something like that. If you need more, let me know.

Everything you've said for Garjiang is on par with what I had in mind. It's almost like we're sharing brain cells. Garjiang does have a Great Wall of sorts, except it's far more dangerous. It has a strip of land inspired by the Death Strip of the Berlin Wall, and it is filled to the brim of things that'll kill instantaneously. And since Garjiang is separated from the rest of the Land via this wide-ass river (they're on an island of sorts, similar to Manhattan's geography), their geography really protects them and keeps them locked away from the rest of the world. And what you said about Garjiang being strict on their people is 100% accurate; individuality isn't really... liked in Garjiang. I also got inspiration from my own time in China: Garjiang doesn't really have that much shit from the outside world. Like, a lot of their stuff is locally made. So, stuff that could be completely meaningless to other kingdoms would probably be seen as "cool" by the younger generations and looked upon by the older generations, simply because these things are not from Garjiang. And you're definitely onto something with the rebellion. There was this thing in Japan where katanas or something were confiscated and it started infighting of sorts, so the higher-ups of Garjiang probably confiscates people's stuff whenever they so please. Freedom isn't encouraged in the communist-like authoritarian regime of Garjiang, and a vast majority of people are obviously pissed at that. And their architecture is inspired by traditional Korean architecture, so, yeah, there's a lot of frugal aspects and a lot of curves in their buildings, and, because Garjiang is directly on a fault line, also sturdy as fuck so as to not, y'know, poof into rubble.

Hahah, same brain! Yeah, I think that there should definitely be a rising rebellion in there; seems like a prime place to have one if there ever was one. Let me see about Girmaon, though.
