Everyone knows of the famous Sled Dog races, those like the Iditarod and the Yukon quest. So when a brand new race was announced, excitement thrived, all the teams wondering if this could be the next big race. Rather uniquely, the race has been called the Alaskan Challenge, as its run completely through Alaska, over some of the harshest conditions known. Its a 1,000 mile race that was just destined to claim the lives of those who dared to challenge her. And, on the race’s debut you, it did just that.
Tragedy strikes as two sled teams are swept off the trek by an avalanche, injuring many, and killing some. Lost, and left for dead, the Teams are surrounded by danger and have to learn to survive in order to make it to safety. Unfortunately for them, the Alaskan Wilderness is extremely dangerous, and threats lurk behind every tree, just waiting for them to make a mistake, for someone to get left behind. While their delicate existence is on the brink of being snuffed out, help might come from the most unexpected of places: wolves. While some of the predatory canines want nothing more than to see the dogs die, some have other desires and wish to help them. And, with how harsh the wilderness around them is, the dogs need every little bit of help they need.
With tensions running high, and time running out, its up to them to work together and save themselves. Otherwise, they may as well just curl up in the snow and wait to die.

The Breeds For the purpose of this Rp, I will be providing a List of Dog Breeds you can use to make your Sled Dogs. You can use a purebred, or do a mixed breed of the ones provided, but you do have to use the breeds on the list. However, if you do think that a breed belongs on the list that isn't included, feel free to Pm me about it!
Sled Dog Breeds: - Alaskan Husky - Siberian Husky - Alaskan Malamute - Samoyed - Greenland Dog - Canadian Eskimo Dog - Seppala - Mackenize River Husky - Tamaskan Dog - Northern Inuit Dog - Utonagan Dog - Finnish Spitz - Eurohound - Keeshond
Again, you do have to use the dogs on the list. I don't want to see any Labrador Poodle mixes trying to be on the team. They won't be accepted. And no Wolf-Dogs either.
Lead Dogs There are usually two Lead Dogs on each team, though a team can be lead with just one at the helm, and they are the ones who lead the teams through the races. Lead dogs often have to be intelligent, somewhat independent, have common sense, and they must be able to find the trail in harsh conditions. They are, in every sense, the bosses of the team. These dogs usually have a strong drive to run, and can make their own decisions if a command they’re given is bad.
Swing Dogs These are the two dogs who are hitched directly behind the Lead Dogs. Their primary job is to steer the team and to make the turns/arcs and keep the team on the trail. These might also be Back up Lead dogs or Lead dogs in training too, so if needed they can lead at times. They also are dogs who have experience as Team Dogs.
Team Dogs These are the dogs between the Swing Dogs and the Wheel Dogs, there can be anywhere from 2 to 8 team dogs on a single team, though the normal is 6. Together, they are the teams brawn, their primary job is to pull the sled and offerr muscle to the team. They the speed the team runs at too. It's not unusual to see other dogs from other positions take up Team Dog positions either.
Wheel Dogs These are two dogs closest to the sled behind the Team Dogs. They are always some of the largest dogs on the team, and are usually the strongest of the team. They are considered the powerhouse, as they are the first to take on the brunt of the load the team is pulling, especially when going uphill. While the Lead Dogs might lead the team and everything, and the Swing Dogs are the ones who steer the team, it's the Wheel Dogs who steer the sled.

Name: Nevada, Goes be Neve or Neva a lot. Sometimes Nev or Vada
Age: 3 Years
Breed: Samoyed x Siberian Husky Mix
Team: Team 1
Role: Lead Dog
Stock Image. Credit Belongs to Hypercrabby on DA. This image is not exactly how Nevada looks, but it's pretty close. Picture her with a more cream colored coat with some pale red points, a more curlier tail, and a fluffier coat.
Nevada is a dog that looks primarily like her Samoyed half. She's slightly taller, longer, and leaner compared to full breed Samoyed though. Almost more sportier and athletic, would be a good way to put it. She stands at 22 inches tall at the shoulder, and weighs about 48 lbs. She's got a long, heavy, fluffy coat that provides her a lot of warmth, that is immensely soft to the touch. Instead of being the pure white color that Samoyed dogs have, she's actually a very pale cream, with slightly darker redder on the points of her body like her ears, shoulders, elbows, as well as the base of her tail. However, the red at the base of her tail is hidden due to the fact that her tail is almost always curled. Her nose is a dark pinkish red color, and her eyes are a gently, warm amber color that's similar to honey brown. Personality: Nevada is a very warm and happy dog, not one to ever be purposely mean to others. She's compassionate to those around her, and is the one to worry for their safety when out on a trail. She's not the most confident in her skills as a leader, as she hasn't been a Lead Dog for the longest of times, but she definitely has skill. She's the one who will doubt and double guess herself if she isn't careful, overthinking is definitely her down fall. Her youth and lack of overall experience can make her easily bullied or pressured by the older members of her team. After all, she is still learning. Neva is incredibly stubborn at times though, and once she does have her mind set on something, it's incredibly difficult to shake her. She's a rather intelligent dog, and while it can cause her to over think, it also helps her through difficult situations.
Other: She hasn't been a Lead Dog Long, she was originally trained as a Swing Dog, but has done well as a Leader too.
Name: Kavik Age: 6.5 Years Gender: Male Breed: Alaskan Husky Team: Team 1 For Now; I may move him to Team 2 if Needed. Role: Team Dog Appearance:
Credit: Stock Image, Credit goes to CaballineCreations on DA Kavik is pretty big for being an Alaskan husky, but it is believed it's because he has a larger dog breed, like a malamute, recently in his lineage. He stands about 28 inches at the shoulder, and weighs a solid 76 lbs. He does vary in weight occasionally, especially now that he's older. So it isn't unsual to see him drop a few pounds and then gain them back quickly. He might not be very old, at nearly 7 years, but he and his body have been through quite a lot, and it's taken a heavier tole on him.
His coat is medley of black, grey, white, and a bit of tan, almost black agouti, giving him a dark, but beautiful pelt. What completes his look is the pair of bright, ice blue eyes that reside in his head, giving him both an eerie, but expressive look. He's got a large paws, and a muscular build, and is a considerably athletic dog. If he wasn't so banged up when he was younger, he likely could continue racing into his teens. Unfortunately, arthritis has begun to take it's hold on him, and despite the variety of supplements he's on, it still causes him pain now and again. Most noticably, he will limp when he's too stiff, or has been worked/ran too long. It goes away with some rest, but it's just one of those things.
Personality: Kavik is a rather level headed creature, not one to lose his temper if he even has one. He's a patient and quiet male who isn't one to be aggressive towards others, believing there's no room for that on the team. He's a determined and hard worker, and if the type to keep pushing himself even after he should have stopped. When he doesn't feel well, or his body is stiff and pained, he can be a little grump, and when he's like that he just wants to be left alone. Kavik is kind of like the wise old grandpa on the team, and often feels the tired from the energy of the younger dogs on the team. Crush: Open Mate: None Pups: Kavik could be the father to dogs on either team, pm if you want. Other: Kavik has pretty much experience in every position on the team. So he's comfortable anywhere.

Standing at 26 inches which is tall considering her Husky heritage this female stole the height genes from her Utonagan side. She weighs in at around 55 lbs, and from nose to tail she is about 34.5" maybe a bit longer. Her body is lean and muscular in appearance being built for endurance and her long legs helps her cover more ground quickly. Her nose is charcoal in color. Her coat is long and thick able to keep her warm, and it's mostly soft but some areas hold a certain roughness to it. Her coat is a mixture of black , white , silver , and grey possibly even some brown or tan undertones. Her face is dominated by the black color except for the rings of a creamy bronze color around her eyes, and splash of white on her chest and cheeks. Her eyes are a bright blue almost sapphire like color. She even has small white dots that would be mistaken for eyebrows as it makes her face seem a bit more expressive. She has what would be considered white 'socks' on all of her legs except her back right one.

Stern and level-headed can be the main words to describe this female. Stern in the way she deals with those who break rules or defy her. She has a high disdain for those who disrespect her or try and do her job. I mean it's what she was trained to do, and she responds to this in mostly a calm manner, but wouldn't hesitate to curl her lips into a snarl. When you have caused her to snarl then your in trouble because it is only when she's truly angry she'll do such a thing, because she'd mostly just give you a hard glare and reprimand you.
She's a happy dog, but not just brimming with said happiness. She's not one to overly express her emotions, but she finds that those who are bubbly are quite interesting and fun to be around. She's a quick thinker and likes to analyze situations before blindly rushing into them. Yes she may be a bit cautious and wary about things but this by no means shows she's a coward or lacks confidence. She cares for her team deeply and would never do anything to harm their well-being and makes sure that they're safe.
She's very observant of others, and she tends to always be watching from a distance. Very loyal to her team she'd lay her life down for them, and she's extremely protective of the younger members. Whenever she's in the mood she loves to tell a good story, and she does so with what she says 'style ' . She has a lot of patience , but even that can wear thin if constantly provoked. She listens to others complaints , suggestions , and worries and does her best to try and fix these errors. Lastly, she does not like disorder and chaos as it is very annoying, and she can't stand it if others see a problem they can fix and they don't do it themselves.
