Thea

Thea jumped somewhat when Rhys quickly sat up. Her heart thudded against her ribs for a few beats before settling back down, then stilled all together when she noticed the glare Rhys was looking at her with. Her eyes widened slightly and her body stiffened. When Rhys sighed heavily rubbing his forehead, Thea’s shoulders loosened some.

“I’m afraid not Thea,” He spoke. Did he hear me? She wondered. He must of. She was about to apologize for waking him, when in the dimly lit room a small figure leapt onto the bed, going over to lay in Rhys lap. "I'm sure that my father would create plans to keep you safe." His words were comforting in a way. It was good to know that someone was still on her side. A question pegged her mind, Is Rhys?

Climbing out from the bed, Rhys placed the feline near her. The cat walked over with out any regard and climbed right into Thea’s lap. Her hands hovered over the little one hesitant to touch her. She had never really been around cats before. There were one or two that lived in the castle to keep away mice, but they rarely came out to socialize. The small vibrations of purring soon started, and with a single finger she gently stroked the cat on the top of her head.

When the bathroom door opened again Rhys came out in fresh clothes, dressed for the day. He wore a black short sleeve shirt, with dark grey jeans and heavy looking boots. He looked like the solider he aspired to be as a kid.
"I'm going outside to train with Onix." he spoke, heading for the door.
"I'm sure that my father has a plan with you, Thea." He said just before closing the door, the faithful canine following him out. She was alone again.
“I’m not sure he likes me very much,” She spoke quietly to the sleeping kitty in her lap. Slowly standing up, the feline got from her lap, only to lay back down in the spot she just occupied. Her bare feet walked across the cool wooden floor over to the window. Pulling the curtain back she peaked her head around to see the state of her kingdom. The sky was grey with clouds, but the rain had stopped. The white and turquoise flags adored with the crest of Cianna no longer flapped in the wind. Instead a new black and red flag with a large bird stained her streets. Thea’s jaw clenched at the sight and she turned away from the window. At the same moment the door to the bedroom opened, and the lights were flicked on. In came Lord Devonshire with a sense of urgency, along with the maids from the previous night.
"Lady Thea, we have to change what you look like quickly. As the, um, the new princess would be arriving late at night for a small get-together." Lord Devonshire spoke with a calm voice. Thea halted midstep, her body freezing. What did he just say…
Something white hot began to grow and spread with in her, something she hadn’t felt in a long time. It was the feeling of pure, unadulterated rage.
"It wasn't my idea, but the King was rather eager." The lord continued. The...king....
“You disgrace me with your words, my lord,” venom and hurt laced her words. Her face twisted with disgust at the thought of someone else sitting in her fathers throne. Her jaw clenched so hard she swore she heard something pop. Her nails dug into the soft skin of her palms but she barely noticed.

Rhys clenched his hand into a tight fist, his nails digging into his palms, but he doesn't react to it as he barely felt the pain. His eyes staring at his sister, a look of outrage danced in his two-colored eyes. "New princess?" He grumbled disapprovingly, with the pupils in his eyes compacted. His mouth grew sour once more, and just saying such a thing makes his stomach twist in anguish. He created some conjectures on who the new princess was. What family planned against the former king and queen? He grew frustrated by the minute, wanting to punch something. No worse, he wanted to kill someone. Sadie raised her hands submissively, "Easy, Big Guy. I'm not the target here."

Rhys takes deep breathes to calm down, and he releases the tension in his hand. "I...I apologize." He taps his foot against the tiled floor, Sadie frowning in concern. "I think you should see how Thea is doing through all of this," she offers him a soft smile, "I could offer you a few words to say to her if you like." His face scrunched up, crossing his arms tight together just over his chest, and Fang looks up at him worried. "I don't need your help, Sadie." His voice was now gentle as his anger was no longer lingering in his mind and heart. "But you're right about one thing, and it's that I should check up on her."

≿————- ❈ ————-≾

Sadie steps to the side, allowing her brother to walk past her to head back to his bedroom with the dog. She watches him leave with a soft smile on her face and chuckles. "Look at you being protective of your girlfriend." The young woman says, her eyes gazing long fully at her brother as a look of pride twinkles in her eyes.

As Rhys enters the room, he opens the door only for him to hear what the princess said, "You disgrace me with your words, my lord." He turns his eyes swiftly to his father and the maids, with Edward appearing rather calm about it. He steps further into the room, Fang following closely after him, and sat down beside the door as Rhys closes it behind him. "I guess you told her the news." Cautiously he approached the princess, reaching a hand to hold hers that was clenched tightly, and gently takes it in his rather large palm. He twirls a thumb over her knuckles, staring at his father as he waits for him to speak.

"We'll alter your appearance so no one will recognize you," he says in utmost urgency, "If they see you alive in our home. Everyone would be treason." Rhys nods his head slowly, taking all of this in as he stares down his betrothed. "She won't be considered a true princess in my eyes, Thea." Cheeks flushing as he grew sheepish and resisting the urge to let go of her hand.

≿————- ❈ ————-≾

"Don't worry, your highness. We'll help you regain your family's throne," Edward bows respectfully, "Our families have been allied with each other for centuries." Rhys lets go of her hand, shoving his hands back into his pockets as he rubs the sweat of his palms inside of his pouches. "We'll gather forces against the one who stole your throne. However, we'll need a lot of information and allies before attacking." Edward says in a stern tone as he narrows his eyes at the princess and his son, "Whatever you do, don't compromise the true identity of the princess. Her fake name will be Clare Bergamont, and she's a student part of an exchange program. Already got fake information sheets just in case the royal family starts digging deep into it."

So, this is what his father has been doing late at night. Rhys clicks the roof of his mouth with his tongue and stares at the variety of beauty products that modify appearances. "I understand, father." Now he hopes that such a fake name would imprint on his brain, or else he would risk exposing them all.

Thea

A heavy tension hung in the air, only to be cut the the sound of the door opening. From the hall Rhys entered the room, his dog following at his side.
"I guess you told her the news." Rhys said to his father. He knew?! Thea wanted to snap at him, but his cautious approach towards her caught her off guard. It was like he was approaching a wild animal. When his warm roughened hand wrapped around hers she stared down at it, then up at him with wide eyes and a roseyness in her cheeks. His thumb gently ran over her knuckles. Thea let out a long breath, unclenching her jaw and relaxing her clenched fist. Her mother would have scolded her for her actions. Her heart pained at the thought of her mom. Shaking off the thought she looked over at Lord Devonshire waiting for him to speak. "We'll alter your appearance so no one will recognize you," He spoke with the same urgency. It was true, if she was caught in their home they would all be punished. Her presence was putting them in danger, but they were the only allies she had.
"She won't be considered a true princess in my eyes, Thea." Rhy’s words made her heart beat faster, she blinked away the sting in her eyes.
“Thank you,” she looked at his eyes of the land and sea, and spoke with sincerity.
She nodded at Lord Devonshire’s offer. I will take back my throne, my kingdom. Thea’s resolve was unwavering.
A cold wrapped around her hand when Rhys let go. Lord Devonshire’s eyes narrowed on Thea and Rhys.
"Whatever you do, don't compromise the true identity of the princess. Her fake name will be Clare Bergamont, and she's a student part of an exchange program. Already got fake information sheets just in case the royal family starts digging deep into it." He explained. Thea hated the name, but if it would help her reclaim her throne, then she would become Clare Bergamont. Thea sighed and closed her eyes for a moment, coming to terms with everything. “Do what you must,” She spoke glancing at the products the maids had in their arms. Without another word Thea walked into the bathroom, closing the door most of the way behind her. She walked over to the sink placing her hands on the edge, leaning heavily on it. She stared at herself in the mirror, memorizing what she looked like, what she would go back to when this was all over. Seeds of doubt began to spread in her mind. Will this ever be over? Can I really take back my kingdom? Her thoughts were interrupted when the maids entered the bathroom. Thea gave them a slight smile. Bella and Sara placed the items in their arms on the sink counter. The two looked at eachother then at Thea. Thea’s features softened.
“Its ok, it’ll be ok,” But she didn’t know if her words were for herself or for them.
What seemed like a couple hours passed before they were finished. Bella and Sara were cleaning up while Thea stood in front of the mirror. Her long wavy hair now hung straight to her shoulderblades. Its honey blond color was dyed a dark brown color. The front pieces of her hair that framed her face were cut at an angle, shorter in the front, longer in the back. Chocolate brown contacts covered her turquoise eyes and makeup covered her freckles. It was like a completely different person was staring back at her. In the reflection of the mirror Bella walked up behind Thea, running her fingers through her hair to pull it up into a small ponytail. The small pieces of her hair that framed her hair hung loose, a look Thea never thought of wearing.
“There, I think we’re done here. I’ll leave your clothes here, come out when ever your ready” Bella spoke in a soft voice.
“Thank you, both,” She replied. Quietly the bathroom door closed and she was alone. She glanced down at the clothes that sat near her. Disrobing Thea changed into her new clothes, which consisted of a dark olive green long sleeve shirt, light blue skinny jeans, and a pair of black flats. Small gold loop earings hung from her ears and a black leather braided bracelet wrapped around her wrist. Thea had never worn such informal clothes before. Since the goal was to make her look as different from herself as possible they hit the mark. Thea Took a deep breath and looked down at the bathroom sink. A single tear slipped down her cheek, she roughly wiped it away and glared at herself in the mirror.

Turning away from her reflection Thea walked towards the door. Her hand hovered above the door knob, steeling herself, before pulling it open and walking back into the bedroom.

Rhys was almost sure that he was close to getting yelled at by the princess, yet when she calmed down when he took her hand, he suppressed a sigh of relief. Noticing the light pink imprinted on her cheek, this causes his cheeks to glow a soft red. His heart was beating quite quickly now, but he doesn't know if it was out of embarrassment or something else. He stares deep into her diamond-colored eyes, noticing how watery they appear to be. His brows raised with a questioning look on his face. Was she close to crying? A concerned appearance appears on his face, as he thinks that he just insulted her. He almost apologizes until she said, thank you, he relaxes a bit. "You're welcome, Lady Thea." His voice was soft when speaking with her, with his father examing them both with a satisfying stare. Rhys could tell that her heart was hurting just thinking about her deceased family, he wanted to comfort her, but the presence of others stopped him from doing such things. Perhaps when they're alone then? Rhys catch sight of sheer determination, the eagerness to reclaim her throne. Something that he admires in someone, with a soft smile crept onto his face.

"Do what you must." He snaps back to reality, the smile quickly dispersing, and his stony face returns. His two-colored eyes follow the princess that makes her way to the bathroom, going after her were the two maids. Rhys stares at the door quite hard, a disturbed look in his eyes as he traces the fabric inside of the pockets of his pants. "Rhys," his father's voice snatched his attention away, "Remember what I said, child." Came the less warming voice of his father, and Rhys frowns softly. "I get it, father. I won't do anything to put her and this family in danger." He sounded assertive, staring deliberately into his father's eyes. "I care about this family and her with all my heart."

≿————- ❈ ————-≾

Edward released a soft grunt that rumbled deeply in his throat, "Do you love her?" He asked his son, and Rhys' cheeks heated up in both anger and embarrassment. "She's just a great friend to me." He made a quick excuse, heart hammering into his chest, and he felt his palms sweat some more. "Besides, her heart isn't that into me. We clearly state that we're nothing more but friends." He felt it in his heart, and for some strange reason, he could tell that his father was about to scold him. It was until the two maids stepped out of the bathroom, both of them standing on each side of the door.
Rhys waited patiently for the princess to come out of the bathroom, and his lips turned pale as he pressed them tightly together. He noticed the door handle twist, and Rhys' head jerks up. Believing that the princess would instantly get out of the bathroom, so far nothing. He was close to barging in to check on her, but he refrains himself once more when she opens the door. A breath of relief left him, his heart calmed down, and he observes her new look.

≿————- ❈ ————-≾

Rhys cautiously approached her, placing a hand on her cheek as he stares deep into her eyes which are now a different color. "I'll miss those diamond-colored eyes of yours," a soft smile on his face, "But if it means that it'll keep you safe, then so be it." Removing his hand from her cheek, shoving his hand into his pocket and he glances over his shoulder. "I'm going to go outside to train. For real this time." Rhys glimpsed back down to the princess, giving her a soft gaze. "Want me to show you around the gardens before I go to the training field? Just like the old times?"

Thea

Thea wasn’t quite sure what reaction she would get when she walked out of the bathroom, but Rhys’ was not it. A warm calloused hand cupped her cheek, she found herself leaning into it. The way he stared into her eyes made her heart beat like a humming birds wings. She felt her face grow warm and she was probably as red as a ruby.

"I'll miss those diamond-colored eyes of yours," He said with a soft smile. That smile made her heart flip in her chest. Why am I feeling like this, calm down.

"But if it means that it'll keep you safe, then so be it." When his hand left her cheek the cool air quickly replaced it. Thea let out a breath she didn’t even know she was holding. When Rhys looked over his shoulder, Thea took a half step back from him, hoping it would bring her mind back down from the clouds. What is this? I thought he didn’t like me. Thea couldn’t help but feel like she was forgetting something, something important. She had never felt like this when someone suitor tired to win her hand with gifts and words of affection. She’d never felt like this before, period. She didn’t understand it.

"I'm going to go outside to train. For real this time." He spoke looking at her, really looking at her. It made Thea want to go hide behind something like a child.

"Want me to show you around the gardens before I go to the training field? Just like the old times?"

The next words that left Thea’s mouth were uncharacteristically like her, “I- uh, I…” She started slowly walking to the side, “ No thank you,” She spoke quickly and made a fast be-line towards the door, pulling it open and shutting it behind her. Her flats slapped against the floor as she ran down the hall, not having nay idea where she was going, but something in her mind told her to take a right at the end of the hall. And so she did. Two doors down she halted, pushing open the door she stood in front of without a second thought. Quickly she closed the door quietly behind her. Light from tall windows across the room lit up the space. The window nook looked out to what she assumed was the garden, but her eyes were glued to the white grand piano that sat raised in the middle of the room. Her mind drew blank, forgetting what just happened with Rhys, with her parents, her kingdom. Like she was in a trance, Thea walked over to the piano, running her pingers over the smooth familiar keys. Bits and pieces of a forgotten song began to play in her head.

When her face grew red-Rhys grew worried, he wonders if the rain has gotten her sick, and now she's showing symptoms of a fever. He frowns softly, watching the princess suffer from an internal panic, which he doesn't understand yet. He blinks a few times in confusion then glances over to his father for an answer. The only answer that his father gave Rhys was a shrug of his shoulders, as he too questions what's happening with Thea. Not much help, are you? As the princess left without hesitation, Rhys falters as he believes that the princess is disgusted by him. He reaches a hand over to the door, but quickly he pulls it back and frowns heavily. "I'll be going outside, father." His tone was full of disappointment, leaving the room without saying anything to his father and the maid, lips thinned as he sucks on them.

Back as kids, Rhys and Thea would go into the piano room. He plays the piano while she sings the lyrics to whatever song she prefers, and he would just follow along on the piano. At times, he even teaches her how to play certain songs that she didn't learn. She wasn't the only one that would've been his betrothed if things turn array between the royal family and his own. If the king declined the offer Edward gave him, then Rhys would've been engaged to someone else. The other marriage candidate was Lady Amora Delarosa, her family a group of merchants and aristocrats. However, he never heard from her in years. Something that he is glad for as he finds her to be a bit clingy.

He was so close to entering the training grounds, but a mysterious woman stopped him as she stood in front to block his path. "Do I know you?" He queered, narrowing his eyes a bit to see if any memories of this strange woman would appear in his mind. The stranger just smiles, stepping a bit closer before kissing him on the cheek. "It's me, Lady Amora. Or at least you can say, Princess Amora, now." Hearing her title made his body freeze into place, bringing his hands into a fist as he just stares hard at her, unsure of what to say. "Princess?" His voice was that of a whisper, anger filled his mind, but he quickly suppressed it. "Indeed I am, Lord Rhys. My family was elected to be the new royal family by the nobles, which makes me the heir to his kingdom." She smiles, but Rhys knows that the smile is hiding wickedness behind it.

"Why are you here, then?" He questioned, even though he should've asked as to why she's here early. Amora just smiles, tracing a finger along his jawline, and he just swallows hard. "To see my possible suitor, darling Rhys." She says seductively, but Rhys pulls away and looks away from her. "I'm sorry, but my heart still aches for Thea." Even though she's very much alive, he's just trying to find an excuse to leave her alone. Amora, on the other hand, doesn't seem to be relenting on her small pursuit. "Ah, you two were quite attached to the hip," jealously laced her words, and she scoffs.

Thea

With the press of a single white key, sound reverberated around the room, echoing before it faded and the room was quite again. The hair on her arms stood on end. With just a single note, her soul began to wake. Thea sat on the black wooden bench, back straight and head heald high. Her fingers glided over the keys, like a summer breeze through tall grass. She moved with the music, slow and gentle. There was no name for this song, the music just played from her head to her fingertips making it a reality.

The pace began to quicken melodic and sonorous, like trying to escape the falling rain. Her fingers danced across the keys with precision and grace, never once faltering. The dark ominous rain clouds began to gather. Plaintive the melody turned and the notes became strained. Like each press was plucking the chords of her own soul, drawing everything out. All the pain, fear, rage, and sadness she felt went into the music. Her fingers rapidly struck the keys, like she was crying out. Faster and faster she played till the final notes. With one last hit her fingers stuck the keys. Her soul screamed.

Out of breath she looked with eyes closed towards the ceiling. Her hands shook slightly in her lap. The melody still played in her ears after the room fell quite. Thea opened her eyes after a while turning to look out towards the garden. She stood from the wooden bench and walked over to the window nook. She pulled her knees up towards her chest.

"I'll miss those diamond-colored eyes of yours," Rhys’ words came to her mind in that moment. Thea felt her cheeks grown warm.

“Stupid Rhys, even if we are engaged--” Thea stopped mid sentence, nearly biting her tongue in the wake of realization, her hand flew to cover her gaping mouth. In the midst of everything that had happened she forgot they were betrothed. Thea covered her face with her hands and groaned. He was only acting like that because it was what was expected of him. Their engagement was base on diplomacy, not love. Rhys could not love her, he made that very clear when their parents first gave the announcement, and she couldn’t possibly… have those feelings for him. A flash of her heart beating so fast in his presence crossed her mind. She shook her head.

“No, no, we are old friends, that is all.” She sighed and rested her head against the glass.

He couldn’t possibly…

Rhys was biting back his sharpened words when the new princess was examining him-he feels like a toy while the new princess is the little girl. His eyes were following her movements, his fingers twitching as he itched for his sword, pressing his teeth tight together, with a fire of rage dancing in his eyes. Quickly he hides his angry reaction when she moves to stand in front of him, the two locked eyes, with Rhys detecting the woman's adoration for him. His mouth grew dry, his eyes cool as he stares into the woman's to show his disinterest. "I'm sorry, your highness," his words were sharp, yet he quickly recovers himself into a neutral standing, "But, I'm not looking for any other spouses." Which was true; he wasn't eager to marry, but thinking about Thea made his heart flutter.

Amora crosses her arms together just below her chest, settling her right elbow on her arm while placing her fingers a little bit over her lips. "I've always like a man with fire, and I could see it clearly now," her lips coil into a smile, "You're just playing hard to get. No matter, I'll break you eventually, either by mines or my father's hands." This is where her tone grew unpleasant, Rhys' spine shivers in utter fright, and he gulps as he knows that her words show the truth. Truly, she is a devil in disguise. Rhys gives her a bow, "As stated before, I rather prefer on joining the army than being stuck in a marriage that would be lovele-" "Who says anything about it being loveless, darling Rhys? I've grown to love you when we were kids," her eyes gleam of darkness, "Until Thea, took your interest away from me and onto her. Although I'm not too upset about that," she moves both hands to grab onto his arms, "As now she's dead and I get to have you as my toy now."

"I could offer you a better position in the army, darling Rhys." Again, her words were hostile, and Rhys stares into her eyes. His mouth opens as he tries to speak, but strangely enough, he couldn't once he locked eyes with Amora. "Consider this my final offer. However, if you disagree," she licks her red-cherry lips, "I can and will make your life a living Hell." Rhys can still detect no lies, the spots where she was touching him grew warm, and his heart races in fear this time. "I-I'll consider your offer." He stammered, somehow those words left his lips, even though he doesn't want to say anything. Amora smiles sweetly and kisses him on the cheek, "Oh, how joyous, Lord Rhys." She covers her evil facade with a kind one. That's something he always hates; two-faced women, his worst nightmare to be around. "Now, I'm going to speak with your mother. Don't worry. I won't speak ill of this encounter and your manners." She lets go of him, then walks away.

Rhys watches her leave, his stomach quenched in utter disgust as she kissed his cheek. Trying to rub off the lipstick stain the best way he could, but it wasn't coming off. "Blasted she-devil," returning to its hostile self before leaving the mansion to go to his original destination. Wanting to blow off some steam, especially from this encounter. "I can't believe that overpowered Thea's family, yet I wasn't too surprised," he sighs softly as he rubs the back of his neck, "Snakes haven't always lingered in the wild but in the court of many kingdoms, as well." He chuckles, "I should use another term, as I don't want to insult such stunning creatures."

As he reached the training grounds, he grabs a double-edge sword, then checks the blade to make sure it was dull enough to cause light damage to the skin. He begins to spar with the dummy he rebuilt himself many times, but it wasn't a good training partner as it doesn't even fight back. "How am I suppose to get good experience fighting this stick figure?" He was angry not at himself, but it was directed towards the woman who suddenly appears. "Blasted Witch." Slashing at the dummy's side with an angry side strike, "I should kill your blasted family my damn self." He strikes downwards at the dummy's chest, causing a small dent, "You made the love of my life live in agony." One final strike, he aimed for the dummy's neck then cut off its head. His cheeks grew red upon realizing what he said, groaning in frustration as he throws the sword, sighing as he knows that he has to retrieve it.

Thea

In the quite room the sound of heels clicking against the wood floor echoed like the beat of war drums. The hair on the back of Thea’s neck rose and her skin prickled. It was a strange feeling to know something dangerous lurked without even seeing it. She just knew. Standing from the window nook, quite as a mouse, Thea carefully walked over to the closed door, crouching down beside it. The sound of a woman's voice filled the hall, sounding like she was getting closer to the room in which Thea hid.

“Tell lady Rosanna, that Princess Amora Delarosa seeks an audience” The woman on the other side of the door barked. Thea’s brow furrowed, Princess Amora? The name rang a bell but the title seemed wrong. Mentally Thea ran through the different titles until it clicked. Lady Amora Delarosa of the house of Delarosa, the daughter of the merchant who often delt with her father.

“Princess?!” Thea nearly spat the words from her mouth. That manipulative, whiny, child who knows nothing of the real world, that was who took over her kingdom?! Her murderous thoughts were interrupted when the sound of footsteps halted in front of the door.

Before the door knob had a change to turn Thea quickly stripped her shoes from her feet and as quietly as she could ran over to the window nook, unlatching it. Tossing her shoes over the rose bush that sat beneath the sill, Thea didn’t hesitate jumping right after them. It was probably only a five foot drop straight down, but lets just say Thea wasn’t one for jumping. It was a miracle that she cleared the bush, but that's where her luck ended. Landing poorly on the uneven ground caused her to fall, hitting her knees against the softened earth. Her eyes watered, as the cut on her knee probably re-opened. Grabbing for her discarded shoes she waisted no time getting out of view from the window. Crouching along the wall of the house Thea made her way towards the back, weaving in and around the scattered rose bushes. At all costs Thea would avoid and evade the merchants daughter, afraid she might lose control and try to strike her down before the time was right.

Only when Thea reached the back of the house did she stand tall again. Keeping a constant eye out over her shoulder.

The thud of something hitting the ground drew her attention away from the poison the lurked in the Devonshire house. From the other side of a white rose bush she found Rhy’s in the middle of a training arena. He walked over to pick up a sword that laid in the dirt. Did he throw it? She pondered. Glancing between the house and Rhys she opted to hide outside the Devonshire walls, even if that meant she would have to face Rhys. Stepping from the other side of the white rose bush Thea cleared her throat.

“Are you hiding out here too my lord?” She questioned but probably knew the answer to that already.

Rhys tightly grips the handle of his sword, jaw clenching when he tries to shove the image of Amora out of his head. It was clear in his eyes that he was upset over the whole woman who dares to approach and insult him. He doesn't know what to do now that he was in Amora's sights once more, and he was too much of a stubborn man to fall into her wicked charms. It's official; Amora is a succubus in disguise. Knuckles whitening when the tightness of his grip increases, his calloused hands shaking in displeasure. He must ask his father to send him away to one of their remote vacations homes; that does sound pleasurable.

“Are you hiding out here too, my lord?”

An angelic voice rang into his ears, his attention snapping to Thea, er, Clare. He examines her beautiful features, taking in the wonderous sights that help ease his nerves considerably. The corner of his lips twitches, stabbing the tip of the blade into the ground to store it until his return. He approaches her with great hesitation, hands shoved in his pockets, and he chuckles when he notices the suppressed rage in her eyes. "I'm guessing you heard the news?" Tone light and serious, trying his best to set her at ease.

"Your horse, my lord." A servant approaches him with a rather agitated stallion being tugged along by the reins. Rhys nods his head, waiting for the servant to leave before speaking with Clare again. "Eager to get away for a bit? I don't want to linger while Amora is here." Scratching his jawline, grabbing his stallion's reins and leads his mount to repossess it. Grabbing the grip with one hand, pulling it out of the ground, then sheathes it. "Let's just say that our encounter wasn't that great." He mumbles, eyes drifting to the building to make sure that no one was approaching them. "Here. Let me help you up."

Rhys does so, helping Clare onto his horse, and mounts up behind her. Slithering his arms past her sides to grab onto the reins, clicking his tongue and the horse gallops off into the direction of the apple field. "So, the Delarosa family is now the new royal family. True that they lots of allies, but they also have enemies." Keeping his voice low, not wanting anyone to eavedrops on their conversation. "Keep your facade as Rosanna and keep it well, my lady. Only reveal your true identity only to those you completely trust." When they reached the apple orchards, he relaxes his unknowingly tensed body, and he looks around suspiciously. "Princess Amora is quite...determined...to gain my hand in marriage," his voice alone grew bitter and tongue sour, "and I can understand why she's persistent."

Rhys grabs an apple from a tree, cleaning it off with his shirt, and then takes a bite. The apple tasted sweet on his tongue, and it was quite delightful. "After the whole incident, her family's wealth has decreased significantly. Not only that, they don't have the full support of the people. With the marriage between Devonshire and Delarosa, it'll benefit both major issues." His frown grew heavy, and he thought about his brother. "I'm worried about Icas and Edward when they hit the adult age. Who knows if she'll target them next."

When he went quiet, his heart was beating rapidly in his chest, and it was beating in his eardrums. Does he truly love Thea? He closes his eyes, taking in deep breathes to inhale the smell of the fresh apples, only for Clare's scent to come through first. Unknowingly he leans closer against the woman in front of him, and his nose brushed against her skin. Her aromatic scent made him hum in delight, "It smells like...paradise. Like Heaven itself has blessed me with such a loving scent." Opening his eyelids slowly, realizing that he got way too close to Thea, he jerks back so quickly to the point he almost fell off the saddle. "I-I'm sorry, Th-Rosanna. I didn't mean to. Really." Cheeks covered in a redden tint, and his hands shaken in anxiousness.
