Steven watched the pup. the glanced back down at his paws. Enara rushed over to him from talking to Shadow, the alpha. "Steve, s' ther a problem?" She laid down next to him, "I know you come here when your upset, so spill" Enara demanded gently. Steven seemed to choke on his sadness. "It's Oak" Steven sighed, "You're really upset over her?" Enara tilted her head to one side. "I don't know why-" "But how am I supposed to love you when I don't love who I am? And how could I give you all of me when I'm only half a man? 'Cause I'm a sinking ship that's burning, so let go of my hand Oh how can I give you all of me when I'm only half a man?" He whispered the words quietly. Enara sighed, "I'll leave ya' be" She brushed his cheek with her tail before leaving the little cleft.

Oak chuckled when he nuzzled her, smiling. "Well, little pup, how are you feeling?" He stepped back and raced around her. "Just fine!" He stopped and sat down in front of her. "But I need a name. I want you to give me one." Oak thought for a moment, looking over his fluffy white fur, obsidian paws, chocolate tail, and aqua eyes. "How about . . . Beku?" The pup giggled, bouncing around. "Its perfect! Thanks . . ." Beku trailed off as he leaned against her. Oak touched him with her nose. "Yes, Beku? Whats wrong?" He sighed, and smiled up at her. "Well, I've been thinking. I will need someone to help take care of me, since I can't hunt or fight or do almost anything useful. I was wondering. . . .would you be my adopted mother?" Oak stared at him for a moment, then nodded. "I suppose so. It would be fun to have someone to take care of." She said, chuckling. She nuzzled him as he snuggled into her fur.

Steven watched the two, and he sighed, put his paws over his snout once more. He heaved himself to his paws, his legs trembled. He gently padded out. Enara glanced up and grinned at him when he stood. Steven looked at his paws as he walked past Oak and the pup. "Look who emmerged" Enara nuzzled Steven's ear. He dipped his head to her, "Thanks Nara, for everything" Steven sat next to his sister.

Beku looked up as Steven passed by them. "Who's that?" He asked in his squeaky high voice. Oak glanced up at the passing male. "That is Steven, a male in the pack." Her eyes followed him for a moment, then returned to the pup. The pup nodded, jumping up. "Can go talk to him?" He asked, cocking his head to the left. Oak nodded and he turned away, then trotted over to Steven. "Hello. My mom says your name is Steven, right?" Beku said, a bright smile on his face.

Beku nodded. "Yes, I'm Beku. How did you guess? And Oak is my mother . . . sort of." He said, the smile fading slightly. Oak was watching them, curious as to how they would interact. Instinct told her to go over and protect Beku, to be sure he was safe, but she resisted. Mixed feelings about both the males were stirred up inside her as she watched. Sighing slightly, she lay her head on her paws and continued watching the scene unfold, waiting.

Oak stood and stretched, then began walking towards the food stash. Beku followed her, his head turning all around trying to see everything. Oak chuckled at the tiny pups antics. "Calm down. There will be time for you to tour the camp later. Right now, I'm hungry." The pup nodded but still glanced around. Oak stopped by the pile and sniffed it over. Selecting a raven, she saw the large buck, and remembered Steven being hurt. Sighing, she took the bird and walked over to him. Dropping the raven, she glanced up at him. "Feeling better I presume?" Oak asked, laying down. Beku trotted around her until she gave him permission to explore the camp, but to be careful around other wolves and going into dens. She began pulling feathers off the carcass, making it easier to eat, and placed the feathers in a small pile next to her.
