Jack nodded softly, language barriers were always frustrating. "I think I understand, maybe? So no mers have the same heart beat, and they never have the same names. Is that what you mean?" Jack didn't smile, he hadn't given anyone a true smile in years. But it was obvious that he was happier here than anywhere else. He looked thoughtful as he tried to fill in the blanks of what Kiache was saying.

"The beat tells -sings- your name," she said, her voice skipping slightly. "Does your name have a song?" She questioned, her fingers trailing over the water.

Jack honestly didn't know how to reply to that. He toyed with his beanie, bits of frost appearing on the black wool. "I don't think so, us humans don't really think about those kinds of things, or even know about them. And I out of everyone would probably not have one. Uh, my heart beat goes a lot slower than other humans. And it beats kind of randomly so I don't think so." Jack shrugged, keeping his hands tucked away in his pockets.

Kiache tapped her pointer finger on the ground. One, quick, then three times holding her finger down for a pause. One quick, and once holding. Long, tap, long, tap. Long, tap, long. Repeat. "That is your song, deep down. In your soul. Above it is a rhythmic thump thump.

With a surprised look, Jack nodded. "Thanks for telling me then. I didn't realize that I had one. You have amazing hearing huh? Lots of scientists think mers do but normally mers don't speak to humans. The scientists that I read about are all nice to mermaids by the way. I've met them. They don't like seeing mers being used like you guys are. I don't like it either, it makes me angry. I thought we would've learned by now that these sorts of things never end well... oh sorry. I went on a rant huh?" He took a few steps back, to a dry area and sat down there.

"Our hearing is well, yes. Must be to hear through water. Eyesight, as well, is also very good," Kiache told Jack, "Trouble with your powers, yes? I could help."

Jack nodded softly, a deep sigh pushing its way through his lips. "Yea, I used to be really good at controlling them but I can't anymore. It's not like I don't want to, I just can't. If you really could help me I would be in debt to you forever." His soft pink lips were parted a bit as a cold puff of air came out of his lungs. He didn't know it, but his heartbeat itself was also slowing.

Kiache dove down into her tank, and hunted around for what she was looking for. Soon finding it, she came up, a small shell and a cord in her hands. She threaded the shell onto the cord, and started to sing lightly. Like before, a flicker of flame appeared. She guided it into the shell, and clicked it close. Kiache then handed it to him. "Mer fire. Very good at containing:"

Jack quickly took it from Kiache, not at all in a rude way. But considering the fact that she had just come out of the tank, he could most likely freeze her. He wouldn't deny that he had accidentally froze someone before. Only his family knew about that though. "Oh, thank you. I really appreciate it Kiache. People don't normally try to help me, this is new. Anyways, is there anything you need that I might be able to get you? I won't be able to do much but I can summon things if you want anything." Jack slipped the cord over his head and tucked the shell into his second shirt. He had three on.

"Only to bid hello to the stars and the Ocean when you next see them," Kiache said wistfully. She missed her aquatic home dearly. "Miss my home dreadfully, I do. Hurts to stay away when it 'tis so close."
