Making his way through the halls silently. He avoided the maids and kept his head down low. Summoning his headphones and gloves, he slipped inside the room. The sound of water splashing on the side of wood filling his ears. Gently closing the door behind him, he walked over to the fridge where they held the raw fish used for feeding the mermaids. He only knew where this was because of the last mermaid, who he had given extra fish to on multiple occasions. Of course, that was when he could control his powers. Taking the fish on a plate, he put the plate on the place where wood met water. Wondering if the mermaid would actually come up here.

Kiache heard doors opening and closing, and noticed the boys soft footsteps. Not the rough ones like the normal feeders. She surfaced in the water, and hauled herself up. She sat in the open air, part of her tail and her fins still in the water. "Hello."

For a moment, Jack looked surprised, he really hadn't expected the mermaid to come out of the water. He looked even more surprised when she said hello to him. From what he had heard, the mermaid never spoke, not a single word. "Oh, hello, I got you some more fish if you want it. It may be a little cold though, sorry about that."

She smiled pleasantly, "Confused to why I speak?" She questioned, tilting her head, "I speak to you, for you listen. The others do not." She picked up the fish and ate it all quickly, sharp teeth flashing as she ate. "Thanks to you, Jack." Edited at August 10, 2018 12:32 AM by Abibliophobia

Jack didn't mind the mermaid's somewhat broken English, or her sharp teeth. He had seen the teeth before and was used to it. Plus, many people spoke French in Skyline along with Liam. So many people spoke in odd English like the mermaid. After the mermaid ate, he asked her a question. "What's your name?" It was a simple question though he was sure the mermaid hadn't been asked it in a long time.

It took a while before she answered, "Kiache," she said finally, looking into the water. "Kiache is my name, Princess of Atlanta." She looked up at Jack, "But Owner must flaunt that around to Visitors."

Jack lightly shook his head, sighing as he adjusted his beanie. "Liam never uses your name. He just says the Princess of Atlanta and everyone goes with it and doesn't ask questions. By the way, that's a really cool name. I've never heard it before."

"New, it is, for humans. The Mer have another language, and names such as mine are common. Though each Mer has a different name, their... Word?" She pats her chest where blood was pumped and spread into her being, the word for it ringing different in her mind.

Jack watched Kiache with interest and curiousity, along with a soft sort of kindness. It took him a moment as he tried to figure out the word. "Heart? Chest?" He asked, throwing words into the air.

"Heart!" She exclaimed, "Each has a heart-song that calls for another name. No Mer have the same calling or song," she explained, "My Heart was strong, starting to.. ah... thump? deep down, making the Ocean call with me." Her face wrinkled up, "Tis hard to explain. No words to explain it."
