I'm moving my fish into a bigger fish tank. with a bigger community (snails and bottom feeders) I wanna know if anyone here has fish? And what their tank setup is like. As well as just asking questions for other stuff because I barely know anything about fish. Edited at July 27, 2021 12:16 PM by Quoth the Raven

I wanna know mostly right now how I can clean a tank previously housing a gerbil. My sister bought a fish tank for it, and it passed so she's giving it to me and it needs to be clean.

Hey there!
I have a REALLY small female beta fish. My tank set up is probably not the same as what you have going on, but....
I have a 2.5 gallon tank with at least five fake plants and a little ship wreck decor thingy for her to swim through. I had to buy two smallish bags of gravel. I also have a filter and heater. If you have tropical fish, you need a heater.
For my tank, I clean it every 2 to 4 weeks and I replace the filter. I also clean the gravel and everything else in the tank. NEVER USE ANY KIND OF SOAP!!! I really just rinse and use a clean sponge to clean the tank. I put conditioner in the lukewarm water and let it all cycle through for a few hours before putting my fish back in. I got all my stuff from PetsMart : )
Not sure if that helps, but there ya go <3

I would say to just rinse it out with a hose a bunch of times. And scrub the walls and everything lots of times. I would clean the tank until you would feel safe enough to eat out of it. The. You know it is clean enough for fish to be in.

With some aquarium cleaner and a new sponge, you should be able to clean it up. Bettas do incredibly well with snails, depending on the bottom feeder it may eat the snails. Edited at July 27, 2021 03:14 PM by Interstellar Sun

I have 4 fish, 3 tetras and a clown pleco. They are my babies and I love them very much - The tank is around 20 gallons, maybe a tad more, we have some plants and a few hiding places and some pebbles.
